The lessons will be taught in the warm water instructional pool. Starfish to Seal levels only (see page 37 for details about swim levels). Folsom Aquatic Center Junior Lifeguarding Participants will spend time each day learning rescue techniques, practicing first aid and CPR, playing games and doing fun activities in the water, honing swimming skills, building stamina in the water, and learning decision-making skills required to be a successful lifeguard. The course will be led by a team of Folsom Aquatic Center lifeguards and American Red Cross certified Lifeguard Instructors. Students who successfully complete the course will receive an American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard certificate. A swim test will be required on the first day of class. Dinner provided nightly. No matter what the season, it s always a great time to learn to swim or improve on skills and advance to the next level. Lessons are taught by the Folsom Aquatic Center s Swim and Safety instructors using a combination of Red Cross techniques and years of experience. Lessons are taught in the warmwater instructional pool and/or the 50-meter pool at the Folsom Aquatic Center. Refund policy: See the registration form on page 62 for our refund policy. Please note: Not all swim levels are offered during all time slots. Include your child s swim level (see list below) on the registration form along with the class date and time. On the first day of lessons, children in each class will be evaluated to confirm their swim ability and placed into groups appropriate for their skill level. The ratio of staff to children is 1:3 to 1:5 in the beginning swim classes; advanced classes could have higher ratios. Call for more information. Swim Ability Levels Parent/Tot: Children ages 6 months to 2 years with an instructor. Parents will get in the water to help children learn water adjustments, supported floats, kicks, and assisted entries through instruction and games. Starfish: Water Safety rules, enter & exit the water, blow bubbles, breath holding 5 seconds. Sea Horse: 5 bobs, front & back float 5 seconds, breath holding 10 seconds. Guppy: 10 bobs, front & back float 10 seconds, rollover from front-back, rollover from back to front, float 10 seconds on front and back. Goldfish: Breath holding 15 seconds, 15 bobs, front & back float 15 seconds, front & back kick 15 yards, boomerang, retrieve object from chest deep water. Little Dippers Fridays, June 1 August 10 10:30 a.m. Noon We ve reserved a special time on Friday mornings just for you and your little ones to enjoy the activity pool before it opens for public swimming. Little Dippers is exclusively for parents and kids ages 6 and under. All little dippers are required to exit the facility at the end of the program. Free re-entry at 1 p.m. AGES: 6 and under, with parent/guardian FEE: $5/person NOTE: Season passes are not valid during this special swim period. Pre-Competitive Swim Clinic with Sierra Marlins coaching staff This training clinic will provide coaching and instruction from the Sierra Marlins coaching staff, while training with some of the Marlins elite competitive age-group swimmers. Each practice will include 15 minutes of dryland, 15 minutes of coaching tips, and a 45 minute workout! Lifeguards are on duty to assure party-goers safety. Parties are two hours; advance reservations required. Parties may supply their own vegetable or fruit platter; limit two platters/party. Additional cheese or pepperoni pizzas may be ordered for $15/pizza; arrangements for additional pizzas must be made in advance. Call for party reservations; parties available starting May 26. Party host is allowed to enter the Folsom Aquatic Center 15 minutes prior to party start time. Splash Bash Birthday Party Package ($299) 20 party participants (youth or adult), ice cream cake; two pepperoni or cheese pizzas; all necessary tableware; punch or lemonade; shade canopy; tables and chairs; staff assistance.
