3 To develop team players of advanced skills and Club Philosophy to create an affordable, enjoyable, challenging experience for youth volleyball in the Superior area. This will be accomplished through the development of individual skills, athletic development and the instruction of volleyball strategies through structured practices and competitive play in organized tournaments. To Parents/Guardians and Athletes: Introduction Welcome to Club Superior Junior Olympic Volleyball (CSVB)! The 2016 Season marks our 12 h year of existence and we are excited to have your interest in playing! This is NOT an intramural or non-competitive exercise group. Juniors Volleyball is a competitive sports organization designed for the development of the young athlete through a multifaceted approach of practices, scrimmages, and competition within a team framework. Players learn a different aspect of the sport by learning to officiate at competitions. Juniors Volleyball is a positive, hard-working environment where girls learn about volleyball, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and responsibility. This Handbook is a Contract for Participation. It is developed to clarify Club Superior Volleyball player, coach, and team expectations. Please read the contract carefully. It is your responsibility to ask questions for clarification so that you understand the rules and policies completely. All players of the Club Superior Volleyball Program will be held accountable to these rules and policies. Selection to a team is contingent on agreeing to the terms of this contract.

5 Typically, 8-9 tournaments will be scheduled during the Tournaments season. Most tournaments are local (within 1 hour travel time) with 2 or more being out of town (2-3+ hours away). Teams will play, ref, and sit throughout the morning (pool play) and then move into playoffs based on the pool play finish. A tournament day can run from 7:00am-6:00pm. Uniforms Players will receive a team jersey. Jerseys must be worn at each tournament. Each player must purchase her own black spandex shorts, court shoes, and knee pads. Coaches may require specific matching socks for team uniformity. Please pick up these items as soon as you can, some are difficult to find in the spring. A whistle is required for tournaments. Sharing whistles with team-members is discouraged. Selection Process A two-day tryout is scheduled. Dates/Times available on An $80.00 Try Out fee is required and payable prior to tryouts (Try Out fee to Badger Region plus Deposit to CSVB). Pre-registration is available online at U12 Day 1 of tryouts will include a skills clinic to help prepare young players and Day 2 is scrimmages and team format drills. U14, U16 & U18 Players will have two days to show skills and attitudes through drills and game play. All players will be ranked by a group of Evaluators. If participants cannot attend both tryout sessions, they will be ranked on performance during attendance. During the first month of practices, evaluations may continue and players may be moved to other teams based on skill, ability, position, and attitude. Age caps will be observed although younger players with advanced skill may be put on a higher team. There is a possibility that players may be switched from team to team throughout the season. Tryout Fee: $90.00 (non-refundable $10 to Badger plus $80 to CSVB) Due Fees before Try Outs. $10 Try Out fee to Badger Region and $70 to CSVB. If a player is cut from the program, $70 will be returned to the player. $20 is nonrefundable. Balance of team fee is due on January 1, Club Fee: $325 total cost per child. $50 discount for additional child in same family. Fees due, in full, January 1, 2016, no exceptions. Fees include uniform, gym time, tournament entry costs, equipment costs, Badger Region Volleyball sanctioning, Coaches salaries, Equipment, overhead/copies, and other expenses.

6 Code of Ethics Conduct Intent: To promote lawful and ethical behavior by all players, coaches, and parents This policy applies to all players and parents of CSVB. This policy also applies to Coaches and Board Members where applicable. CSVB is committed to conducting its business ethically and with integrity. The ethical conduct of the Club depends on the collective conduct of its players, parents, Director(s), and Board Members. The Club has adopted principles in the following areas to guide players, parents, Director(s), and Board Members on behaving with respect, honesty, and decency towards everyone affected by the Club: Ensure equal opportunity to all players without regard to gender, race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, or sexual orientation. Show courtesy to all visiting teams, competitors, hosts, fans, and officials. Emphasize the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, integrity, accountability, and fair play. Respect the integrity and judgment of the officials. Each player/parent has a responsibility not only to do the right thing but also to avoid behavior that could be perceived as failing to do the right thing. Represent the Club with dignity. Strive for continuous improvement and maximize efficiency in play. Work with others to achieve a common goal. Conduct Promoting good sportsmanship by way of example is required at all times. Players must not use foul language at practice, games, tournaments, or any other time while representing the Club. Exemplary behavior is mandatory at all times, in community, and at all functions where you are recognized as a representative of Club Superior Volleyball. CSVB Board of Directors, with the assistance of the coach if necessary, has the final decision in any discipline situation. Each situation will be handled in a case-by-case manner. Discipline will be fair and equal. Parent will be notified of all disciplinary action. Breaking of any federal, state, city, or local school district law may result in dismissal from Club Superior.

7 Expectations Of Parents/ Guardians Transportation of your child to and from tournaments and practices is the parent s/guardian s responsibility. Coaches are not allowed to provide transportation to any of his/her athletes. Parents/guardians will be expected to assist with home tournaments as needed. Court set up, take down, concessions, and gate collections will be coordinated. CSVB will make every effort to make sure parents are not working during the games their children are playing. Parents/Guardians must complete all electronic signatures through the Badger Region as well as other official USA Volleyball forms. This process is done online when registering the players with the Badger Region. Parents/ guardians are expected to pay Club fees by the stated deadlines. Parents/guardians are fully bound by the terms and conditions of this handbook/contract. Parents/Guardians have an opportunity to become actively involved in club operations by volunteering to become a team rep. The duties include: Assisting with communications between coach, players and other parents/guardians. Communicating team needs to the appropriate board member. Organizing team participation in concession stand when home tournaments occur Team Reps Selection to a CSVB team does not guarantee Team Playing Time play time at tournaments. The amount of playing time for each individual is based upon many factors including, but not limited to: skill, attitude, sportsmanship, position needs and attendance at practice. Final determination of playing is solely the decision of the coach(s). Practice Practices begin in January and will continue throughout the season. Practice will be held 1-3 days a week prior to tournaments. Players must arrive to practice or training at least 15 minutes prior to the start time. This allows for getting shoes on, knee pads, stretching, etc. No jewelry is allowed to be worn during practices or games. Cell phones should be turned off during the entire time of practice and remain in the players bag or jacket. Once the practice schedules are set, they will be posted on the website: The practice times may vary monthly, based on availability of facilities and other factors. It is the player and parents responsibility to check the website for updates. Players may only practice with their team unless otherwise decided by the director. Parents are encouraged to come to practice only at the final 15 minutes of the scheduled court time or in case of injury / emergency with the child.

8 One person s absent affects the entire team. It is important to Absences make every effort you can to attend all practices. Failure to notify the coach of any excusable absence less than one week prior to a tournament may result in the individual not playing during the first game of the next tournament. Absence for a school related activity or school related sport will be considered excused; however, those absences must still be communicated to the coach. Players are expected to uphold the Code of Ethics and Conduct at all practices and events. Disciplinary action will be taken as a result of inappropriate behavior. When a player has received two discipline warnings from a Club Coach or Official, she and her parent(s)/guardian(s) will be required to meet with the head coach and Director(s) or Parent/Player Liason. Depending on the results of the meeting, the player may be placed on probation or suspension. o Goals will be set for Probation/Suspension. o If any additional warnings are given during the probation period, the player will be dismissed from the club and club fees will be forefeited. The following violations will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the club: o Underage alcohol consumption o Recreational drug use o Use of tobacco products o Suspension from school o Inappropriate actions towards another player that may be harmful Players dismissed from Club Superior Volleyball will forfeit Final decision on dismissal will be determined by the Club Director and Board. Discipline Policy Players Responsibility Skill, Determination and Attitude make a great player. All players are expected to help with setup and take down of court equipment at practice. Arrive at practice early and you will be on time! Arrive at practice on time and you will be late. All players are expected to participate in officiating at games including score keeping, line judging, and refereeing. Each player will attend an officiating and score keeping clinic offered before the start of the season. Tournaments require players to officiate; sometimes immediately after the last game for your team. All players will stay until the whole team is finished for the day. If players are not going to attend a practice or will be late to practice, it is their responsibility to contact the coach prior to practice. If a player must miss a tournament, a one week notice (or as soon as possible) notice is required to the coach with a confirmation reply from him/her. All Players must read and sign the Players Code of Conduct.

9 All Players are expected to participate in fund raising efforts when possible. If a home tournament is held, all players and parents are expected to support the tournaments fundraising efforts by volunteering to work set up, concessions, gate collections, clean up, or other duties needed the event. All players are expected to stay at the tournaments until their team is finished. Any concerns a player or parent has will be first discussed between the player and their coach. The player is expected to arrange a time agreed upon with the coach. If the coach is unable to resolve the concern then the coach will discuss with the Coaching Director. The Coaching Director will either resolve the concern or determine what happens next.
