1 Dolphin Escape One-Miler Saturday, September 30, 2017 Rain Date: Sunday, October 1, 2017 SANCTION Held under the sanction of USA Swimming and Middle Atlantic Swimming; Sanction: MA 1861 OW In granting this sanction, it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of this event. LOCATION Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal, 43 Cape Henlopen Dr., Lewes, DE COURSE DESCRIPTION This is an open water ocean swim. The current and wave conditions are unpredictable; please use good judgment if you are uncertain about swimming in rough water. The course is set; however, the race committee reserves the right to change the direction of each event due to ocean conditions. The details of race with landmarks are attached. Any questions about the course will be addressed at the pre-race meeting. The water temperature is expected to be in the range of F. USA Swimming Open Water Rules will be followed from the 2017 USA Swimming Rulebook Part Seven. New rules for 2017 (addendum to rulebook): For open water swimming competitions in water with temperature below 20 C (68 F), men and women may use either swimsuits or wetsuits. When the water temperature is below 18 C (64.4 F), the use of wetsuits is compulsory. Wetsuits for both men and women shall completely cover the torso, back, shoulders and knees and shall not extend beyond the neck, wrists or ankles. The thickness of material/s used shall be minimum 3 mm and maximum 5 mm. In addition, the outer surface of the wetsuit shall not include outstanding shapes, such as ridges, fins, etc. MEET DIRECTOR Karen Bown, usas.meetdirector@gmail.com ELIGIBILITY Open to all Eastern Zone USA Swimming athletes registered prior to first day of the meet. On-site registration will be permitted. DISABILITY SWIMMERS FORMAT WARM-UPS & WARM-DOWNS Swimmers must be 9 years of age or older. Athletes with a disability are welcomed and shall provide advance notice of desired accommodations to the Meet Director. The athlete (or the athlete s coach) is also responsible for notifying the Meet Referee of any disability prior to the competition. The 1 Mile race (Wave 1 Non-Wetsuit; Wave 2 Wetsuit) will follow the yellow course (see map below). Athletes will start on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, jumping off into the water approximately 10 feet, swim south turning right around the buoy, There will be no warm up/ warm down locations

2 ENTRIES Pre-Registration Link to go live on 8/15 at Crest-Dolphins-Swim-Team / ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION: Available 08/15/17 thru 09/15/17. ONSITE OR SAME DAY REGISTRATION WILL BE PERMITTED! Registrations after the 09/15/17 pre-registration deadline will require the athlete s USA Swimming membership ID to be shown. FEES AWARDS Athletes 17 or younger must have their parent/guardian present to sign their registration form(s). $90 for the 1 mile swim for all participants. $15 for the Single-Meet Open Water USA Athlete Application for Non-USA Registered Athletes (See form below). Wave 1 Non-Wetsuit and Wave 2 Wetsuit will be scored separately as follows: Overall 1 st thru 3 rd event award per wave Male & Female 1 st thru 3 rd : Age 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; 15-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+ Athlete(s) that receive an Overall event award will not be eligible for age group award.
