1 Day One Swimming Intro Activity: Swim as far as you can using any strokes for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Freeze tag in the shallow end. Lesson Focus: Pool safety/water orientation and adjustment -Lockeroom procedures -entering the pool: feet first, first time -blowing bubbles -looking for objects under the water with goggles Culminating Activity: Game where you throw dive toys into the water and students pick up as many as they can. Day Two Swimming Intro Activity: Kick as far as you can in 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Kick with a board 3 lengths, 2 lengths, 1 length with 10 seconds rest in between. Lesson Focus: Floating -Back float -Front float -Turtle float -Deadman s float Culminating Activity: Game of Sharks and Minnows

2 Day Three Swimming Intro Activity: Float in the deep end for 2 minutes using any float that we learned in the last class. Fitness Activity: 3x10 bobs in the shallow end. Lesson Focus: Treading water -Use paws, not forks when sculling -Egg beater kick with legs -Keep your face dry Culminating Activity: Game of Waterpolo Day Four Swimming Intro Activity: Tread water for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Aquajog in deep end with floatie belts for 6 minutes. Lesson Focus: Elementary Backstroke -Finning on back with flutter kick -Little bird, big bird, FLAP with flutter kick -Elementary backstroke arms with frog kick Culminating Activity: Game of Marco Polo using elementary backstroke.

3 Day Five Swimming Intro Activity: Swim the elementary backstroke for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Kick with fins, without a board 3 lengths, 2 lengths, 1 length with 10 seconds rest in between. Lesson Focus: Freestyle -Human stroke hands sliding under the water, head down, fast flutter kick -Elbows high, paws dry -Breathe when you need to -Use streamline when pushing off of walls Culminating Activity: Relays Day Six Swimming Intro Activity: Swim freestyle for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Breath control 25 s 8x25 s 5 breaths-4 breaths-3 breaths-2 breaths with 20 seconds rest in between each 25. Lesson Focus: Rhythmic Breathing-Freestyle -Using kickboards: (keep one ear in the water when breathing) -stroke and breathe with same arm -stroke don t breathe, stroke and breathe -don t breathe, don t breathe, breathe (RB 3) -without kickboard, swim FR with RB 3 Culminating Activity: Game of underwater hockey in shallow end.

4 Day Seven Swimming Intro Activity: Swim freestyle with RB3 for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: 3x100 s Freestyle slow-medium-fast. Get HR up and wait for everyone in lane to finish before starting the next 100. Lesson Focus: Backstroke -Finning on back with flutter kick -Double arm backstroke ( thumbs out, little pinkies back in ) -Keep your eyes to the sky Culminating Activity: Game of football in the shallow end. Day Eight Swimming Intro Activity: Swim backstroke for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: 4x50 s backstroke right arm, left arm, double arm, swim Lesson Focus: Breaststroke -Frog kicking with boards -Frog kicking in streamline position -2 frog kicks in streamline, sneak a breath -Breaststroke arm pull -2 frog kicks, 1 arm pull and breathe -Breaststroke swimming 1 frog kick, 1 pull and breathe Culminating Activity: Relays

5 Day Nine Swimming Intro Activity: Swim as far as you can breaststroke for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: 4x75 s breaststroke---swim and build up your speed. Lesson Focus: Butterfly -Dolphin kicking with board -Dolphin kicking in streamline position -Butterfly arm pulls on deck -2 dolphin kicks, 1 arm pull and breathe -1 dolphin kick, 1 arm pull and breathe -1 dolphin kick, 1 arm pull don t breathe, 1 dolphin kick, 1 arm pull and breathe (RB2) Culminating Activity: Game of water volleyball in the shallow end. Day Ten Swimming Intro Activity: Swim as far as you can butterfly for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: 4x50 s swimming 1 of each stroke: Fly/Back/Breast/Free Lesson Focus: Water Safety/Rescue -Calling 911 -Assisting a drowning victim -CPR -First Aid -Heat exhaustion -Sunscreen application Culminating Activity: Game of Freeze Tag in the shallow end.

6 Day Eleven Swimming Intro Activity: Swim as far as you can non-freestyle for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: 2x100 s swimming 1 freestyle/1 non-freestyle Lesson Focus: Diving -Feet first, first time -Sitting dive -Kneeling dive -Standing dive -Diving off of the starting blocks Culminating Activity: Game of kickball. Day Twelve Swimming Intro Activity: Swim as far as you can your choice for 2 minutes. Fitness Activity: Social kick with boards for 6 minutes. Lesson Focus: Relays -Relay starts off of blocks -Butterfly -Backstroke -Breaststroke -Freestyle Culminating Activity: Relay Olympics
