2 Introduction Canadian National Doubles Championships March 2009 The Canadian National Championships are expected to attract over 200 participants and spectators from across the Pacific Northwest, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and the United States. The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club will provide an excellent venue - located only minutes from downtown Vancouver. Additional participating clubs are Hollyburn Country Club, Vancouver Racquets Club, and Evergreen Squash Club. This is the most prestigious annual Amateur Doubles Squash event in Canada, and the caliber is considered to be the highest in amateur play. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the tournament, providing a great opportunity to showcase your company s products and services. The squash community is not only an extremely active demographic, but individuals are typically very supportive of tournament sponsors and their services or products. ISDA / WDSA Vancouver Pro Doubles Championships April 2009 Squash British Columbia, The International Squash Doubles Association (ISDA), and The Women s Doubles Squash Association (WDSA) are proud to present 24 of the world s best doubles squash players at the 2009 Vancouver Pro Doubles Championships - to be held in April of This is the 3rd annual event at one of the most prestigious private clubs on the West Coast, The Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver. The field of players hails from around the world including England, New Zealand, Australia, United States and Canada, with special representation by the current World Number One ranked player, local Vancouverite Viktor Berg. On the woman s side the entries will also include a number of players from around the globe including current World Number Four ranked Softball player Natalie Granger of New Zealand. Teams will be competing for a combined prize purse of $50,000. Game play at the professional level is truly exciting and extremely fast-paced, with players displaying incredible athleticism. Upon witnessing a Pro Doubles Squash event, the sports agent for Tiger Woods from IMG was quoted as saying: The best sporting event I have ever witnessed!. The program provides academic tutoring, squash coaching and community service opportunities three days a week, to challenge and engage the students, and to encourage them to fulfill their potential.

Students will receive homework help, as well as further tutoring in academic skills.

Community Service Cultural Trips College Preparation Coastal Squash is an after-school program for under served youth. The program provides academic tutoring, squash coaching and community service opportunities three days a week, to challenge and engage the students, and to encourage them to fulfill their potential. To give our students the best chance to succeed in school, and in life, we will work with each student to help them achieve their potential in their academic studies. Students will receive homework help, as well as further tutoring in academic skills. The goal of our academic program is to help our students improve their study habits, grades, and increase their enjoyment of school overall. Squash is an excellent physical workout and is widely recognized as one of the healthiest sports to play. Our focus is to coach the students to reach their highest potential on the court - developing fitness, technical and tactical skills, and sportsmanship. Not to mention, of course, having fun in the process. Coastal Squash students will have the opportunity to head out into the community every six weeks to perform community service projects. These trips could include visiting elderly people in a nursing home, helping at a food bank, and tending community gardens. Coastal Squash students will also engage in field trips to cultural centres such as museums, plays, and science centres. We will work with all junior and senior students, to prepare for potential colleges, and to help each student find the educational options best suited to their needs and abilities. 14 August 17, 2008 Dear Potential Sponsor, In the spring of 2009 Vancouver will proudly host two world-class doubles squash events: the 75th Annual Canadian National Doubles Squash Championships and the ISDA/WDSA Vancouver Pro Championships. The volunteer committee is seeking the support of local organizations and individuals in order to hold first class events as well as to support a new local charity, Coastal Squash. Coastal Squash is an after-school enrichment program for inner city youth. Vancouver will be the first Canadian city to benefit from this type of program, which combines squash, academic tutoring and community service. The program aims to encourage and motivate participants in a safe and balanced environment to develop skills, self esteem, and confidence that will help them succeed in their everyday lives. Coastal Squash is based on a model that has been extremely successful and well received in multiple cities across the United States, and the BC Doubles Squash Committee is proud to support it s launch here in Vancouver.
