3 REGISTRATION INFORMATION How to Register REGISTERING IN A PROGRAM Programs are either Drop-In or require Registration. It will be listed in the description of the programs throughout this guide. Payment for ALL programs is required at the time of registration. See page 5 for Drop-In and Pass rates. call us (604) Please have program and payment information ready when you call. This icon indicates that you need to register for a class or program in advance. There are two ways you can register: OR come by th Avenue Come by the Recreation Centre in Hope to register in person. Register by the date listed in the program description! CANCELLATION & MINIMUM NUMBERS Read before you register! We need minimum numbers to run many of our programs. In the program descriptions, if registration is required, there is now a "register before" date. If we don't have the minimum numbers required, the program may be cancelled. CANCELLATION POLICY If program registration requirements are not met 72 hours from the scheduled program start time, the program will be cancelled and you will be issued a full refund. SUBSIDIES INFORMATION KIDSPORT BRITISH COLUMBIA KidSport works to fulfill its mission of eliminating the financial barriers to sport participation, So All Kids Can Play! KidSport is a community-based sport funding program that provides grants for children under the age of 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice. For more information or to apply check out: CANADIAN TIRE JUMP START Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a nationally registered charity dedicated to removing financial barriers so kids across Canada have the opportunity to get off the sidelines and into the game. See their website for more information: Pass Suspension & Withdrawal Policy Pass holders unable to access the facility for an extended period of time due to a medical condition may apply to withdrawal or suspend their pass two times per annum. Pass holders relocating outside the service area may request to withdraw a six month or one year pass. Once approved, suspensions/withdrawals will commence from the date of receipt of request. A 20% administration fee will be charged for a withdrawal within 72 hours of a program start date. Once a program has begun, a pro-rated refund minus the administration fee will be applied. 6 CHILDREN + YOUTH Children + Youth Programs TOTS PROGRAMS FIRST KICKS & THROWS Ages: 3-5 yrs Fee: $20 This program teaches the basics skills of physical literacy: kicking, throwing, aiming and passing. Our program emphasizes fun above anything else, and includes variety of games and activities. Register by: Saturday, April 28 Tu May :30 pm - 4:00 pm GENERAL INTEREST CLUB CHILD Ages: 5-12 yrs Fee: $12/day 10 pass $99 20 pass $185 This is a licensed after school childcare program available at Coquihalla Elementary School. Activities include indoor and outdoor sports and crafts with snacks provided. Fridays include swimming, parents are to pickup their child at the Recreation Centre on Fridays. Subsidy is available for families who qualify through the Province of British Columbia. For more information on subsidy check out Club Child days of operation coordinate with school days. Provide your children 10 years of age and older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. This program is certified by the Canada Safety Council. This camp will offer children the opportunity to try out a new sport. Led by a qualified skateboarding instructor come practice techniques in a safe and controlled environment. 8 CHILDREN + YOUTH SCHOOL DAZE OFF CAMP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: A great opportunity for kids to have fun with daily swimming, skating, crafts and skill-developing activities. All of our staff are certified in First Aid and High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development. Daily activities are planned and reviewed in advance so you can expect a well-balanced and age-appropriate schedule full of fun. Remember to pack your child a lunch, swimsuit, water, and weather appropriate clothing. January 19* We head to the Art Machine and Panago in Hope! Kids will be led through a special craft and then how pizza is made and even get to make their own! In the afternoon the participants will head into the pool to play a variety of games led by our certified Play leaders. We head to Get Air Trampoline Park in Abbotsford for a morning jump. From there, participants will head back to the recreation centre for an afternoon full of games and swimming led by our certified Play leaders! FEE: Day Rate: $ $15 transportation fee for field trips May 18 Our Day Camp will take participants to Wild Play Element Park in Maple Ridge. There participants can experience climbing, zip-lining, jumping, and swinging through obstacle games! Upon arrival back at the Recreation Centre participants will head into the pool to play a variety of games led by our certified Play leaders. Spaces in the School Daze Off Camp fill up quickly. 9 CHILDREN + YOUTH Spring Break Programs SPRING BREAK SWIM LESSONS Age: 4 months + Fee: $30-60 Lessons run for minutes in length depending on the level. For Red Cross swim levels and pre-requisites, see page 15. Register by: Friday, March 16 M - Th March :30 pm - 5:30 pm BRONZE LIFESAVING CAMP Age: 13 + Fee: $240 A full week of lifesaving training. This course combines the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses. These courses are a pre-requisite for NLS. Register by: Friday, March 16 M - F March :00 am - 5:00 pm RED CROSS BABYSITTERS COURSE Age: 11 + Fee: $65 This is a great first step to youth's first job as a qualified caregiver in their community. Covering everything from managing difficult behaviors to content on leadership as a babysitter. Each week has a fun and exciting new theme. All of our staff are certified in First Aid, High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development and NCCP FUNdamentals. Daily activities are planned and reviewed in advance so you can expect a well-balanced and age-appropriate schedule full of fun. Programs are broken down into Preschool (animals) and Kids Levels (numbers). In the Kids Levels, the minimum age is 5 yrs, and successful completion of the previous level is a requirement. 22 FACILITIES - POOL, ARENA, FITNESS DAN SHARRERS AQUATIC CENTRE The Dan Sharrers Aquatic Centre opened on September 6, The amenities offered include a 25 metre pool with a 1 metre and 3 metre diving board, a leisure pool with spray features and a rapids channel, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Large men s, women s, family and wheelchair accessible change rooms are available. Programs including swim lessons, aquafit, bronze medallion & cross, kayaking and much more. With many skating and hockey programs available, winter equals fun. The arena features seven dressing rooms, a central sound system, and bleacher seating. When the ice is gone (May - August), the arena dry floor is available for rent.
