7 About ICT It s All About the Kids For InnerCity Tennis (ICT) Board, staff and volunteers, it is all about the children. The center of our universe is creating the opportunity for children and youth to manifest their greatest potential on and off court. With staff, teaching professionals and dozens of invaluable volunteers, we collaborate to give each child a pathway toward accomplishment, whether that be with a tennis stroke, learning geometry via the court, developing a unique literary voice through the annual Arthur Ashe Essay Contest or finding fulfilment through service learning with younger children at our Super Saturday program. Engaging our Tennis Community / Community Collaboration We strive to activate our broader tennis community of adults to support youth development through volunteerism and donations to support programs. Furthermore, we vigorously pursue strategic partnerships with community partners and businesses to harness collaborative impact and propel our program impact forward. Theory of Change We know that participation in ICT youth programs can and does provide a transformational space wherein children and youth experience mastery in learning, empowerment, joy, new knowledge, supportive mentoring through professional and volunteer coaches and a foundation for lifelong health and wellness. Our Theory of Change addresses the complicated problems that far too many children in Minneapolis face: poverty, health disparities, the opportunity and achievement gaps, and the adverse childhood experiences that arise due to these conditions. Support Us! InnerCity Tennis is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on the philanthropic support of generous individuals, foundations and corporations. The majority of our youth development programs are delivered at no cost to children in Minneapolis schools, on site at InnerCity Tennis and in Minneapolis parks. While, as a social enterprise, revenue generated by tennis activity on our 11 courts in part supports youth programming, ICT vigorously solicits support from diverse sources, including fundraising events, individual appeals, grants and corporate sponsorships. Mission We develop and unleash the potential of youth on and off the tennis court by engaging and serving a supportive community.
