2 Number 1 Regional Club in Australia The Toowoomba Grammar School Swimming Squad performed exceptionally well at the Australian Age Swimming Championships in Sydney from April Richard McLean Director of Swimming/Head Coach We were the Number 1 Regional Based Club in Australia! The TGS team had 11 competitors, most of whom competed in three or more events each, and we were up against over 100 Clubs from across Australia. TGS had seventeen finalists (these swimmers were ranked in the Top Ten in Australia in their events) and we had a further seven Reserve Finalists. Now the hard work begins for the next meet, which is the TGS Short Course Carnival 22 July. We also have a handful of swimmers travelling to Hobart for the Australian Schools Championships from July, followed by the Queensland Short Course Championships from August. 3 Technique Tips Cup Training Have you seen our students swimming with cups on their heads, and wondered what they are doing? This is a training technique; The cup is a quarter-filled with water and the swimmer must keep their head still and swim backstroke without the cup falling off. It s a fun drill that requires head position to be perfect. Squad Session Times Times for Holiday Period ALL SQUADS WILL OPERATE AS USUAL OVER THE JULY HOLIDAYS MORNING SESSIONS Junior Squad Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5:30-7:00am National, State and Intermediate Squads Monday to Friday: 5:30-7:00am AFTERNOON SESSIONS Junior Squad Monday to Friday: 3:30-4:30pm National, State and Intermediate Squads Monday to Friday: 4:30-6:00pm

4 Make up lessons will only apply to learn to swim participants Make up lessons will only be applicable if the office is notified of your child s absence 2 hours prior to the lesson commencing Make up lessons will only be available whenever there are vacancies There is a limit of 2 make up lessons per term which must be taken within the term of booking Make ups cannot be used as credits for lessons Little Guppy floating Three little Guppies sitting on the edge Guppy Class Toowoomba Grammar School Aquatic Centre offers classes from 6 months upwards. The Guppy Class is a very exciting time for the little swimmers because it s their first class without Mums or Dads. We focus on floating, bubbles, kicking, eyes in the water, water familiarization and the beginning of the independent LTS process. We have a number of Guppy classes Mondays to Fridays, both mornings and afternoons, as well as Saturday mornings. A little Guppy with style Oodles of fun with noodles! TIME TO REBOOK FOR LEARN TO SWIM CLASSES We are taking bookings from 11 June from our Term 2 swimmers, who get priority. All changes and new bookings will be taken from 18 June. 6 22 ND JULY 2018 RAFFLE DONATIONS & SPONSORSHIPS RAFFLE PRIZES The Toowoomba Grammar Swim Club is hosting its annual carnival on the 22 nd July 2018 and as this will be our major fundraiser for our swim club we are asking for donations towards its raffle prizes to be drawn at the carnival. SPONSORSHIP OF AN EVENT The swimming carnival will have 54 events. We invite you or your business to become a sponsor. This will be a $50 sponsorship package. The package includes your details beside a corresponding event of your choice as well as your sponsorship announced throughout the day.
