Box Lincoln, NE For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Huskers Seek NCAA Berth at Southeast Regional Nebraska Head Coach: Dan Kendig (16th Year) Current Team Record: 13-5 (4-0 Big 12) 2009 High Score: (at Arizona State with Cal State Fullerton and Ball State, 3/13/09) 2008 NCAA Finish: DNQ The No. 13 Nebraska women s gymnastics team travels to the NCAA Southeast Regional in Raleigh, N.C., Saturday, April 4. Competition begins at 5 p.m. (CST) at North Carolina State University s Reynolds Coliseum. The Huskers face No. 1 Georgia, No. 12 Penn State, No. 21 West Virginia, NC State and North Carolina. Live stats and video will be available via a link on Huskers.com. The competition also includes five all-around competitors and one individual event specialist per event. The top two teams and top two all-around competitors who are not part of an advancing team will receive an automatic berth to the 2009 NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, April NU is 13-5 on the year after a second-place showing at the Big 12 Championships two weeks ago, when senior Brittney Williams won the first Big 12 bars title of her career with a Junior Kylie Stone and freshman Lora Evenstad were named Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, respectively. The duo, along with freshman Kassandra Nathe, were also named to the All-Big 12 Championship team for their performances. Williams, senior Tricia Woo, sophomore Erin Davis and Stone were collectively named to the All-Big 12 team a week earlier. Following this weekend s regional championships, the announcement of the NCAA Championships field will occur on Monday, April 6. Rotation Order Announced at the NCAA Southeast Regional The NCAA announced last week the draw of rotation orders for each of the six-team regionals, including the Southeast, on Saturday. As the No. 3 seed, Nebraska will begin on floor, North Carolina State starts on vault, Penn State leads off on bars and North Carolina opens on beam. Georgia and West Virginia both begin with byes. Reynolds Coliseum 5 p.m. (CST) A Glance at the Bulldogs... Georgia s top gymnast is 10-time All-American junior Courtney Kupets. Kupets won the all-around crown at the SEC Championships, in addition to winning the bars title and sharing the vault, beam and floor crowns. She has won 47 of 60 possible individual crowns in 2009 and was named the 2009 SEC Gymnast of the Year. Georgia is ranked No. 1 in the national team standings. The Bulldogs are also fourth on vault and first on bars, beam and floor. Georgia has won titles at 20 NCAA Regionals under the direction of Coach Suzanne Yoculan. NU last met the Bulldogs at the 2007 Super Six Finals, where Georgia won the national championship (197.85) as Nebraska

Penn State s top competitor is Big Ten Gymnast-of-the-Year Brandi Personett. The junior took the Big Ten floor crown at the conference championships and came in second in the all-around. She was also honored as an All-Big Ten selection. Freshman Whitney Bencsko was also awarded All-Big Ten honors, earning a spot on the second-team. The Nittany Lions sit at the No.12 spot in national team rankings. PSU is also 12th on vault and bars, 18th on beam and 20th on floor. The Huskers last saw Penn State on Jan. 30 at the Devaney Center for the first home meet of the 2009 season. Additionally, she walked away from the championships with three event crowns, earning top spots in the all-around, bars and floor. Freshman Tina Maloney and junior Chelsi Tabor tied for the vault crown at the EAGL championships. Junior Shelly Purkat earned the first league title of her career, as she posted a for the beam crown. NC State was led by junior Lauren Deuser and sophomore Brittany Vontz at the EAGL Championships, as they tied for first on bars. Freshman Brooke Barr was a first-team EAGL all-tournament selection. She currently ranks 21st on vault nationally. The Wolfpack hold the No. 16 spot in national vault rankings. Nebraska hosted NC State at the Masters Classic on Feb. 22. Nebraska took first ( ) and NC State came in fourth (194.55). NU leads the all-time series with the Wolfpack 9-0. North Carolina is led by junior Christine Nguyen. The 2009 EAGL Gymnast of the Year was first-team All-EAGL on beam, floor and in the all-around. Sophomore Krista Jasper took second on floor at the EAGL Championships, and junior Kara Wright earned a second-place spot in the all-around. Jasper earned conference first-team honors on floor and Wright garnered first-team accolades on vault. In addition, Kristina Jacob earned first-team beam honors. The Huskers last faced North Carolina at the 2008 NCAA Southeast Regional. NU posted a mark of for third, while North Carolina came in sixth with a score of NU leads the all-time series with the Tar Heels 3-0. Woo Leads Huskers into 2009 Season Senior Tricia Woo leads Nebraska in 2009 after earning three All-America awards in her first three seasons at NU. The Milpitas, Calif., native claimed the 2008 beam and floor crowns at the NCAA Southeast Regional. She also captured the 2008 Big 12 beam title. Woo was Nebraska s final individual to qualify for the NCAA Championships and competed as a floor and beam specialist. She placed ninth (9.825) on beam and 10th (9.85) on floor in the preliminary session of the meet. In a junior season that saw Woo earn an all-conference nod on beam, she was honored as a Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week twice in Woo opened her senior season by tying Jessica Lopez for the beam crown at Denver. She scored a 9.90 on the event and entered the second week of competition ranked No. 1 nationally on beam. She has tallied a total of five beam crowns and posted a career-high score of 9.95 as NU went on to upset No. 7 Oklahoma on Feb. 8. She has also garnered two floor titles, tying her career high on floor, with a mark of against Oklahoma. Against then-no. 1 Utah, she took the floor crown, with a score of 9.90, and she posted a career-high on vault at the Masters Classic. In the final regular-season home meet of her Husker career, she took the beam title with a career-high-tying score of She also tied for second on floor with a Woo ranks third on beam nationally and 13th on floor. She has been named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week three times this season, most recently on Feb. 24. In her last regular-season meet at UCLA, Woo took the beam crown with a career-high-tying score of She was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week on March 18 for her efforts at UNO s Classic and UCLA. Woo earned All-Big 12 Honors on beam and floor, and was named first-team academic All-Big 12. Williams Headlines Nebraska s Bars Lineup, Earns First Conference Crown After redshirting in 2008 due to an Achilles tear suffered in preseason training, senior Brittney Williams has returned as a strong force on bars for the Huskers. Williams proved to be one of NU s most dependable contributors in 2007, earning All-Big 12 honors on bars at the Big 12 Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Williams helped Nebraska to its ninth Super Six Finals appearance and a sixth-place finish for the Huskers. Despite tweaking her ankle in warm-ups at Iowa State, Williams turned in an inspiring performance on bars to place third with a and helped the Huskers top the Cyclones. She claimed the first event title of her senior season, tying for first on bars (9.875) with Kylie Stone at Missouri. On Feb. 28, Williams tied for second on bars with a career-high-tying mark of for the second time this season. She had a stellar weekend on the road at Arizona State and UCLA, capturing both bars crowns with a at ASU and a career-high-tying 9.90 at UCLA. Williams garnered her second All-Big 12 accolades on bars, and she capped her Big 12 career with her first conference crown on bars. She hit a 9.85 to receive the accolades. Huskers to Host 2009 NCAA Championships Nebraska, which last played host to the NCAA Championships in 2003, will prepare to hold the 2009 NCAA Championships at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in April. All-session tickets can be purchased at Huskers. com or by calling 800-8BIGRED. The Huskers have reached the NCAA Championships nine of the last 10 years. Kendig Builds One of Nation s Top Programs at Nebraska Head Coach Dan Kendig is the all-time winningest coach in the 32 years of Nebraska women's gymnastics history. In 15 seasons at Nebraska, Kendig is overall and in regular-season meets. Kendig is in his 26th year of coaching and owns a career record of A eight-time Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year, Kendig has guided the Huskers to nine conference championships and three straight regional championships from 2000 to He was most recently named Big 12 Coach of the Year at the Championships in Ames on March 21. He has also led Nebraska to 11 NCAA Championship appearances in the past 14 seasons, including NCAA Super Six Finals appearances in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and Kendig was honored as the NCAA Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2003, a year in which the Huskers finished fourth nationally. Under Kendig's guidance in 2008, Nebraska finished with a 13-9 overall record. The Huskers placed third at the NCAA Southeast Regional in their 25th straight NCAA postseason appearance. Two of Kendig s gymnasts -- Emily Parsons (BB, AA) and Desire Sniatynski (UB) -- earned a total of three All-America honors. Additionally, Tricia Woo captured her first Big 12 title on beam at the competition in Norman. Kendig is assisted by associate head coach Danna Durante, who is in her seventh season with Nebraska, and assistant coach Tim Garrison, who is in his third year on the Husker staff. All-American Stone leads Juniors Junior Kylie Stone returned to the Husker lineup after missing last season due to an injury suffered in preseason training. Stone leads Nebraska s all-around rotation and is a strong candidate for conference and national honors as a junior. A native of Calgary, Alberta, she earned second-team All-America honors on vault in Stone also grabbed All-Big 12 accolades on vault in her sophomore season. Before beginning her career at Nebraska, she competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, and finished 14th in the all-around at the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim, Calif., making her the highest finishing Canadian female all-arounder in World Championships history. Stone started the 2009 season by winning the all-around at Denver (38.975) and tying for first on floor (9.825) with Denver s Amanda Johanson. She took the all-around crown for the second-straight week at Iowa State, scoring a She also took every event title except bars in Ames, leading the Huskers to the win. Stone was named Big 12 Co-Gymnast of the Week, sharing the award with Missouri s Sarah Shire. In a competition where she squared-off with Shire at Missouri, Stone performed big again, tying for first in the all-around (39.35) and bars (9.875). At the first home meet of the season against Penn State, Stone tied her career-high mark on floor with a score of She took the floor and the bars crowns (9.825). Stone was recognized by the conference for the third-straight week, being named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for her efforts against Penn State. Stone was also named to the All-Big 12 Championship team for her efforts in the all-around and on floor. She was also named the 2009 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year at the Conference Championships. Kathryn Howard entered the 2009 season as a strong competitor on beam for the Huskers. An All-Big 12 performer on beam as a freshman, she won her first career event title on beam at Oklahoma in In 2009 Howard took third on beam at Denver, scoring a At Missouri, she placed fourth on beam, notching a Howard took second on beam, scoring a 9.80, against Penn State. Howard posted a season-high score of on bars against Oklahoma. She added a career-high 9.85 on bars against Iowa State on March 8 to tie with Stone for the event title. Howard was honored as a 2009 Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection for the second time in her career. Sophomores Gain Experience, Add Depth Nebraska s sophomore class includes key competitors Brittnee Habbib and Erin Davis. Both stepped up as specialists for the Huskers in 2008 and have been leading contributors in the Husker lineups. Habbib emerged as a three-event competitor in her inaugural season, consistently contributing on bars, beam and floor, as well as vault earlier in the season. At the conference level, she took the No. 10 spot in the Big 12 beam standings, as well as ranking 14th on bars. This season, Habbib posted a strong performance at Iowa State for Nebraska, taking second on floor with a career-high In Columbia, Mo., she took fifth on bars, with a and on beam (9.80). In the dual with Penn State, Habbib took second on bars with a Against the Utes on Feb. 13, she took second on bars with a season-high 9.85, and tied her season-high score of 9.85 on bars against Michigan, as she took second in the event with Brittney Williams. At UNO s Classic, Habbib notched a career high on floor (9.875). Davis provided experience to Nebraska s vault and floor lineups in her second year with the Huskers. She stepped into the No. 2 spot in the floor lineup in 2008 and hit a career-best 9.80 on three occasions. At the Big 12 Championships, Davis placed 10th on vault. She started her second year with Nebraska by placing first on vault (9.825) at Denver and taking second at Iowa State (9.80). Davis scored a 9.80 and took third on vault in the Huskers win over the Nittany Lions. She notched a career-high 9.80 on floor against Utah. 7 Weekly Notes - April 1, 2009 Page 6 A Look at Nebraska s 10.0 Club The last perfect 10.0 scored by a Husker was at the Heart s Invitational on Feb. 17, 2007 by former-husker Emily Parsons. Before Parsons vault in 2007, the last Husker to score a 10.0 was Richelle Simpson, who was awarded a 10.0 on floor at the Arkansas Quadrangular on March 19, Simpson achieved eight flawless routines in her Husker career from 2002 to Eight gymnasts have combined for 18 perfect scores in the last seven years. Ten of the 10.0 marks have been tallied at home at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, while eight were scored on the road. Freshman Kassandra Nathe has proved herself as one of two strong all-arounders for Nebraska in to make an impact after redshirting in her first year due to preseason forearm surgery. Evenstad, the 2008 Junior Olympic All-Around Champion, brings NU valuable experience. The Grand Forks, N.D., native and product of Red River Valley Gymnastics also placed third on vault and floor at the 2008 J.O. Championships. In addition, she tied for eighth on bars and beam at the competition. Evenstad opened her Husker career by placing fifth on both vault (9.80) and bars (9.75) at Denver and second on floor (9.825) at Iowa State. She kicked-off her debut in the Devaney Center with a strong 9.90 on floor and a third-place finish as the Huskers defeated Penn State. On Feb. 8, Evenstad hit a season-high score of on bars to tie for fourth. She tied for second on floor with a against Utah and notched a season-high on vault at the Masters Classic. She also took second on floor (9.875) at the four-team competition. At Michigan, Evenstad tied for second on vault, hitting a Evenstad shined in the Huskers meet against Iowa State on March 8, taking the event crowns on vault (9.875) and floor (9.925) and posting a season-high 9.80 on bars. She was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week on March 10 for her efforts against the Cyclones. She took second on bars (9.85) and floor (9.90) at Arizona State, and hit a season-high on bars at UCLA. Evenstad took second on floor (9.90) at the Big 12 Championships and was named to the All-Big 12 Championship team for her efforts at the meet. She was also honored as the 2009 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Fyffe is a level 10 product of Queen City Gymnastics in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 2006 Ohio J.O. state vault champion placed sixth on beam and eighth in the all-around at Nationals that same year. She was a four-time national qualifier from 2003 to Fyffe proved herself as a strong competitor for NU, notching a fifth-place finish on vault (9.725) at Iowa State. With more experience under her belt, She tied for fifth on beam (9.80) at Missouri. Fyffe posted a season-high vault score of 9.80 against OU. She tied her career-high mark of 9.80 on beam at the Masters Classic on Feb. 22. At Arizona State s UNO s Classic, Fyffe posted a season-high on vault. A native of Sartell, Minn., Nathe is a level 10 product and the 2007 Region IV all-around and beam champion. She is a four-time National Championships qualifier from 2005 to At the 2008 J.O. National Championships, she tied for 13th on floor and 15th in the all-around. She took the Region IV beam crown in Nathe debuted strong for NU, capturing her second-straight secondplace finish in the all-around at Iowa State (39.00). She also took third on bars (9.825) and beam (9.80) in Ames. In her first collegiate meet in Lincoln, Nathe took fourth on beam (9.70) and fifth on floor with a season-high mark of against Penn State. Against the Sooners, Nathe received a season-high mark of 9.80 on vault and a in the all-around. Against Utah, she hit season-highs in four events, with a 9.85 on vault, 9.80 on beam, on floor and in the all-around. She tied her season-high on floor the following week at the Masters Classic. Nathe also tied season-highs on vault and bars against Iowa State on March 8. 8 Weekly Notes - April 1, 2009 Page 7 All-Arounders Prove Strong for Nebraska Junior Kylie Stone and freshman Kassandra Nathe starred for the Huskers at Denver and Iowa State, capturing the top two spots in the all-around for two weeks in a row. Both hit the 39-mark in the all-around, with Stone scoring a 39.35, and Nathe receiving a at ISU. Stone also won every event title except for bars at Iowa State. The dominance continued at Missouri when Stone tied for first in the all-around (39.35) and on bars (9.875). Stone and Nathe took second and third in the all-around against Penn State, posting scores of and , respectively. Stone received a career-high all-around score of at the Masters Classic to take top honors. Stone won the all-around at Arizona State, tying her career-high of Nathe then came in third in the all-around at UCLA (39.10). Stone took third in the all-around (39.30) at the Big 12 Championships. Huskers Tally Big 12 Awards Tricia Woo garnered her fourth Big 12 Event-Specialist-of-the-Week honor on March 18. Woo helped the Huskers in a two-meet weekend with a dual at No. 7 UCLA and a quadrangular at Arizona State. The senior All-American took first on beam (9.925) against the Bruins, as well as second on vault (9.90) and floor (9.925). In Tempe, Woo was runner-up on vault with a score of 9.90 and also finished fourth on beam and floor with a pair of marks. Lora Evenstad earned the first conference awards of her career on March 10, as she was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week for her performance in the Huskers dual with Iowa State on March 8. Evenstad won vault (9.875) and floor (9.925) in Nebraska s victory. The freshman produced career highs on all three of her events, also posting a 9.80 to finish sixth on bars. On Feb. 25, Nebraska swept the weekly Big 12 Awards for the second time this season, as Stone was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week, and Woo was honored as Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week. Stone won two individual titles, including her fourth all-around crown, to lead No. 12 Nebraska to a win over No. 3 UCLA at the Masters Classic. Woo captured her fifth beam title of the season with a mark of 9.85 in NU s win at the Masters Classic. The three-time All-American also tallied a career-best 9.95 on vault to tie for second. The award was the fifth of both gymnasts careers. Before that, NU swept the weekly awards on Jan. 26, with Stone being named Gymnast of the Week and Woo taking Event-Specialist-of-the-Week honors. Stone received the honors after winning the all-around title for the third consecutive week. She also achieved season-bests on bars and floor at Missouri. Woo was honored after posting a 9.90 on beam and taking the event title at Missouri. Stone was honored for the third-straight week by the conference, being named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 3. Against Penn State, she took the bars (9.825) and floor (9.925) titles, tying her career best on floor. She also placed second in the all-around (39.275) and matched her season high on vault (9.85) for runner-up honors. Previously, Stone had earned Big 12 Co-Gymnast of the Week in the conference awards on Jan. 20. She shared the award with Missouri s Sarah Shire after winning her second all-around title at Iowa State and earning a career-high tying mark on beam. Nebraska tallied more Big 12 Awards as the regular season drew to a close. Woo and Howard earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors and Stone was named second-team academic All-Big 12. The Huskers saw four gymnasts earn five All-Big 12 awards, with Stone receiving a spot on vault and floor and Woo earning honors on beam and floor. Nebraska placed three competitors on the 2009 All-Big 12 Championship team, as Stone earned a spot in the all-around and floor, Evenstad received accolades for floor and Nathe garnered the award for vault. At the Big 12 Championships the Huskers swept the annual postseason awards, as Stone was named the 2009 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, Evenstad earned 2009 Newcomer-of-the-Year honors and Dan Kendig was named the 2009 Coach of the Year. Junior Kathryn Howard earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the second time in 2009.

She stepped into the No. 2 spot in the floor lineup as a freshman in 2008 and placed 10th on vault at the 2008 Big 12 Championships. She started her second year with NU by winning her first event crown, taking first on vault at Denver (9.825). She has tallied career highs on vault (9.875) and floor (9.825) and won her second vault crown of the season at Michigan. At the completion of the regular season Davis was honored as an All-Big 12 selection on vault. Sacred Heard/Red River Valley Gymnastics 2009 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year All-Big 12 Championship Team (2009: FX) Big 12 Commissioner s 2008 Fall Honor Roll Level 10 Gymnast 2008 Junior Olympic National All-Around Champion 2006 Region IV Champion Freshman Lora Evenstad kicked-off her debut in the Devaney Center with a strong 9.90 on floor and a third- place finish as the Huskers defeated Penn State. She shined in the Huskers meet against Iowa State on March 8, taking event crowns on vault (9.875) and floor (9.925) and posting a season-high 9.80 on bars. Evenstad was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week on March 10 for her efforts against the Cyclones. At the Huskers final regular-season meet at UCLA, she hit a season-high At the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa, Evenstad was named the 2009 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Championship team after finishing second on floor (9.90). She debuted in the national rankings for the first time all season on March 23, and now holds the No. 18 spot on floor. Before coming to Nebraska, Evenstad competed for Coach James Bayer at Red River Valley Gymnastics Club in Grand Forks, N.D. A level 10 gymnast, she swept every individual title at the North Dakota State Championships for four straight years from 2003 to 2006, and took first in the all-around, vault and bars at the 2006 Junior Olympic Region IV Championships. At Nationals in 2005, Evenstad finished third on floor, then placed sixth on bars and ninth in the all-around at the same meet in At the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships she claimed the all-around title. 15 Kristin Fyffe Freshman 5-4 V/BB Cincinnati, Ohio Anderson/Queen City Gymnastics Big 12 Commissioner s Fall 2008 Honor Roll Level 10 Gymnast Freshman Kristin Fyffe has proven herself as a strong competitor for NU on vault and beam, posting a seasonhigh vault score of 9.80 against Oklahoma. She tied her career-high mark of 9.80 on beam at the Masters Classic on Feb. 22. She has continually improved over the course of the season, most recently hitting a season-high on vault at Arizona State s UNO s Classic on March 13. Before coming to Nebraaska, Fyffe competed for Coach Trevor O Hera at Queen City Gymnastics in Cincinnati. She was out of competition for the 2008 season as a result of three knee surgeries. At Nationals in 2006, she placed sixth on beam, eighth in the all-around and 12th on vault. Previously, she had claimed the 2006 Ohio J.O. state vault championship. During the 2005 competitive year, Fyffe grabbed first-place finishes in the all-around, vault and bars at the Ohio State Championships and went on to earn runner-up honors on vault at Nationals. In 2004, she competed as a Level 10 and a junior international elite, making appearances at the U.S. Classic, the American Challenge and the U.S. Coaches Cup. Fyffe also qualified for the J.O. National Team and took third in the all-around. This season, Habbib posted a strong performance for Nebraska at Iowa State, taking second on floor with a She tied her season-high score of 9.85 on bars against Michigan, as she took second in the event. At UNO s Classic, Habbib notched a career-high on floor. A senior high-performance gymnast, Habbib was a five-year member of the Canadian National Team with current Husker Kylie Stone. Habbib was coached by former Olympic gold medalist Yelena Davydova and Ukrainian men's all-around champion Valery Yahchybekov at Gemini Gymnastics. Habbib, who represented Canada at the 2006 World Championships, tied for fifth in the allaround and eighth on beam at the 2006 Canadian National Championships. She also helped the Canadian team to a third-place finish at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and notched a 15th-place all-around showing at the 2005 Pan Am Games. Woodward Gymnastics Big 12 Commissioner s Fall 2008 Honor Roll Level 10 Gymnast Freshman Kailey Ryan is a level 10 gymnast and two-time bar state champion in Noarth Carolina Level 9 and Level 10. She also earned bronze in the AA state competition. She entered the season looking to vie for time as a reserve competitor in Nebraska s lineups. Ryan has trained under coaches Anna and Alan Hatch at Woodward Gymnastics Club and also with Sergei Mouradkhanian at Weyandt s Gymnastics. Although she did not compete during the season because of injury, Ryan was a two-time bar state champion in North Carolina Level 9 and 10. She also earned the bronze in the AA State Competition and placed 16th at the Level 9 Eastern Nationals. Ryan was born March 6, 1991, in Bayshore, N.Y. and is the daughter of Colleen Ryan. Seich qualified as a senior elite to the 2005 U.S. Classic, but was unable to compete due to injury. She has progressed well over the season, competiting in exhibition on floor and beam. On the national elite stage, Scaffidi finished 11th in the all-around at the 2000 U.S. Championships. The following year, she placed 16th in the all-around, 10th on vault and sixth on bars at the 2001 U.S. Championships. Scaffidi also took fifth-place honors on floor at the 2001 U.S. Classic and posted finishes of 11th in the all-around, eighth on vault and 11th on bars at the same meet. As a Level 10 competitor, Scaffidi took home a third-place finish on floor at the 2004 Junior Olympics National Championships. In 2006, she finished fourth on floor, fifth on vault, sixth on bars and 10th in the all-around. Scaffidi was born April 6, 1988, in Sussex, Wis., and is the daughter of John and Sandra Scaffidi. She is a business major at Nebraska. Stingley competed for Coach Ron Nasti at GymNasti Gymnastics in Villa Park, Ill. Although she was unable to compete during the season due to injury, Stingley earned the 2006 Gateway Challenge Level 10 championship. She also earned the Level 9 J.O. National floor crown in Stingley was born on July 29, 1990, in Chicago, Ill., and is the daughter of Mark and Mary- Christine Stingley. Claire has a sister, Marina. A 2008 graduate of Willowbrook High School, Claire carried a 4.8 grade-point-average and scored a 35 on her ACT. She was a member of the National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, Civitas Social Studies Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, the Distinction Honor Roll and Science National Honor Society. Stone started the 2009 season by winning the all-around at Denver and tying for first on floor. She took the all-around crown for the second-straight week at Iowa State, as well as taking every event title except bars, leading the Huskers to the win. She has tallied 18 wins so far this season, including five in the all-around, one on vault, four on bars, one on beam and seven on floor. Most recently, Stone took first on floor (9.925) and in the all-around (39.475) at Arizona State, tying career highs in both events. Widely considered one of the top gymnasts in Canada, Stone competed at the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim, Calif., helping her country s team qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games and making history as an individual competitor by becoming the highest-ranking Canadian all-around finisher in the history of the World Championships. Her Ricochets team captured the 1998 Pennsylvania state championship and took second-place finishes at state in 2001 and Williams was crowned the 2001 Junior Olympic National floor exercise champion while also finishing third in the all-around. In qualifying to the 2001 national meet, Williams finished first in the all-around at the J.O. Region 7 Championships. At the 2003 J.O. Nationals, Williams earned seventh place in the all-around. Williams was born Aug. 9, 1986, in Doylestown, Pa., and is the daughter of Kenneth and Lydia Williams. She has one sister, Brandie. She scored a 9.90 on the event and entered the second week of competition ranked No. 1 nationally on beam. She posted a career-high score of 9.95 on beam, as NU went on to upset then-no. 7 Oklahoma on Feb. 8. She also tallied a career-high on floor against the Sooners. She posted a career-high on vault at the Masters Classic. She has totaled new career highs on vault, beam and floor in 2009, posting a 9.95 two times on beam and a two times on floor. In her last regular-season meet, Woo took the beam crown at UCLA (9.925). At the conclusion of the regular season, she tallied All-Big 12 honors on beam and floor. She currently ranks third on beam and 14th on floor nationally. Woo competed for coaches Diane Amos, Tiina Vilenius and Abra Slater at West Valley Gymnastics. A four-time Junior Olympic National Championships qualifier, she had a solid showing at the 2004 Nationals, finishing 12th in the all-around, 10th on vault and 12th on floor. Woo, who placed fourth on vault at Nationals in 2003, was the California state vault and all-around champion that same year, while also finishing third on bars, fifth on beam and second on floor. She finished sixth on vault at Nationals in 2005 after earning the Region I beam title. Woo was also an accomplished swimmer and diver at Milpitas. Woo was born March 11, 1987, and is the daughter of Eric and Audrey Woo. She has one sister, Erin, and one brother, Fred. A 2005 graduate of Milpitas High School, Woo is a nutrition science major at Nebraska and served as the multicultural representative for NU s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
