12 Understanding Chlorine Chlorine is a health hazard in many respects. To humans, when it i enters the body through the mouth, nasal passages or skin it collects in the fatty tissues of the human body and can be cancerous. It is explosive and combustible. The only reason that it is widely in use is that no better alternative has been available able until now! Chlorine is a strong and generally harmful chemical. It has its uses but there is a trade off in using it. Chlorine, once it is introduced into a liquid form begins to vaporize and dissipate from the liquid.
