If you have not yet booked, it would be greatly appreciated if you could put your name down ASAP. On the next two Friday nights, a table will be set up at which you can purchase your tickets for this event. For those who have reserved a table (or less than a full table) on the booking form, your tickets will be pre-packaged according to the number of people you have booked for. Come to the table and pay, and you can collect your tickets. In next week s newsletter there will be an article setting out the final details for the event. LONG DISTANCE SWIMMING We have purchased new lap counters for our long distance swimming night i.e. Program 3. With this Friday scheduled for the 1500 and 800 events you will (hopefully) get a chance to see the lap counters in operation. One of our Referees will be at the turn end of the pool to supervise our volunteer operators. CONGRATULATIONS SIENNA As a result of her efforts over the winter season SNSW has selected Sienna McDonald onto their NSW State Teams Short Course Team. There were only 10 girls chosen for the team in the 13/14 years age group, Sienna s selection having just turned 13 is a major achievement. Congratulations Sienna we are all very proud of you and hope you do well at the AIS. Sienna will be away from the 18 th 22 nd September staying at the AIS in Canberra with a meet held at the AIS Pool against other State teams being held from 20 th 22 nd.

2 SMNW 12/U WINTER MINI MEET SUNDAY 8 TH SEPTEMBER All Dolphins are eligible to enter this upcoming development meet to be held at Loreto Normanhurst. All entry costs will be paid by the club. If you do not swim an event on the day, we ask that you re-imburse the club $4.50 per event. Entries will close on Friday 23 rd August. Please complete a blue (boys) or pink (girls) entry card located next to the notice board at the pool. Entries can be given to our Race Secretary Kerrie McDonald on a Friday night or placed in the silver box for collection. CHRSL DOLPHINS WINTER SPRINT CARNIVAL The outline program for the Winter Sprint is shown below. The carnival starts at 6:00pm at the RSL club pool on Saturday, 07 September. Entry sheets and copies of the full program will be available from next Friday, 09 August, and entries ($1 per event) will close at the end of swimming on Friday, 23 August. Late entries will not be accepted. This carnival is open to all Dolphins and to any second claim member who has swum with us during the current Winter Season. Ribbons will be awarded to place getters in each age group and presented at our Winter Presentation Day, probably in late October. There are no qualifying times for the Winter Sprint. The only restriction is on the 100 metres Individual Medley. Swimmers must have swum this event on a club night without having been disqualified. While it is not necessary for older swimmers to have swum the 100 IM during the current season, it s not a bad idea. It will give you a better entry time. For younger swimmers who are still to swim their first 100 IM you still have tonight and another couple of nights to qualify. Please remember that to be eligible to swim the 100 IM on a club night swimmers less than 10 years old must first have completed 25m in all strokes without disqualification. Lane Cove has an outdoor 50m pool with a grandstand and large grassed area. We are targeting this one early in the season so swimmers can have an opportunity to get some Long Course times for the season. Please see our separate note about the difference in Long Course and Short Course times. Entries for this meet are limited and they are likely to close off early. We suggest you get your entries in prior to 25 th September. This will be a good opportunity for swimmers to get some Long Course times for the upcoming District Championships in November. 3 TECHNICAL OFFICIALS The Dolphins now have four more Technical Officials. In late July Lena Theuns was successfully assessed for the positions of both Chief Timekeeper and Timekeeper. Lena had previously held both these qualifications from Swimming NSW but they had lapsed when Swimming Australia introduced the current national system. Last Friday night three Dolphins, Suzanne Gale, Ewan Layton and Mick Starling, were successfully assessed as Timekeepers. Congratulations and well done to the four of you. Metro North West will be conducting presentations for all TO positions in October. Watch the Newsletter or see Ron Brettle for details. DOLPHINS CLUB RECORDS At the NSW State Age Championships held earlier this month we had 2 swimmers break Dolphins Club Records. Congratulations to Tyrone Albertyn (10 years) who broke both the 50m and 100m Butterfly records and Sienna McDonald (12 years) who broke the 200m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly and the 200m Individual Medley records. Well done to you both.
