1 Australian Youth Open Match Play The inaugural Australian Youth Open for 2016 is a trial event to test the interest, feasibility and format with the expectation that with enough interest this will become an annual event. Participants The event is open to all recurve and compound archers in the U20 and below age groups. However, anyone entering this event, irrespective of age, should demonstrate a level of competency as per the minimum qualifying score (MQS) found in Appendix A of this document. The closing date for the acquiring of the MQS is 30 days prior to the commencement of the event 11.59pm 28 th February MQS will be as per Archers Diary, but where there is any doubt about achieved scores the organising committee (OC) reserves the right to investigate results via AA or the relevant RGB. Applicable MQS must be shot at a registered QRE, AA or RGB event. Club events will not be considered. The round shot must match the round the archer registers to shoot in the AYO. There will be no consideration given for adjusted scores from similar events/rounds. Submitted MQS can be shot between 1/1/2015 and the closing date above. Registration Participants will complete a specific registration form for the Australian Youth Open (AYO). Participation in the NYAC does not register an archer for the AYO. Being a test event, costs are being kept to a minimum with entry for the whole event being $50 per archer. Prizes $1000 will be provided to this event to be equally divided amongst the winners of the Individual Match play - $250 per division. Being a Youth event the prize money shall be in the form of gift certificates to the archery store of the winning archer s choice. Medals will be provided by AA in line with those provided for the Australian Open. The Event Ranking Round will be shot on the morning of the first day. The round will be a WA 720 Round as per that listed below for Individual Match Play. Individual Match Play will be shot as a Round Robin event following which, depending on numbers, the top 4 or 8 archers will compete in elimination rounds with medal matches shot under timed alternate shooting. Archers will be placed into equalised Round Robin pools based on their ranking round score.

2 Distances for Individual match play will be as follows: Compound Men Women Recurve U20 Men 70m (122cm) U20 Women All Others All Others 70m (122 cm) 60m (122cm) 60m (122cm) Medals Gold, Silver and Bronze awarded to the top 3 archers for Male Compound, Female Compound, Male Recurve and Female Recurve. There will be no divisions based on age. Mixed Team Match play will be shot as an elimination event as per WA rules Top 16 teams to participate only. Teams will be established based on their ranking rounds as per YOG rules, eg top ranked male with bottom ranked female, top ranked female with bottom ranked male, etc. Distances for Mixed Team match play will be as follows: Compound Recurve all shooting 60m 122cm Medals Gold, Silver and Bronze awarded to the top 3 mixed teams for Compound and Recurve. There will be no divisions based on age. Note: where the numbers of males and females are uneven, teams will be arranged as same sex teams (up to the limit of 16 teams). All teams participating will be awarded medals if they finish in the top 3 positions. Team Match play will be shot as an elimination event as per WA rules. Teams will be established based on their ranking rounds with teams established in such a way as to ensure the teams are as equal in ability as possible (format to be finalised). Distances for Team match play will be as follows: Compound Recurve all shooting 60m 122cm Medals Gold, Silver and Bronze awarded to the top 3 teams for Compound and Recurve. There will be no divisions based on age.

3 Note: where the numbers of males and females are uneven, archers of different sex will be placed into teams. These archers can progress through to the medal matches and can be awarded medals for placing in the event. Where numbers do not allow for a full team of three to be formed, the lowest ranked archer/s will miss out on shooting the event. Team Selection Team selection criteria for both Mixed Teams and Teams will be decided by the OC and will be published at least 30 days prior to the event. Teams will be selected and published as early as possible at the completion of the ranking round (Day 1, session 1). Visiting Teams Overseas visiting teams will be encouraged to attend, but must commit to the mixed team and team match play selections as laid out above. Members of visiting teams will be eligible to receive any medal if they finish in one of the top three places. However, if there are vouchers or prizes available these will be awarded to the highest placed Australian archers, as the prize money provided is from a fund specifically dedicated to the development of Australia s youth archers.
