NOTE FOR YOUR DIARY: Team STTA Coaching restarts on Tuesday 11th September 2018 from pm at Graham Spicer Institute. Welcome to: Jamie Liu England No. 2 Cadet, moves to Surrey. Jamie has shown his commitment to play for Team STTA by signing up for Cadet matches in October and Junior matches later in the season. Jamie is also the first player to sign up for the Performance Squad training in January Jamie is to attend the Whitgift School in Croydon where he will be coached by Team STTA s Goran Maric. If you can answer yes to these questions, then why not enter the Surrey U13 s Closed Championship (with separate boys and girls events) being held on Saturday 22 nd September 2018 at Graham Spicer, Dukes Avenue, New Malden KT3 4HL (opposite: New Malden Railway Station). Team STTA are taking a number of our U13 cadets (to include 6 girls) to a joint coaching development session with Sussex on Sunday 2 nd September 2018 to gain some valuable extra training and experience for the season ahead. A word from your Team STTA Coaches. You will now find us wearing our yellow Team STTA coach strip. Team STTA insist on the best and safest environment as a minimum, and to give you peace of mind all Team STTA coaches are individually selected by us and are Table Tennis England Licenced Coaches with full enhanced DBS, with up to date insurances, safeguarding certificates and current experience. Team STTA s Junior Training Camps continue to be a huge success. It has been really great to see new players coming on and shining during the sessions and who are keen to attend future Team STTA coaching sessions. We have a good number of new young boys and girls coming through the ranks who are constantly learning and improving. We currently have 14 England U13 s ranked in the top 100 eight of these are ranked in the top 50 in England which is brilliant. The future is bright for Team STTA. We hope to further increase our ties with our partners in adjoining counties, providing additional inter -county play, matches and events, and perhaps some shared camps to offer an even better table tennis experience for all! Team STTA Coaches are on hand each week to answer your questions and to provide you with advice on a range of issues. Remember to keep hydrated at all times in this very hot weather. We are looking forward to seeing you at our future sessions. If you are able to help us provide a balanced and exciting programme in any way or know someone who may be able to help, please do let one of us know. We would welcome any extra help to improve upon what we do and how we do it. We look forward to seeing you soon! 2 International News: Ollie Maric-Murray, on obtaining his first full England Cap by representing England, wins bronze in Euro Minis, U11 competition in Strasberg, showing that he can compete with and beat some of the best in Europe. Ollie won 2 out of 3 matches in his group only losing in the 1 st round of the main draw. Ollie went on to play in the consolation event and after winning a further 6 matches finished in 3 rd place to be awarded a very credible bronze medal. Well done Ollie! Danielle Kelly went to train in Austria before playing in the Oostende Open. Danielle performed extremely well in the U18 event, losing only to the Dutch No. 1 having already dispensed with the Dutch No. 2 to clinch 3 rd place to be awarded a very credible bronze medal. Well done Danielle! Team STTA sends a big thank you to our International Umpire Margot Fraser for offering to referee our forthcoming Cadet and Junior County matches along with our newest County Umpire who has also kindly offered to umpire at some Cadet and Junior County matches during the season. Well done on your selection and the best of luck for the coming season. This makes Team STTA s U13 s Closed Tournament to be held on Saturday 22 nd September 2018 at Garaham Spicers even more important as there is everything to play for to be selected for one of Surrey s other Cadet teams. So show us what you can do! Our players would certainly like your support so please do come and cheer them on if you can and give them a lift, tea and coffee provided throughout the proceedings.
