PRIZE MEDALS for 1 ST, ND, 3 RD & 4 TH RIBBONS FOR 5 TH, 6 TH, 7 TH & 8 TH This is a great event to have fun, practice good sportsmanship and show your swimming skills to family and friends. Location: Bayside High School Address: 3-4 Corporal Kennedy Street, Bayside NY Date of Swimming Competition: Saturday June 9 th, 018 Time: 9:00AM-1:00PM Warm Up: 9:05am First Race: 9:15am Fees: Only $5 per event (per race) for each swimmer. (ask parents for donation) (This is a non-profit event. Price will cover event costs only including staffing, medals, and pool rental. The rest of the cost will be covered by Gateway Sports & Pools our form of thanking loyal customers Registration Info: Please fill out the attached registration form with all relevant info and event numbers, and submit along with payment. Swimmers in level#3 must register for both events. Swimmers in level#4 - level#7 must register for 3 or more events. Deadline for Registration: June 3 rd, 018 Rules: 1) Swimmers will be grouped according to age and will only be allowed to race in the same level as other swimmers. (For example, a level 3 swimmer can only race against other level 3 swimmers of the same age group). ) Boys can only race against boys and girls can only race against girls. Swimmers cannot participate in a race of different levels. 3) No Food Allowed on the pool deck, only water. 4) Parents must be quiet at the beginning of every race and are not allowed on the pool deck at anytime. 5) Parents and family members are welcome to watch from the bleachers, but must be seated at all times. 3

4 6) Swimmers must be dressed and on the pool deck at 9:00AM for the warm up. Swimmers who arrive after 9:15AM will not be allowed to swim. 7) Female swimmers must wear a full swim suit (no two piece suits allowed). Both boys and girls must wear swim caps and goggles. 8) No one is allowed to register for any event on the day of the swim meet. 9) Swimmers in level # level #3 must register for both events. Swimmers in level#4 - level#7 must register for 3 or more events. Here, we will introduce the main elements of all four strokes as well as proper streamlining through push offs, flip turns and racing starts. Alongside the emphasis on instruction, the FOAMYS will build up their strength and aerobic capacity by using their legs and kicking. Swimmers entering this group must be able to swim a lap of freestyle with face in the water and a lap of backstroke. (5 Meters). We will teach the rest. FOAMYS are not required to participate in our USS Competitions, but throughout the season if a swimmer, parent and the coaches agree they are certainly welcome to join. Boardys THE BREAK Geared towards 9-1-year-old swimmers with one year of lessons or similar background, the BOARDYS will continue to build upon instruction and fun in the pool. This group will break down the four strokes and now focus on body alignment and balance as well as stroke mechanics and technique. Swimmers entering this group must be able to swim a lap of free and back and have a working knowledge of breast and fly. BOARDYS are strongly encouraged to join the team at our USS meets. Radycals THE SWELL With a large group of swimmers who have many other interests, the RADYCALS Group is for swimmers who find it impossible to meet consistent practice and competition requirements. Primarily for 1 and over swimmers, this group will focus on building fitness levels through both training in the pool as well as on the deck, while still teaching proper stroke technique and preparing for competitions. Swimmers in this group must be able to swim all four strokes legally and be competent in freestyle and backstroke flip turns. Though there are no group requirements, all RADYCALS are encouraged to attend as many practices as possible per week as well as join the team at competitions. Gnarlys THE SURGE As our primary group for 9-1 year olds, The GNARLYS will be for swimmers with at least one year of competitive swimming who are committed to the team and meeting the groups practice and competition requirements. It is in this group that swimmers will prepare daily to compete against the best age group swimmers in the Metropolitan area. Through a well-designed weekly, monthly and yearly plan, this group will focus on stroke technique and drills while building to higher and higher levels of training. All swimmers will be consistently working on both personal as well as group goals. All GNARLYS must average between 4-5 practice per week and attend an average of 1 USS competition per month. Maverycks THE CREST Our senior group at Gatewayves, the MAVERYCKS will be comprised of 1-18 year olds who are fully focused and committed to their swimming and working towards Junior Olympics, Zone Qualifier, Senior Mets and Sectionals time standards. Practice sessions will focus on preparing for competitions and the yearly plan will be broken into different sections that will build towards enhanced performances at certain meets. As the MAVERYCKS are the oldest and most seasoned swimmers of the team they will be treated as, and relied to behave accordingly, as the mentors to all Gatewayves Swimmers. All MAVERYCKS must average 5 practices per week and attend at least one USS competition per month.
