If you use our facilities often, then a pool membership is your answer. A membership grants you admission to both Central Pool and during Open Swim sessions. (mc) SUMMER POOL PASS (YOUR BEST VALUE!) A family is defined as members of the same family residing at the same address. New and Renewal pool passes can be purchased at the Oak View Center, Community Pavilion, Ice Arena, and Racquet, itness & Gymnastics Center. Patrons are required to show current proof of residency (driver s license or state-issued ID) to receive resident rates. Pass holders must have their passes for entry into the facilities. All information and proof for each member on the membership must be included on the form and shown at the time of registration. No additions will be accepted. Additional non-household (not living at same address) members can be added as the Caregiver additional member, for babysitters/nanny-like individuals for households with young children (12 & under). A maximum of 2 Caregiver members are allowed per household membership. Members can enter ½ hour before the general public at 11:00am Sun-ri. 2 94th St. & Nashville Ave. 708/ Central Pool 94th St. & Kenton Ave. 708/ General Pool Information Closing Information Either of the 2 pools can close or their operating hours can be adjusted at the discretion of the park district for any of the reason listed: Air temperature is below 70 degrees Lightning is sighted or threatening weather The water is not chemically balanced There is a mechanical failure Lack of sufficient lifeguards Pool has less than 10 swimmers for 1 hour A child not toilet-trained must wear aqua diapers, a tight fitting plastic or rubber pants that are fitted around the legs and waist. Little Swimmers are for sale for $8 at each pool. Children age 10 & under are not permitted in the facility unless accompanied by an individual over 18 years old. Children with no swimming experience and all children age 5 and under must be within arm s reach of a parent at all times. It is recommended that all children under 48 tall wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket in and around the pool. NO ALCOHOL. No glass or controlled substances are allowed. This includes baby food in glass containers. No smoking inside and around the facility - our parks have gone smoke free. Coolers and food are allowed and will be checked. fety breaks will be announced at designated times. Adults and infants who cannot walk on their own will be allowed in the water during safety breaks. Children must be held at all times. No flotation devices are allowed in the pool. This includes water wings, noodles, inner tubes, etc. Lounge and deck chairs are for ages 16 years and older. Kenton Ave. or any questions please contact Mary Crout at mcrout@olparks.com (708) General Information: A minimum of 2 hours is required for all rentals If on your scheduled rental date, weather conditions are unfavorable, the Aquatics Director will determine if the pool rental needs to be rescheduled and will contact you. Cancellation must be done in person and the Oak Lawn Park District refund form must be filled out completely. Cancellation Policy Parties must be cancelled more than 5 days prior to the scheduled date. If cancelled less than 5 days before the party date, 10% of the payment will be withheld. Refunds will be not given if a party is cancelled less than 5 days from the scheduled date. PRIVATE POOL RENTALS SPLASH PAD CANOPY RENTAL Have your child s birthday or other special event in the Splash Pad at the. The Splash Pad can be reserved for your special occasion. The splash pad will be open to the public but you will have your own private area. The Canopy will be available for rent during open swim hours. All rentals are taken at the Administration Building at 9400 S. Kenton. 3 28 Learn To Swim Instruction The Oak Lawn Park District Learn-To-Swim Program is designed to teach swimming skills to toddlers, children and adults in a positive, happy and safe environment. Splish Splash through Level 6 will follow the American Red Cross guidelines for all swim levels. Please review the description of the various levels to ensure a positive experience. If you feel that you or your child s skills are between levels, please enroll in the lower level. Do not enroll in the higher level if your desired class is filled. Any child not toilet trained must wear an aqua diaper at all times. Aqua diapers are recommended. Little Swimmer s are available for purchase at each pool for ($8). Lessons are instructed in cool and windy weather and are only cancelled due to severe weather. The pool water is kept at 82 degrees, but may vary due to weather conditions. Make-up will be held only if the park district cancels. No make-ups will be issued for sickness or vacations. If weather is questionable and you are unsure your lesson are being held, please call (708) no sooner than 30 minutes before your lesson is scheduled. Parents are asked to sit in the concession area during your child s lesson. This is for the children s safety. Like a school setting, children perform better when they are able to give full attention to their instructors. Under no circumstances will parents and siblings be able to wait on the pool deck. Swim Lesson Levels Splish Splash (Parent & Child ages 6 months-4) $61/$71 Parents and children will work together on basic water skills. Parents will be taught different holding techniques while their child explores the water using basic arm and leg movements. Children will become familiar with submerging face into water, wearing a lifejacket, and entering and exiting the pool safely. The goal of this class is not designed to teach children to be able to survive in water alone; all skills are performed with support. Classes will mainly consist of singing songs and playing games to get your tot adjusted to the water. Tiny Tots (ages 3-5) $61/$71 Participants must be able to stand on their own to enroll. Participants will explore and learn basic water skills such as blowing bubbles, submerging face, and retrieving objects submerged in shallow water. They will learn to perform basic arm and leg movements independently, swim and float with support, become comfortable wearing a lifejacket, and learn to enter and exit the pools safety. The goal of this class is not designed to teach children to be able to survive in water alone; most skills are performed with support of the instructor. Participant will sing songs and play games to become more comfortable in the water. Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (ages 5 & up) Participants of this class will learn emerging stroke skills with support. They will strengthen arm and leg movements on their front and back, and learn to combine them with support. They will perform front and back floats and glides with support. Participants will learn to enter and exit the water independently, swim with a lifejacket, and retrieve a submerged object in shallow water. Level 2: undamental Aquatic Skills (ages 5 & up) Participants must be able to submerge face to enroll. Participants will learn the basic techniques of front and back crawl. They will begin to swim unassisted in 3.5 feet water. Participant will learn to independently float and glide on their front and back, swim with a lifejacket, and retrieve a submerged object. They will learn to tread water and begin to explore deep water with support. Level 3: Stroke Development Participants must be able to submerge entire head to enroll. Participants will begin to perfect their front and back crawl, and will learn correct rotary breathing for front crawl. They will begin to explore other strokes, such as elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke. They will develop deep water skills such as treading and survival floating. Diving will be introduced in this level from a sitting and kneeling position. Level 4: Stroke Improvement Participants must be able to swim independently and be comfortable in deep water to enroll. This class is mostly taught in the diving well. Participants will learn to perform open turns for front and back crawl for distance swimming, and will learn combined breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. They will perfect rotary breathing for front crawl. They will learn to tread in deep water and dive from a standing position. Level 5: Stroke Refinement Participants must be able to swim 25 yards (one pool length) of front and back crawl to enroll. Participants will begin to learn swim-team skills such as shallow dives and flip turns for front and back crawl. Strokes will be perfected in this class. Participants will learn to swim front and back stroke for 50 yards using correct turns. 5 1 30 Swim Level 6 Swimming and Skill Proficiency (Age: 12 & up) Participants of this class will refine strokes to swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 also introduces other aquatic activities and offers three options: Personal Water fety, undamentals of Diving and itness Swimmer. These options focus on preparing participants for more advanced aquatics activities, such as competitive swimming and diving.(mc) Location: Central Pool Tu,Th 6/12-7/05 5:30-6:30P Tu,Th 7/10-8/02 5:30-6:30P Youth Interest Springboard Diving (Age: 8 & up) These lessons are an introduction to diving and are recommended for those participants who are enrolled in Advanced Level classes and are looking for skills beyond the Advanced Level. Classes are conducted in the deep end of the pool. Participants must have passed Level 3 and must be able to swim the length of the pool. Improves balance, flexibility and provides a great cardiovascular workout. It also aids in muscle strength and development. Swimming laps and Aqua Jogging are great ways to stay healthy and fit! Punch cards are required for entry to the pool and are sold in increments of 5 or 10 visits. Participants age 15 and are allowed to participate with a responsible adult. Summer Splash Swim Camp (Age: 6-14) Looking for ideas to keep the kids occupied for the last week before school starts? Enroll them in Summer Splashes Swim Camp at the newly renovated. This camp is a great way to enhance your swimmers self-esteem, develop skills and improve their ability to perform in the water. What a great way to keep fit and make new friends. Camp will consist of 2 hours of water time with skill based instruction in swimming, diving, safety skills and more. The remainder of the camp will be spent doing outdoor activities, crafts and a snack. 6 Adult Swim Lessons (Age: 15 & up) It's never too late to enjoy the water, learn to swim or to improve your strokes. These classes will help those who lack comfort and technique. Discover how rewarding swimming can be! (mc) Level I -This very beginner class will help adults become comfortable in the water by learning proper entry into the water, proper exit from the water, bobbing, and basic floats, kicks, and arm circles M,W 6/11-7/09 7:00-7:50P M,W 7/16-8/08 7:00-7:50P American Red Cross Lifeguard Challenge Course (Age 16 & up) This class is for those that are already certified Life Guards who are in need of re-certification. Rescue skills in the water and on land; irst aid training and professional rescuer CPR to help you prepare for any emergency; and additional lifeguards responsibilities like interacting with the public and addressing uncooperative patrons. Participants must pass this 300 pre-qualifying swim in order to participate in the challenge. If a participant does not pass, a 90% refund will be given. Participants must be 16 years or old to register for this course. (Please note: The Oak Lawn Park District does not hire anyone under the age 16) Successful completion of this class does not guarantee employment with the Oak Lawn Park District Aquatics Department.
