The tennis complex has 26 lighted tournament quality hard courts. Each court is individually fenced and supplied with windscreens for your convenience. Water fountains and on-court water coolers are spaced throughout the complex. Viewing areas are set up throughout the facility to observe matches. The Tennis Shop is located in the Kingwood Fitness & Sports Center. Complete lesson and junior development programs are available to Members and guests of both clubs. The tennis staff enjoys the well-earned reputation of providing the finest in service, merchandise and instruction for our Members. The Kingwood Fitness and Sports Center (KFSC) provides easy access to the Tennis Courts, Tennis Pro Shop, Locker Room, Kingwood Café, Kids Club and Fitness Center. Page 1 of 5 03/01/2017

2 COURT RESERVATIONS All Members and their guests must register in the Tennis Pro Shop before beginning play. Court reservations may be made starting at 8:00 a.m. every day and may be made up to two days in advance. Court reservations are for one and half-hours. Peak times are from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon seven days per week. During the peak hours on one court can be reserved per membership. The reservation during peak hours must be during the block times which are from 9:00-10:30 a.m. or 10:30-12:00 noon. No block times are used during non-peak hours. During non-peak hours members may reserve two courts. All members must check-in at the Tennis Pro Shop providing the name of all members and guests. If you have made a court reservation and will not be able to play, please call the Tennis Pro Shop to cancel the reservation as soon as possible. GUEST FEES Guests are welcome and must be accompanied by a Member and registered in the Tennis Shop prior to play. Members are responsible for the conduct of their Guests. Guest fees are $10.00 per guest prior to beginning play. Guests are limited to one (1) visit per month and a total of 6 (six) visits per year. If Members do not register Guest prior to play, the guest fee will increase to $20 Contact the Director of Tennis for house guest policy for out of town family/guests. DRESS CODE Proper tennis attire is to be worn. Tennis shoes and shirts are necessary at all times; no dark soled shoes or jogging shoes are allowed on the court. Cut-offs and tank tops for men are not acceptable. TENNIS LESSON PROGRAMS Private Lessons The professional staff offers a variety of lesson packages for beginner to championship level players. Lesson rates vary depending upon the professional s experience. Private lessons may be scheduled at a time that is convenient to you and may be booked on the half-hour for up to two hours. Cancellations must be 24 hours in advance. Group Lessons and Team Workouts Group lessons, classes, and team workouts are scheduled throughout the year. If you are interested in forming a group lesson or scheduling a team workout, please contact the Tennis Shop for more information. Junior Development Program Kingwood Country Club offers a comprehensive Junior Development Program designed to help kids who are at all levels from beginner to very advanced tournament players. Year round programs include the Little Tennis Classes and Junior Excellence. Below is a summary of each class within the Junior Development Program. 3 Tennis for Tots ages 3 1/2-5 years old. This program is great for physical and mental development and fun. 10 & Under Tennis is offered to 5-10 year old kids to help introduce them to tennis and develop tennis skills. We use a small net and racquet and a large, foam ball to make the tennis experience easy and fun to learn. Middle School, High School and Tournament Training is offered year round. Summer Camp is scheduled throughout the summer when kids have more time to focus on tennis and get more on-court training time. Players gain more experience and are quickly prepared for the summer tournaments in a fun environment. TENNIS SHOP Kingwood Country Club has a fully stocked Tennis Pro Shop with a variety of tennis racquets and accessories, tennis and fitness attire, tennis and workout shoes, and more. As a member of The Clubs of Kingwood, you get special Member Pricing on all merchandise except stringing. Member pricing is approximately 20% off the manufacturer s advertised price (MAP) and is another great benefit to you as a member of the club. We have demo racquets for our members to try out the latest models. We accept exchanges or returns for merchandise purchased within 30 days. GIFT CERTIFICATE The perfect gift for the person who is hard to buy for or someone who is a big tennis enthusiast is a gift certificate from the Tennis Shop. It may be used for merchandise as well as tennis lessons. BALL MACHINE There is a ball machine available for use on a reservation basis. You may book the ball machine at the same time you book your court reservation. The rental fee is $12/hour, $6/half hour. Take advantage of this great opportunity to sharpen your stroke production and cardiovascular system. The ball machine provides needed repetition when you are developing that perfect forehand, backhand, and volley. TENNIS OUTINGS If you are interested in holding a company tennis tournament or a charitable tennis event, don t forget your own Club. Your Club has many package rates available that include complete food and beverage service. Contact the tennis shop, at they will be happy to help with your format and any special requests. KCC TENNIS ASSOCIATION (KCCTA) The purpose of KCCTA shall be to enhance the Members enjoyment of social tennis by providing an active, year-round program consisting of tournaments, fun days, and other associated activities. 4 Membership in the KCCTA is open to all Clubs of Kingwood tennis Members and is required for participation in KCCTA sponsored events. The $30 annual dues help to subsidize food, beverages, and entertainment for the tennis and social events during the year. Details of upcoming events are ed to KCCTA members. HOUSTON LADIES TENNIS ASSOCIATION (HLTA) Houston Ladies Tennis Association (HLTA) is a competitive interclub league in which the Club participates. The league consists of clubs and teams in and around the Houston area. There are more than 3,000 participants in the area covering over 1,000 square miles. Competitive play ranges from B4 to Open Championship levels and is a great way to meet people. The league can accommodate players who can play on a regular basis as well as substitutes who would like to play when they are available. To be a member of a team at Kingwood Country Club, you must be an active member with tennis privileges. UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION (USTA) The Clubs of Kingwood is located in the North Houston Division (NOHO) of the Texas Section of the U.S.T.A. During the year, many teams compete in leveled leagues of men s, women s and mixed double teams ranging from 3.0 to 4.5. There are also senior (over 50 years of age) leagues of men, women, and mixed doubles and super senior players (over 60). To be a member of a team at Kingwood Country Club, you must be an active member of KCC with tennis privileges. For more information on USTA rankings, teams, or competition, contact the North Houston (NOHO) league coordinators: TENNIS ETIQUETTE Tennis has official rules, and then it has the Code of Tennis, the unofficial rules of good tennis sportsmanship. Any player should take the time to know both. Before You Go on the Court o Always wear proper tennis shoes and follow appropriate dress codes. Use tennis courts only for tennis play. o Monitor children at all times. Only children playing tennis should be on the courts. o Do not enter a court during play, even if your reservation time has begun. Wait until a game has been completed and then enter the court. o Always close the gate when entering and leaving a court. On the Court o Show respect and courtesy to your partner and opponents. o Minimize loud and/or continuous conversations in between points and during changeovers and avoid use of profanity at all times. o The server is responsible for keeping score and calling it out. When there is a disagreement, you must return to the score where you all agree. Page 4 of 5 03/01/2017

5 o When the server faults a first serve, let the ball go by you or hit it gently into the net. o Play at the server s pace. Don t quick serve your opponent. Also, when receiving, get ready promptly. o Always respect the line calls of your opponent. When partners disagree about a call, the ball is considered in. o Do not retrieve your ball if it rolls or is hit into another occupied court. Wait until their point has been completed and politely ask for the return of your ball. If a ball from another court enters your court during play, call a let and retrieve the ball. Do not return the ball until the players on that court are between points. o Shake hands with your opponents after the completion of a match. o Pick up after yourself. Dispose of any garbage you have in trash containers. o If you have old tennis balls that you don t want anymore, give them to the junior program or pros in provided location. Off the Court o Talk quietly when standing near tennis courts that are in use. o Never walk behind a court when a point is still in play. Wait until a point is over and then cross as quickly as possible. o When observing, it is fine to applaud a point well made, but do not applaud when there is an error. Have Fun The entire objective of playing tennis, aside from being good aerobic exercise, is to have fun. You can follow these rules of etiquette and still have a good time on the courts the players on the adjacent courts will appreciate it. Page 5 of 5 03/01/2017
