4 SPORTS FOR LIFE SPEED AND AGILITY An 8 week training program designed to NEW increase athleticism in young athletes of all sport backgrounds. Program includes pre-test and posttest for each session. FLATWATER ROUNDBALL TOURNAMENT The YMCA will host its 6th Annual Flatwater Roundball Basketball Tournament on December 16th for Boys and December 17th for Girls in 4th 8th grades. Each team is guaranteed three games. Fee: $135 per team. 5 LEARNING TEAMWORK BASKETBALL LEAGUE Players learn the basic fundamentals of dribbling, shooting and passing on camp nights and utilize these skills in weekly games promoting teamwork and fun. 8 NURTURING POTENTIAL SCHOOL S OUT FUN CLUB Ages 5-12 School s Out Fun Club provides a fun learning environment for youth ages Children will have wonderful experiences with arts, crafts, swimming and physical activity throughout each day. Children are provided breakfast, lunch and a snack daily. What to bring: swim suit, towel, and tennis shoes. Stop by the YMCA to register. The registration packet and shot records are required prior to participation. Members: Daily $27, Weekly (consecutive days) $120; Program Members: Daily $29, Weekly (consecutive days) $130 Hours: 7:30 to 5:30 CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER Infant - 5 years Our child care center provides a safe and secure environment as we nurture children s natural desire to learn by providing ample opportunities to explore and learn through age appropriate activities. Preschool and swim lessons are included in the weekly childcare fee for 3, 4, and 5 year old children. Transportation provided from Dodge, Gates, Starr and Seedling Mile. Full time enrollment only. The Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids just before summer kicks off! AQUATRACK CELEBRATION PARTY Looking for a fun activity for your scout troop, school group or sports team? The Grand Island YMCA now has an AquaTrack Inflatable Obstacle Course. Enjoy an hour in the pool on the AquaTrack play structure which is unique to Grand Island. Party times are Saturdays from 3:30 4:30. Call the YMCA at for available dates and more details. BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE Y Aqua Track Party Enjoy an hour on our Aqua Track play structure with your friends and family. Lifeguards are provided and the pool is closed to other YMCA members during your celebration. Maximum 20 participants. One hour in party room if needed. 10 ACTIVE PEOPLE ARE HAPPY PEOPLE DECEMBRRR DASH 5 MILE - 2 MILE - 1 MILE KIDS RUN Saturday, December 2, at the NEW COURSE: Start/Finish at the Community Fieldhouse, 525 E Fonner Park Road The Decembrrr Dash is a recreational run to help Hope Harbor and bring winter fitness fun to Grand Island! Registration available at packet pick-up and on-site on race day. 8:30 am - 5 Mile, 2 Mile & Kids Run $35 for all races, or members may donate non-perishables to receive $1 off registration fee (up to $5). Everyone registered before November 17 will receive a hoodie. SNOWBIRD SPRINT TRIATHLON SWIM BIKE RUN Saturday, February 10 Grand Island YMCA $75 team ($25 per team player); $30 individual Register at either Y or online at GetMeRegistered.com. Registration deadline is Friday, January 26, to receive a shirt. Registrations will be accepted up to and including race day if space is available. PICKLEBALL LEAGUE We have competitive games for Intermediate and Advanced level players. Games take place in the south gym at the Downtown Y starting Wednesday, January 17th and ending March 28th. Saturday, August 26, State Fairgrounds. The Nebraska State Fair Marathon includes a full Marathon, Half-Marathon, Marathon Relay, 5K and 1 Mile Kids Run. The Marathon is a Boston qualifier. All races start and end on the Nebraska State Fair Grounds. 11 HEALTHY HAPPENS HERE WELLNESS ORIENTATION To ensure a safe and effective exercise program, all members are encouraged to meet with a Y Personal Trainer for a free Wellness Orientation. Our friendly, certified staff will discuss how to properly use the cardio and strength equipment. Wellness Orientations are held every week and are free of charge. Visit the Business Desk to sign up for the time that works best for you. CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINING A YMCA certified Personal Trainer will help track progress, provide motivation and give guidance in regards to exercise techniques and healthy lifestyle choices. The Personal Trainer and the client will work together to develop a workout plan. $35 Single Session $160 for 5 sessions $100 for 3 sessions $315 for 10 Sessions Program Member: $50 Single Session YOUTH PERSONAL TRAINING Your child/ren will work one on one with a Certified Personal Trainer on three areas designed to aide young athletes in their athletic careers. Areas include, cardio training, light weights/ muscle build, and Plyo metrics. Children can work individually or in a small group. Group discounts apply. Contact the YMCA for more information. GROUP FITNESS CLASSES The Grand Island YMCA offers a wide variety of group fitness classes for all abilities at both locations from 5:15 a.m. through early evening. WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE Summer is just around the corner! We want to help you shed some pounds before it gets here with a combination of meal plans, exercise plans and one-on-one support. We have a program designed to help you reach your goal. This 6 week session will begin January 29. BOOT CAMP Summer Boot Camp is coming in June. Bootcamp is a challenging and rewarding way to boost your fitness and see results on your body. Boot Camp is for all levels of fitness, from beginner to extreme. Our certified trainers have years of experience to provide you with the most beneficial experience and in a fun atmosphere. Registration will begin in the spring. SENIOR FRIENDLY CLASSES Join a community of seniors and older adults for classes that are designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Classes are available at either Y location. TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS Tai Chi for Arthritis is an effective way for individuals with arthritis to improve strength, flexibility and fitness through a group of specific exercises. Class is currently on Tuesdays at the Express location. FITNESS MEMBER APPRECIATION January 13th we will celebrate the addition of Les Mills RPM as a new group cycling class offered here at the Y as well as the January launch of Les Mills CX Worx.
