2 Aquatic Camps MIAMI SHORES AQUATICS SWIM TEAM Camp will include stroke technique instruction, plyometrics/core strengthening exercises, water safety instruction, and aquatic games. GROUPS: All swimmers will be grouped according to age and ability level LUNCH-Lunch may be purchased for an additional $25./week or bring your own lunch. Lunches from home must be non-microwaveable and can not need to be refrigerated. This is NOT a Learn to Swim Camp. Child MUST know how to swim with rotary breathing at least 2 lengths of the pool (50 yards) to attend this camp. Our team is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. Our goal is to create a safe, friendly and fun environment that nurtures the competitive spirit of club/team swimming, such that all swimmers can achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials. In addition to great physical benefits of swimming we teach proper technique, racing strategy, personal discipline, mental toughness and team spirit. We provide a positive environment that encourages positive role modeling, selfmotivation, personal accountability and pride in winning and losing. The number of practice days is determined by the coach s recommendations. All youth interested in competitive swimming are invited to try-out for the team. 3 The Aquatic Center has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer their Learn to Swim Program. Each class must have a minimum of 4 participants to begin. Participants must preregister for all the classes. To Register: Residents may register two weeks before class. Nonresidents one week before class. (based on availability) Class Fees for all levels: Resident/Nonresident: $80./session $100./session Insurance for Children Classes: Resident/Nonresident: $12./$15. per year required IPAP (Infant & Parent Aquatics Program) 6 months to 3 years (one Child per parent) Younger children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and pre-floating skills. All Parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in their child s swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children. Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of front crawl. May: 4pm - 4:45 pm/ Tues. & Thurs. 11 am - 11:45 am BEGINNERS Beginner (Level 1 & 2) This class is for students 6 years and older. It introduces children with little to no water experience to basic swimming skills. Students will learn the front crawl and floating techniques. /April & May 11 am - 11:45 am SESSION DATES FOR ALL LEVELS May 1 - May 24 (2 lessons/wk for 4 /wks) June 12 - June 22 (4 lessons/wk for 2 wks) June 26 - July 6 (4 lessons/wk for 2 weeks) July 10 - July 20 (4 lessons/wk for 2 weeks) July 24 - August 3 (4 lessons/wk for 2 weeks) August 7 - August 17 (4 lessons/wk for 2 weeks) INTERMEDIATE Intermediate (Levels 3 & 4) This class is for students (6 years and older) who have successfully completed our beginners course and received instructor recommendation for advancement. In this course students will refine their front crawl, back crawl, and backstroke skills; as well as be introduced to breaststroke and butterfly. This training program designed to improve technique and endurance in preparation for Swim Team /April & May ADVANCED Advanced students can try out for Swim Team. ADULT SWIM LESSONS An introduction to swimming for adults. Focus is on comfort in the water, submersion, and floating. Tues. & Thurs. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that s cardio-conditioning, bodytoning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. S.W.A.T. Specialized Waterborne Athletic Training Class combines swim drills, with weight bearing exercises on the pool deck. Get ready to transform your body and push it to the next level. Must be at least 16 yrs. old Fees: $10./class LOW IMPACT CLASS This class emphasizes improving range of motion, stretching and strengthening muscles, and overall relaxation.
