2 INSTRUCTIONAL POOL: 86-88, 40 feet x 20 feet, 3 ½ -5 deep; THERAPY POOL (SPA/HOT TUB): 102 For adult use only, 15 years and older. Limit use to 15 minutes. SAUNA: 155 For adult use only, 15 years and older. Limit use to 15 minutes. Swim attire only. No street/workout clothing. A modest, well-fitting swim suit is appropriate attire. T-shirts, cotton material and gym shorts are not allowed. We reserve the right to make schedule changes. PRIVATE : occur when time and space is available. For more information, please Krysta Cummings at kcummings@ymcapkc.org or SWIMMING POOL RULES - Open swim is designated for swimmers and supervised children. Children under 8 years old who pass a swim test must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area. - Non-swimmers under 15 years old and children under 6 years old must be accompanied by a swimming adult, within arms reach. A swim test is required before use for all participants under 15 years old. - Lifeguards have authority to enforce appropriate behavior within the pool area. Persons refusing to obey the rules are subject to removal from the premises. - No diving is allowed. - No prolonged breath holding activities of any type are allowed. - Children ages 6-7 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool and pass a swimming test when not participating in a supervised activity. - Any child ages 5 and under or non-swimmers ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult, in the water, and within arm s reach. - All children ages 14 and under must take a YMCA swim test and follow band restrictions based on ability. - Pool use by persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. - People with seizure, heart or circulatory conditions should not swim alone. - Running and rough play are prohibited. Walk carefully on the pool deck. - First Aid Kit and emergency telephone are located in the pool office. Please notify the lifeguard on duty of any emergency. - A cleansing soap shower is required, including hair, before entering all pools per WAC A swim or shower cap may be worn in lieu of wetting hair. - No one with open sores, bandages, communicable waterborne diseases or who has had vomiting/diarrhea in the past two (2) weeks is allowed in the pools. - All diapers must have a tight-fitting cover (plastic pants) as needed for incontinence and must be changed at designated diaper changing stations or in the locker rooms. - No food, gum or drink in pool area. - Appropriate, modest and properly fitting swimwear/bathing suits are required cotton based clothing is not allowed into the pools. One-piece swimsuits for females are strongly recommended. - Shoulder length hair or longer must be pulled back and secured or worn under a swim cap. - No outside floatation equipment or toys are allowed into the pools ( i.e. water-wings and swimsuits with built-in floatation, etc.) Snorkels are allowed for continuous lap swimming only THERAPY POOL/HOT TUB RULES All Swimming Pool Rules apply (see above). Additionally, we ask: - For members 15 years old and older only (exceptions for Adapted Aquatics therapy program and medical cases with prior written authorization on file). - Swimming or vigorous exercising is not permitted. - Head must remain above water at all times. - Limit any one session to 15 minutes to avoid overheating. Persons engaging in such activities will have their membership terminated. - Appropriate swimsuit attire only, no street clothes/workout clothes. STEAM ROOM RULES - No food or drink in the steam room water is allowed in a plastic, non-breakable container. - No one with open sores, bandages, communicable diseases or vomiting/diarrhea is allowed in the steam room. - Do not spray water on heating unit or thermostat - No exercising of any type is allowed inside the steam room - Inappropriate activity (not in alignment with the values of the YMCA) will not be tolerated. Persons engaging in such activities will have their membership terminated ETIQUETTE - Let swimmer know that you are joining them in the same lane. - More than two people in a lane circle swim. Stay to the right moving counter-clockwise. - Let faster swimmer go ahead at the wall or allow them to pass on the left. - Please be aware of water joggers in the lane and pass on the left. POOL EQUIPMENT RULES - Lifeguards have authority to enforce appropriate behavior within the pool area. Persons refusing to obey the rules are subject to removal from the premises. - Pool equipment (fins, kickboards, hand paddles, etc.) is available for lap swimming only. - Water exercise equipment may be used outside of classes if used properly and safely. - Put fins on once in the water. Do not walk on the deck with fins on. - Be respectful of the equipment and return to storage after use. - Pool toys and noodles may be used at the discretion of the lifeguards on duty. Play nicely and share. SWIM TEST POLICY - Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children. If children 15 and under cannot pass a swim test, a parent/guardian must be in the water within arm s reach at all times. - Children ages 5 years old and under must have a parent in the water at all times, within arm s reach, regardless of swimming ability. - Children ages 6-7 that pass a YMCA swim test must have a parent present in the pool area. - Children ages 8-14 years old must be able to pass the swim test to be allowed to swim without an adult present in the pool. - Only Coast Guard-approved flotation devices (i.e. lifejackets) are permitted in the pool with direct supervision of a parent/guardian in the water. Outside inflatable devices and swimming aids are not permitted. - Members 15 years or older are considered parental or guardian supervision.

6 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: AQUA BOOT CAMP: High-intensity and low impact to give you a full body workout with cardio and strength training while utilizing the pool and deck. : Cardio fitness and strength set to lively music from a variety of dance genres while utilizing the pool and deck. : Basic yoga poses and breathing in the water; our goal is to stay in living relationship with our spirit, mind, and body while awakening our creative energies. CORE EXPRESS : Improve posture and physical function in this 30 minute version of our core class, as we focus on core strengthening exercises for abdominal and back muscles. : With a focus on core muscles and cardiovascular conditioning, you ll work your whole body in this water class. Flotation belts are available and basic swim skills are recommended. : Condition your overall body in this class designed to increase the range of motion in joints and strengthen muscles. MODIFIED : This low-impact class emphasizes cardiovascular fitness, muscle endurance, and flexibility at a moderate level. : Improve efficiency of the heart and lungs while increasing muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. ADDITIONAL BASED CLASSES: ADULT : Whether you want to learn how to swim, or want to improve your swim techniques, adult swim lessons are available for no additional cost along with your membership. FLOATING BEYOND FEAR: If you often miss out on water-based activities because of fear, discomfort or avoidance, Floating Beyond Fear provides a safe and supporting environment to address your fear of water. Floating Beyond Fear is an eight-week, small group class led by facilitators who respect your process, personal story, and boundaries. It combines pool time with group discussions on how your body naturally interacts with water, tools for remaining calm, and floating skills. With the support and encouragement of those who understand your fear, you will work towards becoming confident around water.
