3 Effective Immediately: A clarification to page 100, 7.13 A. 1) and page 102, B. 1) & 2) has been made to the published 2017 ATP Official Rulebook. It is noted in italics below: Page 100, 7.13 Selection of Entries A. Singles Main Draw 1) Direct Acceptances. Direct acceptances are players accepted directly in the draw by virtue of their position in the Emirates ATP Rankings (singles) or by their protected ranking position (singles). The list to be used for ATP World Tour tournaments shall be dated approximately forty-two (42) days prior to the Monday of the (fi rst) tournament week and twenty-one (21) days prior to the Monday of the tournament week for ATP Challenger Tour tournaments. Page 102, 7.13 Selection of Enries B. Singles Qualifying 1) Direct acceptances ATP World Tour. Direct acceptances are players accepted directly in the draw by virtue of their position in the Emirates ATP Rankings (singles) or by their protected ranking position (singles). The list to be used for ATP World Tour tournaments shall be dated approximately twenty-one (21) days prior to the Monday of the tournament week. 2) Direct acceptances ATP Challenger Tour. Direct acceptances shall first be selected from players who sign in with the highest position on the most recent Emirates ATP Rankings list (singles), including a protected ranking (singles). The following changes are all Effective Immediately: 2 Feb 2017 To correct pages 36-37, 3.08 A. 3) Doubles please add i) and noted in italics below: Doubles: Should a doubles match in an ATP World Tour or ATP Challenger Tour event be uncontested* or fail to be completed, the losing team shall only receive points and prize money from the previous round unless one of the following is applicable: i) For ATP World Tour events if the retiring/withdrawing player was the next event in which he is entered (singles or doubles). For ATP Challenger events if the retiring/withdrawing player was the following week s event (single or doubles) after the withdrawal deadline. * A team withdrawing from the first round will not receive prize money even if there is not an alternate team. To correct page 201, 9.04 E. c) please add i) and noted in italics below: E. Points. The provisions set forth under 9.03.E.1), 2) and 3) related to the Emirates ATP Rankings apply to doubles as well, the point table being similar, except that the second-round loser column becomes irrelevant. No points are awarded in the fi rst round at any event. Should a doubles match in an ATP World Tour or Challenger Tour event be uncontested* or fail to be completed, the losing team shall only receive points and prize money from the previous round unless one of the following is applicable: i) For ATP World Tour events if the retiring/withdrawing player was the next event in which he is entered (singles or doubles). Please add the Case and Decision below to pages 36 before Doubles and to the top of page 334 Section XI. Cases & Decisions. Case: If a player qualifies, accepts a special exempt or accepts a wild card and becomes a main draw player, can he receive on-site prize money if otherwise eligible? Decision: Yes. once he is accepted into the main draw as a qualifier, special exempt or wild card, he can receive on-site prize money compensation if otherwise eligible. To correct page 87, 7.07 Play-Up Regulation (ATP Challenger Tour Tournaments) please replace the entire page with the ATTACHED new page 87.
4 Effective Immediately: 9 Feb 2017 but not sent before 28 March 2017 Please add the Case and Decision below to pages 36 before Doubles and to the top of page 334 Section XI. Cases & Decisions. Case: A player who is not on-site withdraws after the 12 noon, Friday deadline and comes on-site to do promotional activity or to be medically examined (Challengers) in order to avoid the applicable penalties. Is he eligible for first round prize money compensation? Decision: No. The player must be on-site at the time of the withdrawal in order to be eligible for first round prize money compensation under the rule. Effective Immediately: 3 March 2017 but not sent before 28 March 2017 A correction to page 31, 2.02 Identification ATP Challenger Tour Tournaments, 2) ATP Challenger Tour Brand Mark: Optional Applications has been made below. Changes noted in italics. 2) 3) ATP Challenger Tour Brand Mark: Optional Applications b) On-court Ball Persons / Linesmen If a tournament wishes to use the appropriate ATP Challenger Tour Brand Mark World Tour Official Tournament Stamp on the uniforms of ball persons or linesmen, the application of the ATP Challenger Tour Brand Mark World Tour Official Tournament Stamp must be approved in advance by the ATP. A correction to page 15, 1.11 E. has been made below in italics. E. All division I ATP player members must complete an ATP University refresher course every two years after completing the ATP University as prescribed and designed by ATP. Any player Division I member who fails to complete the refresher course within the stated time period shall not receive the benefits of membership. Effective Immediately: 28 April 2017 A new Case & Decision has been addd to page 142 in R. Miscellaneous Officiating Cases and Decisions, after the C&D Ball Hits Net Post Signage and in the Cases & Decisions, Chapter XI, page 362: Ball hits Overhead Camera Cable Case: A player throws up a lob which is over the court and it hits the cable supporting Spider Cam which is positioned diagonally across the court from the service line to baseline. Is the point awarded to the opponent; is the point replayed; or does play continue? Decision: The cable is considered a permanent fixture and therefore, it is a loss of point. noted below in bold A. 1) f) 1) ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Tournaments Main Draw. aa) Singles: Rooms for singles players bb) Lucky Loser: The number one (1) lucky loser to sign in the Lucky Loser list each day shall receive accommodation through each night he is eligible to be inserted into the draw. bb) cc) Doubles: Rooms for doubles players cc) dd) Sunday Start. NOTE: Singles Hospitality for Indian Wells 1.21 A. 1) f) 2) ATP World Tour 500 Tournaments Main Draw. aa) Singles: Rooms for singles players bb) Lucky Loser: The number one (1) lucky loser to sign in the Lucky Loser list each day shall receive accommodation through each night he is eligible to be inserted into the draw. bb) cc) Doubles: Rooms for doubles players cc) dd) Sunday Start. Effective Immediately for post-wimbledon events: 03 July 2017 A Note has been added to the bottom of the Limit of Use rule regarding a Player s Entry Protection as noted below in bold: Page 198, 9.03 F. 3) Limit of Use. 1) If a player is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for a period of at least six (6) months but less than twelve (12) months, the entry protection shall be in effect for the first nine (9) singles and the first nine (9) doubles tournaments that the player competes* in using the entry protection (excluding wild cards and entries as a direct acceptance with his current position in the Emirates ATP Rankings) or for the period up to nine (9) months beginning with the first tennis event, including Special Events Exhibitions, that the player competes in, whichever occurs first. 2) If a player is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for a period of twelve (12) months or longer, the entry protection shall be in effect for the first twelve (12) singles tournaments and the first twelve (12) doubles tournaments that the player competes* in using the entry protection (excluding wild cards and entries as a direct acceptance with his current position in the Emirates ATP Rankings) or for the period up to twelve (12) months beginning with the first tennis event, including Special Events Exhibitions, that the player competes in, whichever occurs first. *Note: For purposes of this rule, once the player is included in the draw or accepts prize money as an on-site withdrawal, the event shall count against the players total as specified under the a) and Effective Immediately for all post-wimbledon events: 03 July 2017 Please insert the following as new bb) on page 20 under i) ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Tournaments Main draw and ATP World Tour 500 Tournaments Main Draw as
5 Effective Immediately for post-wimbledon events: 03 July 2017 A change to the alternate sign-in has been made and affects severage pages of the rulebook as noted below in bold: 7.04 Entry/Withdrawal Method C. Qualifying 3) Time. The ATP Challenger Qualifying Sign-in shall begin no later than 7 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. local time on the night prior to the start of the qualifying competition (Friday night for a qualifying commencing on Saturday). The ATP World Tour Qualifying Alternate sign-in shall begin no later than 4 p.m. and close at 6 p.m. local time on the night prior to the start of the qualifying competition (Friday night for a qualifying commencing on Saturday). There shall also be an Alternate sign-in on the day of first round qualifying play, this deadline is one-half hour prior to the first scheduled qualifying match. This is a new sign-in and any player who is on-site and with an ATP ranking is eligible to sign-in The Draw B. Composition of Draws 3) Qualifying: Sign in for ATP Challenger singles qualifying shall begin no later than 7 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. local time on the night prior to the start of the qualifying competition (Friday night when qualifying commences on Saturday). The Alternate Sign-In for ATP World Tour singles qualifying shall begin no later than 4 p.m. and close at 6 p.m. local time on the night prior to the start of the qualifying competition (Friday night when qualifying commences on Saturday). There shall also be an Alternate sign-in on the day of first round qualifying play, this deadline is one-half hour prior to the first scheduled qualifying match. This is a new sign-in and any player who is on-site and with an ATP ranking is eligible to sign-in. Once the qualifying competition has begun, only those players who ultimately qualify and lucky losers may be accepted into the main draw. The qualifying competition commences when the first ball of the first qualifying match is struck. Cases & Decisions, Page 102 and Page 339 as noted below in bold: Can I Sign In Case: A tournament with an advanced entry qualifying holds an Alternate Sign-In on Friday night. If a player does not sign-in on Friday night, may he sign-in on the Saturday morning Alternate signin sheet? Decision: No. To be eligible for the day of alternate sign-in, the player must sign-in the night before prior to the sign-in deadline. Yes. Following the sign-in occurring prior to the qualifying draw being made, the Alternate sign-in on the day of first round play is a new list and any player who is on-site and with an ATP ranking is eligible to sign-in. ATP POLICY NOTE: The above does not apply if there is not a night before sign in. Effective Immediately: 11 July 2017 New Pre-Tournament Media Activity has been added to page 175 as follows in bold: 8.03 Player Code of Conduct ( The Code ) M. 4) q) Pre-Tournament Media Availability All players will be required, if requested, to take part in media availability (not to exceed 2 hours in total) prior to and during prior to their first match at each tournament. Effective Immediately: 11 July 2017 Please note a correction to page 74, 6.22 A. 2) as noted below in bold: 2) In addition, the tournament is required to provide at its own cost appropriate furniture, water, fruit and television or court monitoring systems for the testing facility as well as staff assistance for site set-up and facility maintenance during the tournament and a telephone line. Please correct page 61, 6.01 D. 2) a) as noted below in bold: a) ATP World Tour Tournaments. Lighting must be evenly distributed on the court with a minimum recommended intensity of 100 foot-candles (1076 LUX), averaged over 15 readings on court. The recommended minimum lighting for televised events broadcasting in high defi nition is an average of 185 foot candles (approximately 2,000 lux). The light should be distributed across the court evenly with a consistent color temperature. Effective Immediately: 26 July 2017 Please note the change to the NOTE on page 78, 7.03 Entry Deadlines 2) as noted below in bold: NOTE: For ATP World Tour qualifying tournaments, withdrawals occurring after 12 noon Eastern Time USA and prior to the draw* will be filled from that night s alternate sign-in. Vacancies occurring after the release of the qualifying draw, will be filled from the next day s on-site alternate list. Players must personally sign-in to be eligible as an on-site alternate. * For events in a time zone where the qualifying draw is made prior to 12 Noon Friday, Eastern USA, vacancies occurring after the Qualifying Alternate sign-in deadline but prior to the qualifying draw shall be filled from that night s alternate sign-in. Effective Immediately: 26 July 2017 Please note the change to Exhibit W ATP Challenger Tour Court Surface ID on page 315 as attached. Effective Immediately: 27 July 2017 Due to the change to the sign-in rule, a Case & Decision has been deleted and a new one added. Please delete the Case & Decision below from pages 111 and 344. Advance Entry Qualifying Case 1: For events that have an Alternate sign in the night before qualifying begins, how are vacancies handled? Decision: If there are no eligible players remaining on the Advanced Entry list and there are not enough players who signed the On Site Alternate list
6 to fill the draw, then Byes are awarded and there is no sign-in the next morning. Case 2: Due to time zone differences, the withdrawal deadline is after 9 pm local time. How are vacancies handled? Decision: there is no alternate sign-in that night and the sign in is the morning of qualies. If there are vacancies when the q draw is made then vacancies are designated as Alternate positions and will be filled from the on-site sign-in on the morning of qualies. If there are not enough players that sign in to fill the alternate positions those places are filled by a random draw, i.e., the opponent of the alternate advances by No Match And replace in the same spot with the following: Advance Entry Qualifying Case: How are vacancies handled for ATP World Tour qualifying events if there are no eligible players remaining on the Advanced Entry list and there are not enough players who signed the Friday On Site Alternate list to fill the draw? Decision: If there are no eligible players remaining on the Advanced Entry list and there are not enough players who signed the Friday On Site Alternate list to fill the draw then Byes should be awarded to the seeded players by ranking order. Any additional vacancies occurring after the draw will be filled from the day of Alternate sign-in list. Effective Immediately: 09 August 2017 To correct pages 36-37, 3.08 A. 3) Doubles and page 157, 8.03, E. 3) and page 201, 9.04 E. please see changes below in bold.
