2 Welcome to the Competition Pack for the LTA 10U County Cup Event. It is hoped the following information will help answer any questions you have about the Event. LTA County Cup Events gives a player the opportunity of representing their county in a competitive team environment and the age groups range from 9U through to adult categories. The LTA 10U County Cup Event was first played in 2000 with Lincolnshire boys & Surrey girls being the first winners. Since then, Yorkshire holds the record for the number of titles the boys having won the title 3 times and the girls 4. As with the 14U and 12U County Cup Events this County Cup competition is played in 2 stages. For both the Qualifying & Finals counties may nominate a maximum of 5 players. Each team plays 2 matches per day 3 singles and 1 doubles. All rubbers consist of 2 short sets and a deciding Match Tie Break. All rubbers, singles and doubles, are played using the no-ad scoring method at deuce, the receiver chooses which side the server should serve from. Doubles in the 10U County Cup Event will take place on the singles court. The singles sticks will remain in place. Any rubber played in the LTA 10U County Cup Event will not count for ranking points. Qualifying Event The 44 counties are placed in 4 x round-robin groups of 6 counties or 4 x round-robin groups of 5 counties per gender. These groups are placed in no particular order and they will compete over one weekend in order to find a winning team for that group to progress to the Finals. Counties have been placed in groups, & venues, to try and limit the amount of travelling time and accommodation expenses. All groups will be played on outdoor courts with the venues & referees / court supervisors being appointed by the LTA Support Centre. The winning teams from each group progresses to the Finals where 8 teams per gender will compete to be County Champions. The detailed Order of Play for the Qualifying Event is at the end of this pack. Finals The Finals will be played at Sunderland Tennis Centre on indoor acrylic courts. There will be 1 group of 8 counties per gender split into 2 x 4 county round-robin boxes with each county playing each other within their box and then the winner of Box A playing the winner of Box B to decide the County Champion, the 2 nd place county in each box to decide the Runner-Up, 3 rd place counties playing each other and the same with the 4 th place counties. Each county will play 1 match on Friday, 2 matches on Saturday and 1 on Sunday each match comprises of 3 singles and 1 doubles.
