1 LTA 14U COUNTY CUP Qualifying Saturday 5 to Monday 7 May 2018 Finals Friday 18 to Sunday 20 May 2018 LTA 14U County Cup Eent 2018 The structure of the 14U County Cup Eent was changed from promotion/relegation to a straight race (qualifying followed by a National Final) in 2011 in order to gie any county the opportunity of being County Champion for that year. We still feel this is the right structure and new counties hae emerged at the finals, howeer, there hae been four different qualifying draw formats for the Eent in this period. In 2017, 56% of captains gae feedback on the eent and proided an oerall excellent/good experience rating of 83%. We hae listened to the comments made about the draw format and are sympathetic to the points that hae been made to us, howeer, we feel it is right to continue to bring consistency to the format and feel the current format is the most appropriate to date. Based on this we will continue to use the same qualifying format as the 2016 and 2017 Eents. Therefore the 2018 qualifying eent format will be 2 x 4 county groups, 5 x 6 county groups and 1 x 5 county group per gender all playing on a round-robin basis to determine the qualifying county to progress to the National Finals. The 6 county groups will be split into 2 x 3 round-robin boxes playing each other oer the first two days followed by the winners, runners-up, 3rd and 4th placed teams playing each other on day 3. The 4 County group teams will play three matches oer three days as before and the 5 county groups will play oer 3 days playing between 1 & 2 matches a day. This draw format allows teams to qualify if they lose their first round match and for rubbers in a match to be completed before a team s next match starts. We will continue to reiew the start times and allocation of groups to enues to support Counties around trael and accommodation arrangements so to reduce any unnecessary financial costs. The start times of play are clearly outlined on the Order of Play and it is a county s own responsibility to check this + draw formats outlined in the Competition Pack and the Rules & Regulations of the Eent. The National Finals draw format has not changed.
