1 INITIAL MEET INVITE Dear Swimmers and Coaches Re. UWCSEA Dragons Den International Swim Meet April 2018 UWCSEA East Dragons are delighted to announce our hosting of the Dragon s Den International Meet in April Last year s competition was a huge success and attracted clubs from across South East Asia. The Heats and Finals meet format, appeals to lots of swimmers who wish to test themselves against some of the best in the region. I believe that swim meets should be about more than simply swimming so we will again create a carnival atmosphere, which can be enjoyed by high level, and developing athletes alike. We already have significant interest so we will require all swimmers to aim for some meet consideration times. These times will enable the meet to run to a strict time schedule and produce some high quality performances. This year these will be strongly enforced. The expected meet entry deadline will be in February If there are any meet rejections, these will be provided by in March 2018 allowing time for possible travel changes if necessary. Below are the meet events and conditions. UWCSEA is very experienced at hosting large competitions and will help by supplying transport from specific hotels in Singapore. If you are a travelling team kindly fill in the form below outlining your travel and accommodation details. 3 Meet Conditions: 1. The meet will adhere to FINA Rules and is FINA sanctioned. 2. The pool is 50 metres long with 10 lanes with anti-wave lane ropes and electronic Colorado timing in operation, with continuous scoreboard display. Results will be posted via Hy-Tek s Meet Mobile App. Full results will also be available in PDF format, which will be sent to all coaches after the meet. 3. Over the top starts may be used in the heats. 4. A small (limited) swim down facility will be provided in the primary block of the school. This is about 400m from the racing pool so it is expected to be used by the more senior swimmers only. Signs will be erected to direct swimmers to this warm down facility. All swimmers must be accompanied by a member of staff and the pool is for swimming only. Anyone playing in the pool will be ejected without warning. Swimmers use this pool at their own risk and are responsible for turning up on time for their next race. Strictly no diving in or climbing over pads during warm up in the competition pool. 5. Any swimmers or coaches who fail to notify the meet organisers that they are withdrawing from an event will automatically be withdrawn from any remaining swims that day. 6. Any swimmer who withdraws for medical reasons will be withdrawn from all remaining swims that day. 7. The programme will cover the 50m, 100m, 200m 400m, 800m and 1500m events. All events will be heat declared winner (HDW). Age groups are standard (8 and under, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15 and Over) and scoring will be separated as such. Age on the 22 nd April (age on day) will apply. Events will be scored 1 st to 10 th (12,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2). For all 50m events there will be finals for the following age groups. Boys Age category: 12 and Under, Youth category: 13 and Over Girls Age category: 12 and Under, Youth category: 13 and Over

4 The above categories will be cross-referenced in order to determine age group champions. Please note this must be done manually so will not be reflected on the meet mobile scoring system. 8. Relays will be in standard age groups and genders (8 and Under, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15 and Over). 9. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 50m Finals, on the podium. Medals will also be awarded for HDW individual events and will be available for pick up at our Medals Table. Heat winners will also receive a ribbon at the end of each race. 10. The following trophies will be awarded based on age group high point scores: (i) Overall Team Points Score (ii) (iii) (iv) Foreign Visiting Team Points Score (excluding home team) Each Individual Age Group Champion Best Visiting Team Support (Voted by coaches) Entries 11. Consideration times for all events are below*. Please note that these are minimum time standards. The times may not guarantee qualification. Meet organisers will send a rejection list 1 week after the entry deadline. This will allow teams to modify travel arrangements if necessary. 13. The entry package is as follows: S$120 Travelling Team Package will include i. Meet Entry Fee Flat Rate (Total 8 Individual Events, 2 Relays provided there are no rejected swims) ii. Airport, hotel and pool transfers iii. Meet T-Shirt iv. Saturday and Sunday Lunch Voucher 14. 5 Other Information 1. Live Streaming of the swimming action will be provided for your viewing pleasure throughout the duration of the meet. This will include real time video overlays with times and results. 2. FINA officials will be in attendance. 3. FINA rules will apply. Including the 1 start rule. This is a fully sanctioned meet and times will be eligible for national age group and open qualification. 4. Colorado Electronic Timing will be used throughout the meet. 5. Coaches will be sent out a meet Psych sheet (list of swimmers in the events, with times, no heats). The meet programme (start sheets with heats) will be published the day before the meet. Meet results will be published free via the Meet Mobile app. 6. Swimmers will be seated on the stand side of the pool. Parents will be seated on the covered side. Parents are not permitted in the swimmers area at any time, unless they have an officials vest 7. Lightning: Should the lightning warning system sound all swimmers, spectators and officials must stay in an undercover area. Policy states that we can restart the meet when the alarm sounds 3 times and the flashing light turns off. Should lightning persist, meet organisers may be forced to cancel the meet. However every attempt will be taken to continue. 8. Food will be provided by a number of venders during the meet, in the cafeteria and outside the pool. Food and drink is not permitted on the pool side. 9. There will also be a variety of other vendors selling swimming equipment, sports clothing, drinks and snacks. 10.
