Both matches start at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN3. BACK ON ESPN3: Ball State women s volleyball returns to ESPN3 with Ball State Sports Link producing both of this weekend s matches for the platform... Cory Stace (play-by-play) and Noah Reed (analyst), the SL Digital Radio talent for the program, will move over to call the action for both broadcasts... Ball State is 5-1 in ESPN3 matches this season, with all five wins coming at home... In home broadcasts, the Cardinals scored 3-2 wins over New Mexico (Aug. 29) and IPFW (Sept. 16), while sweeping Northern Illinois (Oct. 2), Miami (Oct. 23) and Toledo (Oct. 29)... The Cardinals lone ESPN3 loss came by a score of 3-1 at Central Michigan (Oct. 9)... HOME SWEET HOME: Ball State enters Friday s match versus Eastern Michigan with a 9-1 record in home matches this season, including a 5-1 mark in league play... The Cardinals ended a late October home stand with a 4-0 record, with all four wins coming via the sweep... In contrast, EMU is 3-8 in true road matches this season, while Central Michigan is 2-7.

Ball State also holds a to advantage in kills per set on its home court... On defense, the Cardinals are out-digging opponents to 13.47, and hold a 2.25 to 1.76 edge in blocks per set in Worthen Arena. FROM THE NEST: With a 9-1 record in home matches so far this season, Ball State enters the week with a (.775) alltime record in Worthen Arena... The Cardinals are 5-1 in league play at home this season, improving to (.812) all-time versus MAC teams in Worthen Arena. 20/20 DIGGING: In last Friday s loss at Western Michigan, senior libero Kati Vasalakis logged 28 digs, while senior outside attacker Alex Fuelling collected a career-high 25 digs to give the Cardinals a pair of players with 20-plus digs in the same match for the first time since the 2013 season... Catie Fredrich (25) and Kylee Baker (22) were the last Ball State players to accomplish the feat, in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) home victory over Eastern Michigan Nov. 11, MORE DIGGING NUMBERS FROM WMU: Ball State finished last Friday s match at Western Michigan with 90 team digs, its second-highest total of the season, trailing only the 94 in a five-set win over IPFW (Sept. 16)... Four players finished the match with double-digit digs, including freshman defensive specialist Lauren Schreiner who earned a career-best 15 digs on the night. REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS: Amanda Raker, who started her collegiate career as a women s basketball player at Butler ( & ), turned in the most impressive performance of her three-year volleyball career in the Oct. 29 win over Toledo, smashing nine kills on nine attempts for a perfect attack percentage With the effort, Raker became the first Ball State player in the rally scoring era (2001-present) to boast a perfect attack percentage in a match with a minimum of seven attempts... In fact, Raker is the only non-setter to boast a perfect attack percentage for the Cardinals in the rally scoring era with a minimum of five attempts Prior to Raker, setter Brittany McGinnis ( ) was the last Ball State player to log a perfect attack percentage with at least five attempts, going at Purdue (Aug. 28, 2009)... Setter Stacie Baldwin ( ) is the only other Ball State player to earn a perfect attack percentage in a match with at least five attempts, going versus Western Michigan (Nov. 16, 2002). MORE ON RAKER S BIG WEEKEND: Amanda Raker followed her record-setting effort versus Toledo with another outstanding performance in the Oct. 31 win over Buffalo, recording a.727 attack percentage with nine kills on 11 attempts with one attack error... She started the match with kills on her first five swings, giving her kills on 14 consecutive attempts before being dug midway thought the second set... However, the ball found its way back onto the Cardinals side of the court and Raker was able to finish the rally with her sixth kill of the match... RAKER VERSUS WMU: Amanda Raker added another strong performance at Western Michigan last Friday, smashing a careerbest 13 kills and hitting.355 ( )... BIG WEEKEND FOR KITCHEL: Mackenzie Kitchel was named the MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.00 kills and hitting.413 ( ) in Ball State s wins over Miami (Oct. 23) and Bowling Green (Oct. 24)... A first-time career MAC Player of the Week honoree, Kitchel dominated opposing defenses by smashing a match-high 12 kills against both the RedHawks and the Falcons... She also finished the match versus BGSU with a career-high.588 ( ) attack percentage... Kitchel s.413 attack percentage for the weekend was the best two-match average of her entire career, while she collected back-to-back double-digit kill totals for just the fourth time in a Cardinals uniform. ACE OF SPADES OR JACK OF ALL TRADES?: In addition to being one of the league s top setters, ranking fifth in the MAC in league-only matches with a 9.40 assists-per-set average, Jenna Spadafora enters the week ranked eighth among MAC players in league action with a.319 attack percentage... On the year, Spadafora has accumulated 144 kills which is the third-highest kill total for a six rotation setter (who has played exclusively at the setter position) in the country based on players listed as setters in the current NCAA statistical rankings... Only Sarah Bell of Southern Miss and Aubrey Marsellis of Austin Peay have more at 147 and 146, respectively. TRIPLING UP: In the Oct. 3 match versus Western Michigan, Jenna Spadafora registered 10 kills, 13 digs and 41 assists for her first career triple double Prior to the contest, the closest Spadafora had been to a triple double was one kill shy, earning nine kills, 13 digs and 42 assists in a 3-2 loss to Missouri State (Sept. 12, 2014)... 6 Head Coach Steve Shondell - Sixth Season / MAC 2010 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year 2014 Burris Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee 2007 American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Inductee 2005 Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee 1996 Indiana Volleyball Hall of Fame Inductee 1988 Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee National High School Coach of the Year (2007 & 2009) 10-Time Ball State Alumni Coach of the Year 10-Time Indiana High School Coach of the Year Steve Shondell is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Ball State women s volleyball program in Named to the post on April 13, 2010, Shondell signed a new three-year contract in January of 2013 which will keep him at the helm of the program through the 2015 season. A 2007 inductee to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his efforts in 34 seasons as the head girls varsity volleyball coach at the Burris Laboratory School, Shondell has guided the Cardinals to an (63-31 MAC) record as head coach. Shondell has also helped the program return to championship form as Ball State won the 2010 Mid-American Conference regular season title, earned an at-large bid into the 2011 NCAA Women s Volleyball Championship and captured a share of the 2013 MAC West Division title. During his first five seasons as head coach, Shondell has helped his student-athletes rank second in the league with 14 All-MAC First Team selections, with Ohio being the only league school with more at 15. In addition, his players have earned five All-MAC Second Team honors and three MAC All-Freshman Team accolades over the same time span. He helped then-senior libero Alyssa Rio earn Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) National Libero of the Year honors in 2010 after she ranked second in the nation with a 5.86 digs-per-set average. A four-time MAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree as a senior, Rio was also named the CVU.com National Player of the Week (Nov. 2). Prior to being named the head coach at Ball State, Shondell guided Burris Laboratory School (Muncie, Ind.) to an record over his 34-year career from A two-time National High School Coach of the Year (2007 & 2009), Shondell coached the Owls to 21 state championships, including 13 straight titles at the Indiana Class 2A level. In his final season with the program, he led Burris to a perfect 40-0 record and finished the season as the national runner-up.
