3 Referee's Report Page 3 of 3 Remarks by Referee: No. Comments As everything is shown on internet via live scoring it is easy to forget on regular basis do the updating in the hall. Improved during the tournament. Flashes with latest news published every day and posted both in hall at hotel. Many of the staff working with the tournament has a lot of experiences and it was used during the whole tournament. Umpires/service judges improved during the tournament and especially those who attended the course given by Badminton Europe. Good coaching and feedback were given during the tournament. 4 Line judges: they improved during the tournament, need some more coaching to be even better Scheduling/timelines: well calculated on beforehand. Only minor delays partly during tournament but most 5 of the time ahead of schedule. 6 Prize giving ceremonies which include 3 rd and 4 th places functioned very well. The ceremonies handled quickly but with full respect to players. 7 Organisers experience: varied but some of them showed good experience from previous tournament. A good mixture of ages. 4 Referee's Report Page 4 of 4 Remarks received from chairman of organisations committee: a b c If comparing with past tournaments organized by Sports Union Kalev in the same hall in June (Kalev Open & Kalev International), the support provided by Yonex and Badminton Europe was great. Using good mats and top equipment from the net posts up to live scoring, the past tournaments look like as backyard events. The organizers are going to upgrade their activities for next tournaments regarding to acquired experience with the excellent equipment. Now the organizers know the influence of live scoring and live streaming to the tournament running and can be better prepared for next tournaments. The hall and equipment layouts are now tested and there is no essential issues, that organizer does not know before next tournaments. Most of important issues/errors from scheduling up to transportation logistics are recorded. Transports from Airport to hotel sometimes were late. Some paperwork can be more appropriate and more timely prepared and displayed. This was challenge for small badminton community start up of Badminton Europe Circuit tournaments in Estonia despite to scanty local human and financial resources. The co-operation with supporting institutions and professionals was great. Badminton Estonia wishes is to co-operate when running the next tournaments. The BE umpires course in Estonia was very important for Estonian umpires for this first and coming Estonian International tournaments. Despite that the tournament was covered mainly with just trained young umpires from Estonia and Russia, there was no essential incidents, where the young team was week to solve the problems. Michael Nemec and Ivan Skacha support was great for all umpires working on the tournament. The entering can be upgraded using entry forms (excel file) suitable for quick data transferring of player s properties into Badminton Tournament Planner. The proposal is prepared and the advantages of use are primary listed. The coming Yonex Estonian International 2010 can be used as pilot tournament for experimenting the new entry form use and entries publishing right after closing date in few hours, including possibility to find partners for MD, WD and XD in few days after closing date. For new entry form legalisation: Some upgrade of Badminton Tournament Planner is needed, for including the players properties quick data transferring from excel file to TP file. The solid entry form for all BE Circuit tournaments is needed, i.e. organizers are not more preparing the entry forms as annexes to tournaments invitations; national associations just fill the entry form published on the BEC website and sent to tournament organizer address. d There are some reasons to have 3. place match in BE Circuit tournaments: 1: Audience can see 2 matches simultaneously final and 3. place match of each event; this is more interesting, because happens, that the final is not so interesting to follow; this is more interesting, because can be so, that the host country players are more involved in finals day, i.e. more audience is visiting the hall, especially in smaller counties, where badminton is not so popular sport. 2: The semi-finalists, who lose these matches, are anyway in hall/town; they can play and be called to pedestal, also players archived the 4th places - this is nice and good for badminton promotion, especially in smaller counties. 3: Some organizers are looking BE Circuit tournament as their home country open championships, namely in small countries; i.e. the 3. place medals can be delivered good and nice for badminton promotion, especially in smaller counties. For 3rd place legalisation: The opportunity to publish 3rd place matches in Badminton Tournament Planner is needed. The opportunity to have more BWF ranking points for 3rd place winner is needed.
