Keep it on Player places the shuttle on their racquet Player attempts to move about the gym and keep the shuttle on the racquet Variation: have student move through an obstacle course, pick up objects 2. Keep it up Player stands in one spot Player attempts to tap the shuttle in the air continuously Variation: have student move about the gym, pick up objects 3. Catch it Player tosses shuttle in the air Player attempts to catch the shuttle on the racquet without the shuttle bouncing Partners 1. Cooperative keep it up Player A taps the shuttle underhand to their partner Player B taps the shuttle back underhand to their partner Keep track of how many taps between partners KEY: move your feet! Variation: over a line, bench, net 2. Cooperative catch it Player A tosses the shuttle to their partner

6 Player B attempts to catch the shuttle on their racquet Player B then tosses the shuttle back to their partner Player A attempts to catch the shuttle on their racquet Variation: hit underhand to their partner 3. Overhead Clear-Catch Player A starts off by feeding underhand clear Player B returns shot by overhead clear Player A catches shuttle either by hand or on racquet Variation: Player A continuously feeds underhand 4 Overhead Clear-Return-Catch Player A feeds underhand Player B returns shot by overhead clear Player A returns shot by overhead clear Player B catches shuttle either by hand or on racquet Player B now feeds underhand Multiple Players 1. Team Rally Create groups of 4-6 players per side Each team should have 2 racquets and 1 shuttle Player A1 starts off against Player B1, all other players stand off the baseline After A1 contacts the shuttle to B1, A1 moves off the court and hands racquet to A3 Player A2 should now move on to the court for A1 Player B1 contacts the shuttle to A2, and then moves off the court and hands racquet to B3 Player B2 should now move on to the court for B1 Player A2 now contacts the shuttle to B2 Continue sequence Initially only allow clears 2. Semi-Circle Create groups of 4-6 players with one player in a central position Players rally to and from the central player working cooperatively Encourage players to call out for shuttles Rotate central player after each minute Variation: use a circle formation, pass over a bench

7 3. Around the World Create groups of 4-6 players per side Each team should have 2 racquets and 1 shuttle Similar to Team Rally except Player A1 moves to the end of the opposite line 4. Royals of the Court Teams of 2 Team 1 starts on the far side of the court as the Royals Team 2 starts on the near side of the court as the heirs to the throne Team 3 starts off the court Play: Team 3 serves to Team 1 who then has a rally with Team 2 Winner of the rally determines location and movement If Royals win, they stay and score 1 point, Challengers go to the end of the line If Royals lose, they are dethroned and new Royals (Team 2) takes the throne Servers become new heirs to the throne unless they miss a serve Only score points as Royals, minus points if you miss serves 5. Ball Machine (Forehand/Backhand) Use this concept to teach any of the strokes Groups of 4 or more on half court Designate 1 student as the ball machine This student feeds balls by either tossing or hitting depending on their skill level Rest of the students form a single file line to hit the shots from the ball machine Student hits their shot, then goes to retrieve their ball and place in the ball machine. Then they return to the end of the line
