EMU will take on four different opponents in two days this weekend. The Eagles first face Arkansas-Little Rock at 10 a.m. Friday morning and follow-up with Southern Illinois at 2 p.m., Aug. 24. The Eagles break until Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. when they take on Austin Peay and finish up the invitational playing the host, Memphis, at 5 p.m. Saturday evening. In 2007, the Eagles began play, Aug. 24, against Charlotte in the 49er Invitational with a 3-2 victory in Charlotte, N.C. Just a season prior in 2006, the Green and White played the then-earliest opener, Aug. 25, against New Mexico State at the Sun Bowl Volleyball Invitational. ALL-TIME VERSUS THE MEMPHIS INVITATIONAL FIELD: Overall against the field this weekend, the Eagles are EMU holds a record against its first opponent of the weekend, UALR. The Green and White looks for its 20th win against Southern Illinois at 2 p.m. Friday against whom they are all-time. The Eagles have a record against the Governors of Austin Peay. Finally, when EMU and Memphis face-off Saturday at 5 p.m., it will be the first meeting between the two programs. EAGLES PREPPED FOR 2012 CAMPAIGN: The Green and White return 10 letterwinners from the 2011 squad, including five starters. Seniors Kristen Baker, Rachel Iaquaniello and Kaitlyn Vincek will lead the team this season as they try to earn one of eight openings into the slimmed MAC Tournament field. EMU also welcome four new faces to the 2012 roster.

Both Mason and Stein made marks in the EMU record books during their four years donning the Green and White. Mason holds the career record for sets played with 506, while Stein sits in second with 487. Mason is also second on the career assists list with 4,907 and Stein is second in career digs with 2,158. Cassie Sowers, the other graduated senior from 2011, played the fourth-most sets in Eastern s history with 454. BERRINGTON S 17TH SEASON AT EMU: Head Coach Kim Berrington is entering her 17th season as head coach of the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team. The seventh coach in the program s history, Berrington became its winningest coach on Sept. 20, 2003, as the Eagles posted a victory over East Carolina in the Coastal Carolina Tournament. The victory was Berrington s 110th win at the helm of the EMU program. During her tenure as head coach, Berrington has posted an overall record of and a mark in conference play. In 11 of the last 12 seasons, she has led the Eagles to the MAC Tournament, with the 1999 campaign marking the first time the squad played in the postseason event since the 1990 season. Her teams have also led the MAC in digs in seven of the last 12 seasons, including ranking nationally in five of those campaigns. The next scheduled broadcast is Tuesday, Aug. 28, when the Cleveland State Vikings come calling to the Convocation Center. Air time is schedule for 6:50 p.m. from the Convocation Center. Veteran play-by-play voice Chad Bush calls the action from the Convocation Center. MAKING THEIR HOME ON THE ROAD: The Eagles will start the season with just one home match prior to opening the Mid-American Conference schedule against Western Michigan Friday, Sept. 21. EMU will be on the road for its first four matches at the Memphis Invitational, Aug , and will host Cleveland State Tuesday, Aug. 28. The match against CSU will be the only home match until WMU comes calling, Sept. 21. The Green and White will spend the next 11 matches on the road before hosting the Broncos to start MAC play. IAQUANIELLO EYEING THE EMU RECORD BOOK: Senior outside hitter Rachel Iaquaniello is looking to become one of the most storied players in Eastern Michigan volleyball history during the 2012 campaign. The two-time first team All-MAC selection is looking to become just the second three-time first team All-MAC performers. The only other EMU volleyballer to wear that crown is Roxanne Munch, who did so from Iaquaniello earned her first team honors in both the 2010 and 2011 campaigns. In her first three seasons on the outside for Eastern, the Plymouth, Mich. native has recorded 1,395 kills, which ranks third all-time in EMU laurels. Iaquaniello has averaged 465 kills per season and looks to break Munch s record of 1,537 kills which was set 23 years ago in Iaquaniello also sits third all-time in the career record book with 4,089 attack attempts. She is averaging 1,363 attacks per season and needs just 367 to tie Jennifer Nighswander who had 4,456 in her career at Eastern. CRAWSHAW NAMED TO MAC ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM: Sophomore Megan Crawshaw earned her first MAC honors by being named to the All-Freshmen Team in Crawshaw filled the void for the Eagles in the middle during her rookie year donning the Green and White. Playing in 97 sets as a true freshman, the Mattawan, Mich. native piled up 115 kills (1.14 kills per set) and 68.0 total blocks (.67 blocks per set). Crawshaw picked up a career-high nine kills in the Eagles final home match against the Central Michigan Chippewas. The middle blocker was able to have a.500-or-better hitting percentage on six different occasions throughout the season, including her performance against the Chips, Nov. 3.

The Ohio University Bobacts were picked to finish first in the East Division, while the Western Michigan University Broncos were selected to finish first in the West Division as well as winning the MAC Regular Season and tournament titles. Rounding out the East Division poll was Miami, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State and Akron. For the West Division poll, Ball State, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. The 2012 volleyball season begins this Friday as teams begin non-conference season. The 2012 MAC Volleyball Tournament will be November at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
