SBC Tournament Miami, Fla. 11/17-11/19 ASU Tournament Record:27-14 MAKING HISTORY: Senior Cayla Fielder took over fifth-place on the all-time ASU kills list with 1,383 kills for her career. She entered the weekend tied for fifth with Caitlyn Mitchell who had 1,371. Robin Aaron is fourth on the list with 1,461 kills. If Fielder passes Aaron she would be the all-time ASU kills leader in the rally scoring era. Fielder is also eighth on the all-time ASU blocks list with 381 blocks. Jo Beth Mathis is seventh on the list with 421 blocks. She is also currently has a.397 attacking percentage this season, which ranks second on ASU s all-time single season attacking percentage list. For her career she has a.343 attacking percentage, which is third all-time. Junior setter Allison Kearney ranks eighth on the all-time ASU assists list with 1,992 assists in her career. DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Kearney recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 32 assists and 15 digs against Louisiana- Lafayette. RPI RANK: The NCAA recently released its RPI rankings for the season and Arkansas State ranked 106th on the list. WHERE THEY RANK: Cayla Fielder is first in the conference with a.397 attacking percentage, which also ranks 12th nationally. In conference matches Fielder has a.458 attacking percentage, which is also tops in the SBC. Allison Kearney is third in the conference with 0.40 aces per set. The average also ranks 46th nationaly. She is also averaging assists per set against conference teams, which leads the category. Megan Baska ranks fourth in the conference with 4.26 digs per set against con-

Ashley Tipps has a.319 attacking percentage against conference teams, good for seventh in the conference. Her overall percentage of.308 ranks eighth in the conference. As a team A-State leads the conference with an 1.54 aces per set average so far this season. That average also ranks 33rd nationally. The team also ranks 48th in team hitting percentage with a mark of.242 and 62nd in winning percentage with a.700 mark. ASU s Terry, Baska Sweep SBC Player of the Week Honors: JONESBORO, Ark. (11/14/11) Arkansas State s Jasmine Terry and Megan Baska were voted the Sun Belt Conference s Volleyball Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Red Wolves to a 2-0 record last week and their third consecutive SBC West Division Championship, the league announced Monday. The Red Wolves swept the final SBC volleyball player of the week honors for the second consecutive season. Baska and Cayla Fielder were named the defensive player of the week and player of the week, respectively, in the final week of the regular season in The award is Terry s first of her career, while Baska won the defensive player of the week for the fourth time this season and for the seventh time in her career. Terry put up 29 kills and a.521 attacking percentage in two matches to close out the regular season for A-State. She had 14 kills and a.500 attacking percentage in a sweep over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night and then added 15 kills in a sweep over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday. Baska finished the weekend with 38 digs and a 6.44 digs per set average in her two matches. Against ULL she had 20 digs and a 6.67 digs per set average and then added 18 digs against ULM on Sunday. Her overall 4.26 digs per set average ranks fourth in the conference. The Red Wolves will travel to Miami, Fla., for the SBC Championships this week. BASKA NAMED SBC DEFNESIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/31/11) Arkansas State sophomore Megan Baska was named the Sun Belt Conference s volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Monday after helping the Red Wolves go undefeated at home with victories over Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe. This marks the third time this year Baska has been named the league s Defensive Player of the Week and the sixth time in her career. Baska chalked up 37 digs on the weekend, putting up 20 against Louisiana- Lafayette Friday and 17 against Louisiana-Monroe Sunday. She finished the weekend with a 4.62 digs per set average and added eight assists. Her overall 4.21 digs per set average ranks fifth in the conference. The Red Wolves finished 8-0 at home this season, marking the first time the squad has gone undefeated at home since A-State will finish the regular season with four straight road games, beginning Nov. 4 with a match at North Texas followed by a match at Denver Nov. 6. FIELDER NAMED CVU.COM NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: A day after receiving the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week Award, Arkansas State senior Cayla Fielder was named the CVU.com National Player of the Week the website announced Oct. 4. Fielder is the first Arkansas State volleyball player to be named to the Collegiate Volleyball Update weekly honor. NEW HEIGHTS: Senior Cayla Fielder set a new career high with a.750 attacking percentage against Troy on Oct. 1. As a team ASU posted its second highest attacking percentage of the season with a.309 mark against Troy.

The mark also ranks second in the SBC all-time record books. In the same match, ASU entered into a tie for third in the conference s rallyscoring charts for aces in a match with 19. ASU S FIELDER NAMED SBC PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Following her performance in Arkansas State s victories over South Alabama and Troy Sept. 30-Oct. 1, A-State senior Cayla Fielder was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. This marks the third time in Fielder s career she has been named the league s Player of the Week. Fielder set a new career-high with a.750 attacking percentage against Troy. She also added 18 kills and averaged six kills per set in the 3-0 sweep over the Trojans. Against South Alabama she had 22 kills and a 5.50 kills per set average. ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS: Taylor Szupulski, Amanda Chaparro and Jasmine Terry were all named to the All-Tournament team at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at Northwestern State University. Szypulski was also named tournament MVP. Cayla Fielder, Jasmine Terry and Allison Kearney were all named to the All- Tournament team at the Lipcomb Invitational. Fielder was also named tournament MVP. BASKA EARNS SECOND SBC DEFEN- SIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS: Sophomore libero Megan Baska earned her second Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the week award this year after helping the Arkansas State volleyball team post a 4-0 record last week, including a 3-0 mark at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational that was hosted Northwestern State University. The Red Wolves (9-5) have won five straight matches, including a sweep over Southeast Missouri State in their home opener on Oct. 13. Baska totaled 55 digs on the week, including 18 against SEMO and 25 against Central Arkansas. She averaged 5.00 digs per set on the weekend and added four assists and five aces. The Overland Park, Kan., native now has 269 digs to her credit this season for an overall average of 4.98 per set, which ranks third in the conference. Baska has now been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week six times during her career at ASU. Arkansas State will open Sun Belt Conference play this weekend when the Red Wolves travel to Middle Tennessee on Sept. 23 and Western Kentucky on Sept. 24. BASKA EARNS SBC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS: The Sun Belt Conference announced that Arkansas State sophomore libero Megan Baska earned SBC Defensive Players of the Week honors for the week of Aug. 29 after setting a new career-high in digs at the Samford/UAB Invitational. Baska set a career-high with 40 digs against Alabama-Birmingham on Friday, missing the all-time ASU single match record by just five digs. She finished with 77 total digs and averaged 5.92 digs per set over the Red Wolves three matches. Her 12 digs against Akron led A-State to 3-0 victory over the Lady Zips, while she added 25 digs against Samford. BASKA MOVES INTO THIRD PLACE IN SBC RECORD BOOK: In just her second match of the season, Arkansas State s Megan Baska moved into the Sun Belt Conference rally-scoring era record books. Against UAB, the sophomore put up 40 digs in the five-set match to move into third place for total digs in a match. She finished with 77 digs in three matches, good for a 5.92 digs per set average Baska, Fielder Earn SBC Preseason Honors; Red Wolves Picked Second in Preseason Coaches Poll: In preparation for the start of the women s volleyball season, the Sun Belt Conference released its preseason awards, all-conference team and coaches poll Wednesday morning. Arkansas State sophomore Megan Baska was named the 2011 SBC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while ASU senior Cayla Fielder was selected to her third-straight preseason All-SBC team. The Red Wolves were picked to finish second in the West Division in the preseason coaches poll, as voted on by the league s 12 head coaches. Baska was named the SBC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 after an impressive freshman season. She was named SBC Player of the Week four times, selected as a Collegiate Volleyball Top Performer of the Week and named a Rising Star of the 2010 freshman class. She totaled 564 digs, ranking her seventh on the ASU single-season digs chart and led the league with a 5.08 digs per set average, which also ranked 37th nationally. The preseason honors awarded to both Megan and Cayla are great for our program and shows they are individually respected by other coaches in the league based on last year s performances, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We will certainly use this as momentum and look forward to competing in the upcoming matches this Friday and Saturday. Fielder's selection to the preseason All- SBC team marks the third of her career. She was named to the All-SBC Team following the 2009 and 2010 seasons and led the Red Wolves with 332 kills in 2010, leaving her just four shy of 1,000 for her career. Her 3.73 kills per set average was second best in the conference and she ranked third on the team with 48 total blocks. Fielder was named the 2008 Freshman of the Year and earned Second Team All-SBC honors that same season. The Red Wolves received 60 points in the poll with four first place votes, while North Texas topped the West Division with 65 points. Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky totaled 66 points each to lead the East Division. NEW FACES: The Red Wolves welcome three newcomers to the squad this season. Freshman A Zlynn Thompson joins the Red Wolves from Dodge City, Kansas, while freshman Marie Hadar comes from Humboldt, Iowa. Junior Amanda Chaparro joins the team from Baymon, Puerto Rico after spending the last two seasons with Western Carolina. Head Coach Justin Ingram: Justin Ingram enters his third year as head coach of the Red Wolves for the 2011 season, boasting back-to-back Sun Belt Conference West Division Co-Championships in his first two seasons at A-State. His overall record stands at (.629). Ingram became the sixth head coach in ASU Volleyball history in 2009, and his Red Wolves'.667 winning percentage that season was the highest ASU has seen since the 2004 season. He led A-State to a 12-6 (.667) conference record and a 10-1 (.909) record in home matches, also the highest percentage since Two of Ingram's 2009 Red Wolves garnished postseason conference honors including the SBC Defensive Player of the Year award, and ASU chalked up six SBC Player of the Week accolades that year. The 2010 season was just as successful for Ingram and the Red Wolves as they went (.586) and 11-5 (.687) in SBC action to once again capture a share of the West Division. Two players again collected post-season league awards, including the Defensive Player of the Year honor for the second consecutive year. His squad also collected five SBC Player of the Week awards during the season. Ingram came to ASU after serving eight years as an assistant coach at Kansas State. During his time at Kansas State, he served as the recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator for the Wildcats who posted a record and made seven NCAA tournament appearances during his time with the program. Ingram served the previous two years as an assistant coach at the University of Houston. He served as a junior college recruiting coordinator, travel coordinator and assistant director of camps. The Cougars posted a record and made back-toback NCAA tournament appearances and posted consecutive 20-win seasons in 1998 and The Cougars were the Conference USA National Division Runners-up in 1998 and C-USA National Division Champions in During his career, Ingram has helped lead teams to nine NCAA Tournament appearances including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in He has coached eight All- America selections, 22 All-Big 12 selections, 55 Academic All-Big 12 players, six All-Conference USA selections, four Big 12 Libero of the Year winners, a Big 12 Player of the Year, a Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and a C-USA Player of the Year. Ingram earned his bachelor's degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University in 1995 and a master's degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in LOOKING AHEAD TO 2011: Excitement is high entering the 2011 season for the Arkansas State volleyball team. Head Coach Justin Ingram led the Red Wolves to their second straight share of the Sun Belt Conference Western Conference Division championship last season and with just one player lost from last year s team ASU is poised to make another run at the title this season. Elevean players return from last year s squad that finished including senior Cayla Fielder. The former SBC Freshman of the Year finished the 2010 campaign with 332 kills, leaving her just four shy of 1,000 for her career. She was named SBC Player of the Week during the final week of regular season and helped the Red Wolves go 3-0 heading into the Sun Belt Conference tournament. Sophomore Megan Baska will return as the team s libero after turning one of the most impressive seasons for a libero in ASU history. Baska earned SBC Defensive Player of the Year honors, was named SBC Player of the Week four times and was selected as a Collegiate Volleyball Update Top Performer of the Week and Rising Star of the 2010 freshmen class. Baska also amassed 564 digs last season, putting her seventh all-time on the ASU single-season career digs list. Her 5.08 digs per set average ranked 37th nationally and she set a season high with 34 digs against Northwestern State. Engram enters his third season at ASU having collected a career record. He will be joined by assistant coach Shawn Taylor, who is entering his second year with the Red Wolves volleyball team. Jessica Hohl will serve as the graduate assistant coach and Dean Torgerson will be a volunteer assistant coach. ASU will open the 2011 season with three straight tournament appearances. The first will be Aug in Birmingham, Ala., to compete in a tournament hosted by Samford University. The Red Wolves will then travel to Nasvhille, Tenn., Sept. 2-3 to compete in a tournament hosted by Liscomb University. ASU will wrap up its three tournament swing by traveling to Springfield, Mo., to compete the Missouri State tournament Sept In all the Red

5 Wolves will have travled over 1,500 miles in three weekends before returning home to play Southeast Missouri State Sept. 13 in the home opener. On Sept the Red Wolves will travel to Natchitoches, La., to compete in a tournament at Northwestern State University and will open Sun Belt Conference play Sept. 23 against defending SBC champions Middle Tennessee State. The team will travel to Bowling Green, Ky., on Sept. 24th for a match against Western Kentucky before returning home for its longest home-stand of the year. ASU will host UALR Sept. 27 for an in-state battle and will play South Alabama Spet. 30 in Jonesboro to close out the month. Troy, Denver and North Texas will travel to the Natural State for matches on Oct. 1, 7 and 8 respectfully before the Red Wolves return to the road for their next three matches. ASU will travel to Little Rock Oct. 14 to play UALR followed by a trip to Florida to play Florida International Oct. 21 and Florida Atlantic Oct. 22. ASU will return home for its final two home games of the season to host a pair of Louisiana schools. The Red Wolves will host Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 28 followed by Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 29. The team will be on the road for the remainder of the season. ASU will travel to North Texas Nov. 4 followed by a crosscountry trip to Colorado Nov. 6 to play Denver. ASU will conclude regular season play in Louisiana against ULL Nov. 11 followed by ULM Nov. 13. This year s Sun Belt Conference tournament will be in Miama, Fla., Nov A-State Volleyball Sweeps ULM: MON- ROE, La. (11/13/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team finished its regular season on Sunday with a 25-15, 25-20, victory over Louisiana-Monroe. The Red Wolves, who clinched the Sun Belt West Division title on Friday night, will enter this week s Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed. A-State (20-10, 12-4 SBC) controlled the momentum throughout the match against the Warhawks (10-16, 4-12) and used a seven-point rally in the first set to take a 10-4 lead. A-State pushed the lead to on Jasmine Terry s fourth kill of the set on its way to a victory. Terry finished with a match-high 15 kills and.542 hitting percentage. I was very pleased with our level of offensive consistency this afternoon, ASU head coach Justin Ingram said. This was a great way to end the regular season of conference play and we are eager to compete this coming week at the conference tournament in Miami. A-State finished the match with.306 hitting percentage as a team, while ULM managed just a.058 percentage. The Red Wolves turned in a.342 hitting percentage in the third set compared to the Warhawks.050 percentage. In the third ASU quickly jumped out to a 15-5 advantage and trailed just once, on the set s first point, throughout the entire set. Taylor Szypulski added four of her eight kills in the set, while Megan Baska had nine of her match-high 18 digs. Louisiana-Monroe tested A-State in the second set and pulled within late in the game. However, a kill from Terry and back-to-back attacking errors from ULM gave the Red Wolves a set point opportunity, which Terry put away with a kill. Allison Kearney led A-State with 32 assists and 15 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Amanda Chaparro finished with 12 digs and six kills, while Cayla Fielder had six kills and three blocks in her final regular season match as a Red Wolf. The Red Wolves will be seeded third going into the SBC conference tournament, which is set to begin on Thursday in Miami, Fla. A-State Volleyball Captures SBC West Division Title: LAFAYETTE, La. (11/11/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team clinched the Sun Belt Conference West Division title with a 25-22, 25-20, victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night. A-State (20-9, 11-4 SBC) has won at least a share of the division title for the last three years under the direction of head coach Justin Ingram and this is the first divisional title they have won outright during that time. I think it speaks a lot to what we do in training, how we compete and the level of expectations that is put onto the program, Ingram said. It means a lot and I m certainly happy with a divisional title and we need to move forward and try to parlay it into something well at the conference tournament. The Red Wolves struggled early and fell behind 9-4 in the first set, but then rallied and scored six of the next seven points to tie the score at The Red Wolves continued their forward momentum to take a lead and forced the Ragin Cajuns (13-18, 5-10) to take a timeout. ASU kept the pressure on, however, and pulled ahead ULL managed to pull within late in the set, but could not force the tie and the Red Wolves took the first set A-State carried its momentum into the second set and hit for a.366 percentage on its way to a victory. On the night the Red Wolves finished with a.313 attacking percentage and had just nine attacking errors. Meanwhile, ULL struggled with 18 errors on the night and a.183 attacking percentage. We were really steady on our ability to serve-receive, locate and get a nice powerful swing throughout the night, Ingram said. I think our offense was clicking a.313 percentage and that alone made it very difficult for Louisiana to catch up. In the third set the two teams traded points until ASU scored five straight points to take a lead. The Ragin Cajuns pulled within but the Red Wolves scored three of the match s final five points for the set victory and 3-0 match victory. Jasmine Terry led A-State with 14 kills and a.500 hitting percentage. Taylor Szypulski added 11 kills, while Cayla Fielder and Amanda Chaparro had six kills each. Megan Baska finished the night with 20 digs, while Allison Kearney had 36 assists. ASU will finish its regular season Sunday, Nov. 13 with a match at Louisiana- Monroe. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ASU Volleyball Falls at Denver: DEN- VER, Colo. (11/6/11) The Arkansas State women s volleyball team suffered its second straight Sun Belt Conference setback with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, loss at Denver on Sunday. ASU opened the match strong in the first set and quickly jumped in front of the Pioneers Jasmine Terry, Cayla Fielder and Ashley Tipps led the charge for the Red Wolves offensively, while Megan Baska anchored the defense by collecting seven digs in the set, as A-State came away with victory. In the second set the Red Wolves struggled to find their attacking game, and committed 10 errors and finished with just 10 kills as Denver pulled even in the match at 1-1 with a win. ASU bounced back offensively in the third set and hit for a.270 attacking percentage. Both teams traded points throughout until Denver pulled away for a edge late, forcing ASU to take a timeout. The Pioneers increased the 24-21, but an attacking error and back-toback kills from Tipps pulled A-State within However, Denver put the set away on the next point to go up 2-1 in the match. The ups and downs of us having suc-

6 cess were too big for us to overcome, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We needed to have a more consistent offense in order to have the sustained success that was needed to win the match. ASU s offensive struggled returned in the fourth set as the Red Wolves had just a.038 attacking percentage in the set and fell behind early. Denver jumped out 9-3 lead and the Red Wolves never pulled closer than five points for the remainder of the set as Denver won the set and the match 3-1. Fielder led the team with 16 kills and a.414 attacking percentage. She now has 1,371 kills for her career and is tied for fifth most on the all-time ASU kill s list. Terry added 11 kills on the day, while Tipps finished with 10. Baska led the team with 17 digs, while Amanda Chaparro finished with 11. Allison Kearney added 45 assists and 16 digs on the day as well. The A-State volleyball team, which has already clinched a share of the SBC West Division title, needs just one more match victory to clinch the division out right. They will have two more chances next weekend when they travel to Louisiana-Lafayette Nov. 11 and Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 13. ASU Volleyball Swept by North Texas: DENTON, Texas. (11/4/11) The Arkansas State women s volleyball was swept by North Texas 25-21, 25-19, on Friday night. It was only the second time this season A-State has lost in straight sets, the first coming against Western Kentucky in September. The Red Wolves (19-8, 10-3 SBC) struggled offensively on the night and had a team hitting percentage of just.123 on the night. In third set the team had a percentage and committed 10 of their 23 errors on the night. A-State struggled from the start of the match and quickly fell behind 16-8 in the first set. ASU appeared to have found its rhythm however and managed to pull within late in the set. However, the Mean Green s early deficit proved to be too much for ASU to overcome and North Texas (15-15, 6-8) eventually won the set In the second set North Texas led for almost the entire match, despite A-State hanging close. The Red Wolves pulled within late in the match after a Jasmine Terry kill, but would not score another point as North Texas took the set and a 2-0 lead in the match. In third set A-State held a lead despite its poor hitting percentage, but the Mean Green caught fire and scored seven of the next eight points to take a edge in set that the Red Wolves would not recover from. Terry led the Red Wolves with 10 kills on the night, while Allison Kearney added 18 assists and A Zlynn Thompson provided 10. The Red Wolves will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. against Denver. ASU DOWNS ULL ON SENIOR DAY: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/30/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team defeated Louisiana-Monroe 27-25, 24-26, 25-8, on senior day at the HPESS Facility. The win also gave A-State a perfect 8-0 record at home this season, marking the first time an ASU volleyball team has gone undefeated at home since I think it is great for our fans and our girls certainly love it, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We like going undefeated anywhere, but doing it a home is certainly great. Arkansas State (19-7, 10-2 SBC) battled with the Warkhawks in the first two before settling in the final two to come away with the 3-1 victory. ASU jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first set, but ULM fought back to close the gap to late in the set. Taylor Szypulski setup a set point at 24-22, but the Warhawks (9-13, 3-9) fought off the next two points to tie the score at Jasmine Terry gave ASU a lead on the next point but ULM again fought off the set point and tied the score at Terry again put ASU ahead with a kill on the next point and an attacking error from ULM gave ASU a victory. In the second set the Red Wolves struggled to find a rythym offensively, while ULM stayed close throughout the match. The Warhawks hit for a.289 percentage in the set, while ASU struggled with a.143 percentage which allowed ULM to pull away for a victory. We started out a little slow and it took a little bit in order to take care of the small plays, Ingram said. Taking care of those plays at high efficiency is going to get us those points on the board. A-State dominated the third set and quickly built a 10-2 lead. The Red Wolves scored nine straight points in the match and easily won The Red Wolves carried the momentum in the fourth set as well and jumped out to a 15-6 edge. Amanda Chaparro eventually put the set and match away for ASU with back-toback kills to give A-State the set victory and a 3-1 match victory. Fielder, who played in her last home game as a Red Wolf, finished the match with 15 kills and three blocks. Terry added 13 kills on the afternoon and Syzpulski finished 12 kills and eight digs. Megan Baska paced the defense with 17 digs and A Zlynn Thompson had a career-high 43 assists. Whitney Nilson had one dig in her final home match as a Red Wolf. The A-State volleyball team will return to the court on Nov. 4 at North Texas followed by a match at Denver on Nov. 6. ASU REMAINS UNDEFEATED AT HOME: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/28/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team remained undefeated at home this season with a 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night. ASU (18-7, 9-2 SBC) won first two sets and went into the break after the second set with a 2-0 lead. The Red Wolves looked poised to take the third set as well and led late in the set. However, the Rajin Cajuns (10-17, 2-9) closed the gap to 21-20, forcing A-State head coach Justin Ingram to take a timeout. A kill by Cayla Fielder gave ASU a lead, but ULL scored the set s final five points to take the win. The Red Wolves responded in the third set and quickly pulled ahead for a edge. Amanda Chaparro, Taylor Szypulski and A Zlynn Thompson helped push the lead to with kills. Szypulski gave ASU a lead with a kill and a service error from the Rajin Cajuns setup a match point opportunity for A-State. Jasmine Terry put the set and match away on the next point to give the Red Wolves a 3-1 match victory. I think coming in Lafayette did some things we weren t accustomed to seeing and it took a little while for us to adjust, Ingram said. We were giving to many points away the beginning of the match and we just needed to get back to what we do well, which is a high offensive team that is low is error and eventually we settled back into it and played pretty well. In the first set A-State never trailed was only briefly tied with ULL early in the match. ASU hit for a.367 percentage in the first, while the Rajin Cajuns struggled and managed just a.240 percentage as the red Wolves pulled away for the victory. In the second set ASU hit for a.481 percentage, while ULL managed just a.143 percentage. ASU had 15 kills as a team in the second set and just two errors. Fielder led the Red Wolves with 18 kills, while Szypulski added 14. A Zlynn Thompson had a career-high 26 assists and Allison Kearney added 24 assists.

7 Megan Baska turned in 20 digs, while Fielder added four blocks and Szypulski finished with three. The Red Wolves are now 7-0 at home this season and are looking to go undefeated at home for the first time since ASU will play its final home game of the season Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at the HPESS. ASU SWEEPS FAU: BOCA Raton, Fla. (10/23/11) The Arkansas State women s volleyball team defeated Florida Atlantic in a 25-17, 25-15, sweep on Sunday. A-State senior Cayla Fielder moved into seventh-place on the ASU all-time kill s with 1,315 for her career. She finished with 11 kills on night, while Taylor and Jasmine Terry added 12 kills each. Szypulski needed one more kill to tie her career-high of 13 kills in a match. Allison Kearney finished with a career-high.750 attacking percentage, and also added 35 assists on the night. We knew coming in that we could score points in bunches and I thought our serve would dictate how many we could get in a row, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We certainly put it on them, having nine aces and we are just happy to come out of this match with a victory In the first set Arkansas State (17-7, 8-2 SBC) controlled the pace early and jumped out to an 11-6 lead. Jasmine Terry paced the Red Wolves with five kills in the set, while Allison Kearney added three block assists, including one with Fielder to give A-State a edge. The block came at the end of a long rally, the featured A-State digging out balls by diving on the floor. Kearney put the set away two points later on with a kill to give the Red Wolves a victory set one victory. Szypulski paced A-State in the second set, collecting five kills in the set to power the Red Wolves to a victory. FAU ( ) took an 8-7 lead early in the set, but Szypulski responded with back-to-back kills to give the Red Wolves a 9-8 advantage. Fielder pushed the lead to with two straight kills and Kearney closed out the set with an ace to give ASU a 2-0 edge in the match. In the third set ASU jumped out to an early 10-5 lead, but the Owls bounced back and pulled within After an A- State timeout, ASU pushed the led to behind kills from Jasmine Terry and a block from Kelsie Hodges. Fielder gave the Red Wolves a set point opportunity at and a service error from FAU gave ASU the set victory and a 3-0 match victory. The Red Wolves hit for a.341 percentage as a team in the match, while the Owls managed just a.098 percentage. In the first set ASU had a.286 percentage, compared to FAU s.040 percentage. In the second set ASU hit for a.345 percentage and a.393 percentage in the third set. Megan Baska led the A-State defense with 11 digs, while Kearney and Fielder each finished with three block assists. ASU will return to court Friday, Oct. 28 for a match against Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. at the HPESS. ASU DROPS FIVE-SET THRILLER TO FIU: Miami, Fla. (10/21/11) The Arkansas State women s had its six game winning streak snapped with a 28-26, 20-25, 25-21, 19-25, loss to Florida International on Friday night. The loss was A-State s second conference loss of the season. Cayla Fielder and Allison Kearney each set new career-highs on the night for A-State. Fielder finished the night with 25 kills, while Kearney added 66 assists. Ashley Tipps added 15 kills, while Amanda Chaparro finished with 14. Taylor Szypulski added 12 kills and Jasmine Terry had 10. In the decisive fifth-set, ASU (16-7, 7-2 SBC) held an early 8-6 lead, but FIU rallied to tie the score at 8-8 and then pull ahead ASU scored on a kill from Fielder, but FIU (12-7, 4-4) bounced right back to push the lead to A-State rallied and closed the gap to and forced FIU to take a timeout. ASU scored coming out of the timeout to close the gap to 13-12, but FIU scored the next point to set a match point, however the Panthers failed to convert and closed again at and then again to tie the score at FIU took a lead to setup a match point again and converted on its next to win the set and take the 3-2 match victory. The Red Wolves forced the fifth set after winning set four behind a seven kill performance from Fielder and four from Amanda Chaparro. A-State grabbed momentum early and forced FIU to take a timeout after pulling ahead 9-5. The Red Wolves maintained a three-point edge for the rest of the match and had a.593 attacking percentage in the set. A- State had just three attacking errors in the set to help set the pace in the set. ASU struggled to find a rhythm in the first set and never led by more the one point throughout the set. A-State struggled early, falling behind 7-3, but fought back with kills from Fielder and Taylor Szypulski and an attack error from FIU to tie the score at 7-7. Both teams continued to trade points until the Panthers took a lead, but the Red Wolves fought off the next three set points and have a set point opportunity at However, ASU could not close out the set and the Panthers came back to win it A-State bounced back in the second set and quickly jumped out to a 10-5 advantage. The Red Wolves pushed the lead to 17-8 behind the play of Fielder, who had six kills in the set. Chaparro gave ASU a set opportunity a and Fielder put the set away with a hard kill to give ASU a victory and tie the match at 1-1. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead after winning set three and controlling much of the pace throughout the fame. ASU stayed close and tied the score at 5-5 after a Chaparro kill, but never led or tied the score again. FIU maintained a two-point advantage after pulling ahead 7-5 for the rest of the match despite solid play from the Red Wolves. Megan Baska paced the defense with 17 kills, while Shelby Crncic added 12 and Kearney finished with 10. ASU will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 23 with a match against Florida Atlantic. ASU VOLLEYBALL WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT: LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (10/14/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team won its sixth straight match with 25-19, 26-28, 25-17, victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday night. ASU (16-6, 7-1 SBC) senior Cayla Fielder also moved into eighth-place on the all-time kills list. The Jonesboro native finished with 14 kills, a.333 attacking percentage and five digs. Allison Kearney also enjoyed a big night with 50 assists, her second highest total of the season. In the first set the Trojans built an early 11-6 lead, but the Red Wolves slowly fought their way back into the set. An ace from Fielder closed the UALR (8-14, 3-5) lead to and ASU tied the set at on a block from Ashley Tipps and Amanda Chaparro. Tipps gave A-State the lead on the next point by pounding home a hard kill, prompting the Trojans to take a timeout. UALR tied the match coming out of the timeout, but the Red Wolves took the lead for good on the next point and Fielder pushed the lead to on the next point. That kill also moved her into eighth-place on the ASU all-time kill s chart. She finished with three kills and one ace to help the Red Wolves to a first set victory.

8 We saw a lot of great things tonight from our team, ASU coach Justin Ingram said. We were just talking about our side outs tonight and how get continually got better as the match went on. If we can side out at a real high efficiency we have a real good chance at pulling out a victory. ASU started out strong in the second and quickly jumped ahead 4-1. UALR battled back to tie the set at 7-7 and eventually took a lead. A-State grabbed the momentum back with an ace from Megan Baska to tie the set at and took the lead on the next point on a block from Terry and Fielder. ASU pushed the lead to and Tipps gave the Red Wolves a set point opportunity with a kill. The Trojans rallied, however, and closed the lead to forcing ASU to take a timeout. UALR scored the next two points coming out of the timeout to tie the score at 24-24, but Tipps put A-State ahead but the Trojans tied the score again and eventually took a lead and eventually won the set I was pretty happy with the majority of the match, Ingram said. I thought we played pretty consistent and we had productivity from our middles again. ASU responded in a big way in third set behind the play of Tipps. The sophomore had six kills as the Red Wolves jumped out to a 10-2 advantage. The Trojans rallied to close the gap to the 13-9, but could pull no closer. Tipps finished the set by accounting for four of ASU s final eleven points, including the set s final to give ASU the victory and 2-1 lead in the match. In the fourth set ASU never trailed and lead The Red Wolves advanced the lead to and eventually won the As a team ASU finished with a.261 attacking percentage and was led by Tipps in kills with 16. Terry added 13 and Fielder finished with 14. Kearney had a team-high 50 assists, while Taylor Szypulski added 13 digs. ASU Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/8/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team won its fifth straight Sun Belt Conference match with a 25-21, 25-22, sweep over North Texas on Saturday night. The Red Wolves (15-6, 6-1 SBC) finished with a.371 attacking percentage as a team and hit for a high average in each set. Five players finished with attacking percentages of.333 or better. Allison Kearney led the team with a.750 attacking percentage and added three kills, while Cayla Fielder had a team-high 12 kills and a.522 attacking percentage. We are happy our offensive rhythm and offensive success we are having right now, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We had some sensational averages tonight and we couldn t be happier with our offense and the defense we played tonight. Fielder now has 1,265 kills for her career and needs just one more to move into a tie for eighth-place on the all-time ASU kill s list. She also added seven digs, one solo block and four blocks assists on the night to power the Red Wolves to the sweep. A-State started strong and jumped out to a lead in the first set. The Red Wolves scored four straight points behind the serving of Kearney, but the Mean Green (10-11, 1-5) made a run and closed the gap to Ashley Tipps gave the Red Wolves a edge with a kill, prompting North Texas to take a time out. After North Texas closed the gap to 22-20, Jasmine Terry put ASU up with a kill and Fielder put the game away with a few points later to give A-State a victory in set one. In the second set Fielder and Jasmine Terry broke a tie with one of ASU s 10 blocks on the night. The point gave A- State the lead for good, but North Texas managed to stay close. The Mean Green had 15 kills in the set, compared to 13 for ASU but couldn t keep the momentum going in their favor and dropped the set to give ASU a 2-0 lead in the match. They put up high kills and we put up high kills and that s why the scores were so close in the first two sets, Ingram said. In the end it comes down to averages, though, and as the match went along they struggled and we managed to stay consistent. ASU wasted little time in asserting itself in set three and quickly built a 15-6 lead. Terry finished with five of her 10 kills in the set as the Red Wolves won easily to take the set and the match. Fielder led the Red Wolves with 12 kills, while Terry added 10. Kearney finished with 34 assists and led the team with 12 digs. Megan Baska added 11 digs and Tipps finished with three solo blocks. A-State finished 5-0 on its home stand and will return to the court on Friday, Oct. 14 at Arkansas-Little Rock. ASU Volleyball Remains Undefeated at Home: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/7/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team won its fifth straight home match on Friday night with a 24-26, 25-18, 25-15, victory over Denver. Senior Cayla Fielder led the Red Wolves (14-6, 5-1 SBC) with 15 kills and a.421 attacking percentage on the night. She moved her career total in kills to 1,253 kills and now needs just 13 kills to move into a tie for eighth-place on the all-time ASU kill s list. Denver (6-11, 3-2) jumped out early and muscled its way to a victory in the first set. The Pioneers led for much of the set, but the Red Wolves had chances to put the game away. Amanda Chaparro gave A-State a edge, but followed with a service error to tie the score. ASU took the lead back on the next point on a service error from Denver to setup up a set point, but the Pioneers rallied to score the next three points to take the first set victory. It is just about hitting our rhythms again, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. In order to hit for efficiency you have to feel good about it and you have to be in rhythm. I think it is always challenging to repeat those same cycles every practice. When you aren t in rhythm it is just about fighting through it and I thought we did a good job of that tonight. A-State bounced back in set two to win and then jumped out to a 15-9 lead in set three behind the play of Fielder. The Jonesboro native had four kills in the set as the Red Wolves cruised to a victory to take a 2-1 lead in the match. In the fourth set ASU took a lead and forced the Pioneers to take a timeout. Following the timeout the Red Wolves continued their push forward and built a edge. Denver managed to pull within 23-18, but A-State pulled away and eventually put the set away on a kill from Taylor Szypulski to give ASU a set victory and 3-1 match victory. Jasmine Terry finished with 15 kills for the Red Wolves, while Ashley Tipps had 10 kills and a.421 attacking percentage. Szypulski had 15 digs defensively, while Megan Baska added 12. Allison Kearney added 49 assists, while Tipps and Fielder each had one solo block. ASU VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS TROY: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/1/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team won its third straight Sun Belt Conference match on Saturday night after defeating Troy 25-17, 25-11, at the HPESS Facility. A-State (13-6, 4-1) dominated the second set and scored 11 straight points to build an 18-6 edge. Senior Cayla Fielder had five kills during the rally and Amanda

Troy (12-6, 2-2) never recovered from the ASU rally and eventually dropped the set This is probably the best we have played all season and everyone came out with a lot of energy, Fielder said. I was pretty pleased with the way I played tonight. Each night I try to think about how I can do something a little better and that helps me improve in each match. In the first set ASU battled the Lady Trojans early on before building a edge. Troy pulled within 18-14, but the Red Wolves pulled ahead to win Fielder led the charge for A-State with five her match-high 18 kills. She also finished with a.750 attacking percentage on the night, two digs and three block assists. ASU controlled the pace for much of set three. The Red Wolves jumped out to a lead, but Troy managed to keep the score close and never trailed by more than five. Fielder had eight kills in the set as A- State pulled away for the victory. Fielder was certainly great for us tonight, averaging six kills a game for us with no errors and that is just fantastic stuff, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. Her numbers also speak a lot to our passing because if our passing is off we can t the ball to her and our other middles enough. Our passers were good tonight and our defense remained constant and I think things certainly picked up today and we gave good effort. Taylor Szypulski finished with eight kills for ASU, while Jasmine Terry added seven. Allison Kearney added 39 assists, while Megan Baska had 12 digs. ASU VOLLEYBALL WINS THIRD STRAIGHT AT HOME: JONESBORO, Ark. (9/30/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team picked up its third home victory of the year with a 25-27, 25-23, 25-10, win over South Alabama on Friday night. The Red Wolves have yet to lose at home this season. South Alabama (7-6, 2-1 Sun Belt Conference) rallied to win set one after the Red Wolves (12-6, 3-1)for most of the way. The Lady Jaguars did not take their first lead until Cayla Fielder tied the game at with a kill, but South Alabama won the next two points earn the come from behind victory in set one. The Red Wolves bounced back in set two to win South Alabama again closed the gap late, pulling within but ASU rallied behind Fielder who had seven of her match-high 22 kills in the set. ASU cruised to a victory in the third set before battling to a victory in the fourth set. In the fourth set the Red Wolves trailed 20-17, but rallied to tie the score at Fielder was strong once again, collecting five kills in the set, including one to tie the score at After an attack error from South Alabama, the Red Wolves served for match point where Taylor Szypulski closed out the match with a kill to give the Red Wolves a 3-1 victory over South Alabama. Our middles performed at high efficiency again, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "They are bailing us out of a lot of situations and we need total team offense in order to take some of that pressue off of them. There were glimpses of good things going on and we just need to package them in bigger groups and our goal is to have five good things happen in a row before we have an off play." Fielder added four block assists and three digs to go along with her 22 kills. Jasmine Terry added 11 kills and Ashley Tipps had 10 kills. Allison Kearney added 43 assists and seven digs, while Syzpulski had 10 digs. ASU WINS SBC HOME OPENER: JONESBORO, Ark. (9/27/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team defeated in-state Sun Belt Conference foe Arkansas-Little Rock 17-25, 25-20, 25-17, on Tuesday night at the HPESS Facility. The Red Wolves (11-6, 2-1 SBC) fell behind in set one but rallied to win the next three to take the first of two matchups against the Lady Trojans (5-12, 0-3) this season. ASU has now won five-straight matches over UALR and improved to in the all-time series. The Lady Trojans jumped out to an early lead in set one thanks to an impressive.696 attacking percentage. A-State rebounded in set two and scored five straight points to build a edge. Following a timeout, UALR closed the gap to but ASU pulled away for a victory. I felt like it took us a while to get going, but honestly Arkansas-Little Rock was just phenomenal in that first set, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. As the match went on thankfully they settled down a little bit and we got to score more points in a row off of our serve. We need that to spread the lead and really have any success. ASU controlled the pace for much of set three, jumping out to a edge. Cayla Fielder added three of her match 12 kills in the set. The senior finished with a season-high.647 attacking percentage, added three digs and four block assists. In the fourth set the Lady Trojans held a lead but the Red Wolves worked quickly to erase the deficit. Back-to-back kills from Jasmine Terry and Amanda Chaparro closed the gap to and a ball handling error on the Lady Trojans tied the score. After a timeout, UALR regained the lead at 16-15, but a kill from Terry tied the score again. An attacking on UALR put ASU up and the Red Wolves never trailed again in set. I think our team is really molding right now, Ingram said. We have some confidence and we are playing some really tough teams and having some success against them. We are with fight in the team and the consistency that we are seeing. Taylor Szypulski finished with 11 kills and six digs for the Red Wolves, while Terry finished with 11 kills and a.476 attacking percentage. Megan Baska led the team with 10 digs and Allison Kearney had 46 assists, seven digs and two service aces. ASU will continue its five match home stand Friday, Sept. 30 against South Alabama followed by a match Saturday, Oct. 1 against Troy. Both matches will start at 7 p.m. and both will played in the HPESS Facility. ASU Drops SBC Match to Western Kentucky: Bowling Green, Ky. (9/24/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team dropped its first Sun Belt Conference match of the season with a 25-21, 25-14, loss to Western Kentucky. Arkansas State (10-6, 1-1 SBC) struggled to defend the Lady Hilltoppers (15-1, 2-0) attacking offense and fell behind early. Late in the first set ASU closed the score to 20-18, but could pull no closer as Western Kentucky won the set In the second set ASU struggled to get its attack going it quickly fell behind 20-9 and could not recover. In the third set the Lady Hilltoppers again jumped out to an early lead that the Red Wolves could not recover from. Western Kentucky presented an offense that is irregular and difficult to defend, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. 10 ASU Volleyball Wins Fifth-Straight Match: Murfreesboro, Tenn. (9/23/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team opened Sun Belt Conference play on Friday night with a thrilling 23-25, 25-14, 30-28, 19-25, victory over Middle Tennessee. The win pushed the A-State winning streak to six -straight matches and marked the first win for ASU (10-5, 1-0 SBC) over Middle Tennessee (2-9, 0-1) since In the fifth set the Red Wolves fought off back-to-back match points and rallied to tie the game at The Blue Raiders also had match point opportunities at and but also failed to convert on those opportunities. The Red Wolves rallied once again to take an lead, but also failed to put away the match. With the score tied at 18-18, a service error from the Blue Raiders setup another match point for ASU and an attack error on the next serve gave ASU the victory and snapped a 10-match losing streak to the Blue Raiders. When it was 11-all I think it s safe to say both sides viewed it as a race to get four points, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. It s a tough thing to do to fight off that many match points in a tough environment on the road and I thought we did a good job of fighting off those points. The Red Wolves were paced by their middle attackers Cayla Fielder and Ashley Tipps. Fielder finished with 20 kills, her second highest total of the season, and a.378 attacking percentage. Tipps added 19 kills and had a season best.692 attacking percentage. Our middle attackers were just outstanding tonight, Ingram said. We had 39 kills between Fielder and Tipps and not only are we getting them the ball a lot they are continually bailing us out of pressure situations. The Red Wolves held a lead late in the set, but Middle Tennessee fought back to tie the score at A- State had six set point opportunities in the game before finally converting on their seventh attempt on a kill from Tipps. Middle Tennessee won the fourth set to push to the match to a fifth set. Allison Kearney finished with a seasonhigh 54 assists, while three Red Wolves reached double figures in digs. ASU Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight Match: NATCHITOCHES, La. (9/17/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team completed an undefeated weekend at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational by defeating host Northwestern State 25-16, 25-19, on Saturday afternoon. This marks ASU s second tournament of the year in which they have gone undefeated. The first occurred Sept. 2-3 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Lipscomb Invitational. This also marked the Red Wolves fifth straight victory after defeating Hofstra on Sept. 10 Southeast Missouri State at home on Sept. 13 and Alcorn State and Central Arkansas on Friday. A-State (9-5) was fueled in the match by Taylor Szypulski who finished 11 kills and personal season-high.550 attacking percentage. She was also named to the all-tournament and was named tournament MVP. Jasmine Terry and Amanda Chaparro were also named to the all-tournament team. We knew coming into today's match that Northwestern State is an aggressive serving team and we would be challenged, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. We handled their serving pressure well and made it difficult for them to sideout with our low-flat serves and big blocking presence. In the second set Szypulski had five kills, one block and a dig to help ASU to a victory. The Red Wolves and Lady Demons (3-10) were tied at 16-16, but ASU scored the next six points to push the lead to A kill from Cayla Fielder made the score and an attack error from Northwestern State setup set point for A-State. Szypulski put the set away with a kill to give ASU a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set ASU grabbed the moment early and jumped out to a 16-8 behind the play of Szypulski. ASU won all of its games in three sets on the weekend, marking the first time the Red Wolves had accomplished the feat since 2009 when they did at the ASU Invitational. (9/16/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team picked a pair victories over Alcorn State and Central Arkansas after the first day of play at the Holiday In Express Invitational on the campus of Northwestern State University. The Red Wolves swept Alcorn State 25-4, 25-5, 25-4 in the morning first match and then ended the day with a 25-20, 25-19, sweep over Central Arkansas. ASU is now 5-0 in matches that have gone just three sets this season. Against Alcorn State the Red Wolves (8-5) finished with a season-high 19 aces, just three off the all-time record for aces in a single match by an ASU team set in 2007 against Centenary. Allison Kearney set a season-high with seven aces. Kelsie Hodge, Megan Baska and Sadie Clark finished with three aces each. Arkansas State never trailed in any set against Alcorn State and was led by Taylor Coughlin s eight kills. She also finished with a.571 attacking percentage, while Hodges finished a.714 percentage. "Today was a very good win for our volleyball program. Central Arkansas has had a lot of success the past few years and just came off a significant BIG 10 win last weekend," ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "We were pleased with our performance and had several players with key roles in this victory. Our ability to serve aggressive and stay there for a while is important and Allison and Amanda were terrific for us." (9/13/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team defeated Southeast Missouri State 25-15, 25-23, in its home opener at the HPESS Facility on Tuesday night as Cayla Fielder continued her march up the ASU record books. The senior is now tied with Pip Soulsby for ninth-place all-time on the Arkansas State kills list with 1,144. She finished the night 11 kills and paced the Red Wolves in their three-set sweep over Southeast Missouri State. In the first set A-State (6-5) jumped out to an early 10-5 lead and the Red Hawks (2-9) never recovered. Ashley Tipps and Fielder paced the Red Wolves at the net. Tipps finished with five kills in the set, while Fielder added to help ASU cruise to a victory. I was real happy with how we handled what SEMO was throwing at us, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. I was happy about how we competed and we certainly had our middle attack going tonight. ASU held a edge in the second set, but the Redhawks closed the gap to late in the set. A kill from Tipps pushed the lead to 23-21, but SEMO answered with a kills of its own to close the lead to one. Jasmine Terry gave the Red Wolves a set point opportunity with a kill and an attack error from SEMO gave ASU the set and a 2-0 match lead. In the third set ASU trailed 10-9 but an ace from Allison Kearney and back-to-back attacking errors from SEMO gave the Red Wolves a lead that they would not surrender. Later in the set ASU scored seven straight points to push the lead to 23-14, and Fielder gave ASU a match point opportunity with her 11th kill of the night. An attack error from SEMO gave the Red Wolves the set and the match. We really came out with a lot of energy after that 10 minute break, Fielder said of the third set. If our defensive players get an awesome dig it just makes us want to get a kill even more because of the effort they put out for the dig. (9/9/11) - The Arkansas State volleyball team wrapped up play at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational on the campus of Missouri State with a 25-15, 25-21, 14-25, 19-25, victory over Hofstra on Saturday. After winning the first two sets, Hofstra battled back to win the next two to force a fifth-set. In the final set ASU jumped out to an early 10-6 lead behind the play of Ashley Tipps who had three kills in the set. Hofstra closed the gap to 11-9 but ASU scored four of the final six points to take the set and the match. "We feel fortunate to walk away unscathed," ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "Although our offensive is lacking consistency, we are high enough and powerful enough to compete with anyone. In the first set A-State jumped out to a lead and quickly pushed the advantage to behind the play of Cayla Fielder, who finished with four kills in the set. In the second set Tipps led the charge with five kills to give the Red Wolves a 2-0 edge in the match. Hofstra bounced back in the third set, earning a victory and pulled away late in the fourth set to push the match to a decisive fifth set. (9/8/11) - The Arkansas State volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational on the campus of Missouri State University on Friday. South Dakota State defeated the Red Wolves 26-28, 25-21, 18-25, 30-28, in the day s first match, followed by a 26-28, 25-23, 25-21, loss to Missouri State in the nightcap. ASU trailed Missouri State in the first set, but slowly began chipping away at the Lady Bears' lead. Taylor Szypulski closed the gap to with a kill, but Missouri State inched ahead once again and held a lead to setup two set points scenarios. The Lady Bears failed to convert on both opportunities and the Red Wolves took advantage. Cayla Fielder gave A-State (4-5) its first lead of the set with a kill and a service ace from Amanda Chaparro gave the Red Wolves a comeback victory in the first set. However, ASU failed to carry the momentum over into the next set. Missouri State built a lead and the Red Wolves could not erase the deficit. In the third set, the two battled back-and-forth but the Lady Bears scored five of the set s final six points to take a 2-1 lead in the match. In the fourth set Missouri State pulled away late in the set again. The two teams were tied at 19-19, but the Lady Bears scored the next four points to take a lead. ASU pulled within 23-21, but Missouri State closed out the set by scoring the final two points to earn the four-set victory. Jasmine Terry led A-State in the match with 12 kills, while Szypulski added 10. Megan Baska and Chaparro paced the team with 14 digs each, while Allison Kearney led with the Red Wolves with 41 assists. She also had 12 digs. "I think we made errors at the wrong time," ASU volleyball coach Justing Ingram said of the Missouri State match. "However, we had really good stretches of volleyball and probably as good as we have had all year." Against South Dakota State the Red Wolves dropped a thrilling five-set match to the Lady Jack Rabbits. Late in the first set ASU trailed before rallying to tie the score at After fending off two set points, the Red Wolves took the lead. "We are getting very close to becoming a very dangerous team," ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "We had three match points against South Dakota State and it was disappointing to lose in five. (9/5/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team fell to Saint Louis University 26-24, 25-15, 16-25, in a nonconference matchup Monday afternoon. The Red Wolves (4-3), who came off an undefeated weekend in the Lipscomb Invitational, dropped their first two sets to the Billikens (3-1) and struggled to take advantage of scoring opportunities. We had plenty of opportunities today to come away with more set wins and did not take advantage of it, ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. Saint Louis served aggressive all match and made it difficult for our receivers to maintain consistent rhythm. There is no doubt we will recover quickly and prepare ourselves for this weekend s matches in Springfield. In the first set ASU led 24-22, but was unable to close out the victory and allowed Saint Louis to score the final four points to earn the first set victory. In set two the Billikens quickly built a 14-6 advantage that the Red Wolves were unable to recover from. Saint Louis won the set A-State found momentum in the middle of the third set and went on a five-point run to gain a edge. A-State Volleyball takes Four-Set win over Lipscomb: NASHVILLE, Tenn. (9/3/11) The Arkansas State volleyball team completed an undefeated weekend at the Lipscomb Invitational with a 25-15, 26-24, 16-25, victory over Lipscomb on Saturday. The perfect weekend marks the first time the Red Wolves have gone undefeated in a tournament since 2009 when they accomplished the feat at both the ASU Invitational and the MSU Bulldog Invitational. Cayla Fielder earned tournament MVP honors after finishing the tournament with 37 kills, two aces, 10 blocks assists and 12 digs. Jasmine Terry and Allison Kearney were also named to the All-Tournament team. Terry finished the weekend with 31 kills, one ace and six digs while Kearney had 76 assists, 10 aces and 26 digs. I am very honored to be tournament MVP and I always try to play hard when I go out on the floor, Fielder said. Every time I get an award like that I am proud of myself and proud of my teammates because I know I wouldn t be able to win those awards if it wasn t for them. The Red Wolves earned a 25-13, 24-26, 25-16, 23-25, victory over the 49ERS and then topped the Golden Eagles in a 25-21, 29-27, sweep. Against Charlotte Allison Kearney helped ASU (3-2) build a 20-9 advantage in the first set by collecting six aces on her first 10 serves. In the second set the Red Wolves led but failed to secure the win as the 49ERS scored the set's final seven points to earn the come from behind victory. In the third set the Red Wolves again jumped out to an early lead and took the victory and 2-1 advantage in the match. The two squads battled back-andforth in the fourth set and ASU held a 20-15, but the 49ERS battled back and eventually won to force a final set. In the fifth set A-State quickly took an 11-6 edge behind a strong effort from Ashley Tipps. The sophomore collected four

Samford won the thrilling five set contest 15-25, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, to give the Red Wolves (1-2) their second loss of the season. ASU led 12-8 in the fifth set, but the Lady Bulldogs won seven of the next eight points to earn the victory. "We need more production out of our pin hitters and setters in order to feel better about our level of play," ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "Being ahead 12-8 in the 5th set and taking the loss is incredibly difficult to swallow, but we plan on regrouping quickly to get back into our offensive rhythms at practice on Monday." Arkansas State opened the match strong and jumped to an 18-6 advantage in the first set. Samford (3-0) pulled within but the Red Wolves won the final two points including a service from newcomer Amanda Chaparro on set point to earn the victory. ASU Volleyball Sweeps Akron, Falls in Five Sets to UAB: The Arkansas State volleyball team opened the 2011 season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, ) sweep over Akron before falling to Alabama-Birmingham 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 28-26, 20-25, 15-12) after the first day of play the Samford/UAB Invitational. The Red Wolves (1-1) opened the tournament with a victory over Akron behind a solid performance from Cayla Fielder. The senior finished with 12 kills, which put her over 1,000 kills in her career as a Red Wolf. Taylor Szypulski finished with 10 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore libero Megan Baska added 12 digs. Allison Kearney had 22 assists and Jasmine Terry finished with 11 assists. A'Zlynn Thompson added 11 assists in her first match as a Red Wolf. In set one ASU trailed before rallying behind Fielder and Szypulski to tie the set at 22. Syzpulski gave the Red Wolves a lead and Shelby Crncic followed with back-to-back kills to give ASU a set point opportunity. In the Red Wolves second match of the day the team fell to UAB despite fighting off five straight match points in the deciding fifth set. UAB led 14-7, but the Red Wolves closed the gap to thanks to ball handling errors from the Lady Blazers and back-to-back kills from Szypulski. However, the rally fell short as UAB took the next point to close out the match. "The first tournament of every season is typically filled with nerves, limited scouting and inconsistencies," ASU volleyball coach Justin Ingram said. "Even though there were glimpses of great moments, we need to steady out tomorrow and play like we do each day at practice. Although Akron and UAB were both talented, Samford has tremendous offensive abilities and will require us to be better for longer stretches in order to win." Baska led the team with 40 digs during the match and Allison Kearney led the way with 38 assists. Fielder finished with 18 kills, while Szypulski added 13 kills and 10 digs. Ashley Tipps finished with 15 digs and Jasmine Terry collected 10 kills. Crncic finished with 10 digs and two aces and Thompson finished with 18 assists.
