2 Sharda University Sports Department Annual Report ( ) We began the year high on the previous year s success and with big goals set for all our Individuals and teams. With huge support from the Chairman and the Head of Sports Department we encouraged our students to travel far and wide and compete in Competitions held by prestigious institutions. TRIALS The session starts with trials conducted during August and September.New players are selected and given a chance to represent the university in their respective games.the players which took part in the trials were from the following schools: School of Engineering and Technology (SET) School of Business Studies (SBS) School of Architecture & Planning (SAP) School of Art, Design and Media Studies (SADMS) School of Law (SOL) School of Languages & Culture (SOLC) School of Dental Sciences (SDS) School of Nursing Sciences and Research (SNSR) School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) School of Medical Sciences & Research (SMSR) School of Basic Sciences and Research (SBSR) School of Education (SOE) School of Pharmacy(SOP) 1. BADMINTON A total of 200 players took part in the trial from all the 13 schools of the university.in the presence of Assistant Director of Sports, the co-ordinator selected the players. Around 25 players were selected for the daily practice and two players in the Sharda University Team namely, BOYS: GIRLS: 1. Harsh Kumar (SBSR) 1. Umang Solanki (SBSR) 2. Md.Kashif Badar (SET) 2. Radhika (SET) Daily Practice Timing: Court:
3 GIRLS: 5-7 PM Block 1 & 3. BOYS: 7-9 PM 2. VOLLEYBALL Many players come to play to recreate and improve their game.a total of 50 players came in the trials from all the different schools of the university.after they have practiced well enough, trials are held to saturate the best among them.the selected players from first year students are namely, 1. Ab Haseib Naikoo (SET) 4. Shubham (SBS) 2. Akash Aman (SET) 5. Md.Kashif Badar (SET) 3. Sahil (SET) Daily Practice Timing: BOYS: 4:30-7:30 PM Ground: Volleyball Court(Near Vivekananda Hostel) 3. BASKETBALL A total of 100 players came in for the trial from all the different schools of the university.the selected players for the university team after a full trial of 2 days are as follows,with their respective schools, 1. Bryan Lalmuanpuia Sailo (SAP) 2. Mozhuli Athili (SET) 3. Kheriebeizolie Keditsu (SOL) Daily Practice Timing: BOYS: 4:30-8:00 PM GIRLS: 5:00-7:00 PM Court: Basketball Court (Near Vivekananda Hostel) 4. FOOTBALL The trials were held for three days and the players were shortlisted and the final list of the players selected for the university team is as follows with their respective schools, 1. 4 3. Alwaaz Rahman (SOL) 6.Hanan Wani (SET) Daily Practice Timing: BOYS: 4:30-7:00 PM Ground: Football Ground (Near Indira Hostel) 5. CRICKET The trials were held in the month of August and it saw mass participation from all the schools of the university.however the selected players are as follows with their respective schools, 1. Prince Yadav (SBS) 5.Anand Mohan (SBS) 2. Harshit Varshney (SBS) 6.Chirag Tyagi (SBSR) 3. Kunal Upadhayay (SBS) 7.Akshay Raj (SET) 4. Md.Nasir Hussain (SET) Daily Practice Timing: BOYS: 4:30-6:30 PM Ground: Cricket Field(Near Mandela Hostel) 6. ATHLETICS A trial was organised by the athletic department of the university in which the students turned out in huge numbers. 6 NORTH ZONE INTER UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIP Sharda University participates in the most prestigious tournament held by AIU as North Zone Inter University Championship.All the sports team of the university participated in this tournament and gave good results.the teams were accompanied by the Asst. Director of Sports and the respective coaches. The details of the tournament of the respective teams according to the order when the teams participated in this tournament : 1. VOLLEYBALL The North Zone Inter University Volleyball(MEN) Championship was held from 13 th 18 th October,2016 at Punjabi University,Patiala(PUNJAB).A total of 48 teams participated in this tournament. The volleyball team lost in their third match against Desh Bhagat University,Mandi giving a very tough fight.the team was as follows captained by Pawan Chaudhary: Pawan Chaudhary Amol Chitransh Abhishek Rathore Sahil Amit Mahar Vivek Singh Nagendra Bandaru
7 Ashish Kumar Manish Kumar Singh Md.Kashif Badar Akash Ab Haseib The first two sets were won by Sharda University losing the next two and losing the decider by a single point. 2. BADMINTON The North Zone Inter University Badminton(M&W) Championship was held from 16 th - 23 rd October at Maharshi Dayanand University,Rohtak (HARYANA). A total of 42 universities teams participated in the tournament.the teams were divided in two pools consisting of 21 teams each,sharda University was in the first pool along with the previous year finalists MDU,Rohtak and the semi finalists Kurukshetra University,Kurukshetra. The team which represented the university in the tournament was captained by Vishal Saurabh(SOL) and under the guidance of Arun Verma Sir(Asst. Director of Sports). The members of the team were as follows-
8 BOYS GIRLS Vishal Saurabh(SOL) Anup Tiwari(SET) Arpit Singhal(SMSR) Aman Raheja(SET) Aman Kumar(SET) Harsh Kumar(SBSR) Md.Kashif Badar(SET) Saumya Singh(SET) Shalu(SET) Umang Solanki(SBSR) Radhika Sharma(SET) The boys team went on to reach the quarter finals of the tournament.in a hard fought quarter final the team lost the deciding match to MDU,Rohtak. The girls team went on to win three rounds of the tournament losing the third round to P.U,Ludhiana.
9 3. BASKETBALL Sharda University Basketball team participated in the Inter University Championship held at the Punjab University, Patiala from 27 th - 31 st January. We hold the record for the Highest Margin win in that tournament. Our team played brilliantly and reached the quarterfinals in which we bowed out to MDU,Rohtak which proved out to be a much better squad in the North Zone. 4. FOOTBALL Sharda University football team went to participate in zonal qualifiers held at Desh Bhagat University, Govindgarh.
10 There in the 1 st match Sharda against very talented Lucknow University played very good football but lost as they conceded in final 30 seconds of the game till then it was 0-0. Sharda University won the respect of most people watching the game as they showed good gestures of true sportsmanship. And a very good thrilling game of 90 minutes 5. CRICKET Our university being in the northern part of India represented north zone. Sharda University had played North Zone Inter University in cricket this Year.The tournament was organized at Chaudhary Charan Singh University,Meerut. University Team Has Played very well and left no stone unturned in North zone Inter University. The Team lost their first match but was appreciated by the officials for the explicit discipline and the effort.
11 AUTUMN FEST In the month of November itself the interbranch competition was held in the autumn fest organized by the collaboration of the cultural and sports society of Sharda university from 13 th -18 th November,2016. The university organised a number of events in all the sports disciplines in which mass participation was seen in all the events. The respective schools participated in the events and the School Of Engineering and Technology (SET) came out as the winner in the sports events. The respective winners in all the events are as follows: BADMINTON(GIRLS) NO. OF PARTICIPANTS: 100 NO. OF MATCHES CONDUCTED: 50 : SINGLES MONICA YADAV (SDS) DOUBLES MONICA YADAV, SHIVANI (SDS) TEAM EVENT SDS (MONICA YADAV, SHIVANI) MIXED DOUBLES VISHAL SAURABH, AKSHITA (SOL) BADMINTON(BOYS) NO. OF PARTICIPANTS: 250 NO. OF MATCHES CONDUCTED: 80 : SINGLES VISHAL SAURABH (SOL)

15 JAVELIN THROW (GIRLS) DEEKSHA CHAUDHARY (SADMS) SHOT PUT (BOYS) DEEPAK (SOL) SHOT PUT (GIRLS) DEEKSHA CHAUDHARY (SADMS) 100 METER DASH (BOYS) DEV LAXMAN (SADMS) 100 METER DASH (GIRLS) HARSHITA (SMSR) KABADDI SNSR BREEZE (SNU) After the completion of the autumn fest the team went to SHIV NADAR UNIVERSITY located in Dadri in Gautam Buddha Nagar where they organized their fest named as BREEZE.All the teams participated in this sports fest.the result were positive for each of the teams. FOOTBALL The university team lost the semi-final match to the Amity University,Haryana in a penalty shootout.
16 VOLLEYBALL The volleyball team lost in the finals of the tournament in the deciding set by IIT-D. BASKETBALL The basketball team went on to win the tournament by defeating the Maharaja Agrasen college by a good margin.
17 BADMINTON The badminton team lost in the semis of the tournament in both the categories.the boys team losing to the M.A College and the girls team lost to the Shiv Nadar University. OTHER PARTICIPATIONS
18 RELIANCE FOUNDATION YOUTH SPORTS The biggest tournament of Delhi, RFYS brought opportunity and a chance to create history for the footballers of Delhi and many other states. Reliance foundation had organised a tournament all over the country to encourage football atcollege level. In Delhi, Sharda University played someawesome and memorable football beating the best in the business in Delhi NCR. In 1 st match, Sharda University beat Jaypee university by 2-1. Sagar and Anupam was again seeing in business scoring for the team group Stages, Sharda university topped their group scoring highest number of goals by any team in Delhi during Reliance tournament in group stages. Sharda University won all its matches in group stages beating IILM by 16-0, Anupam Vishwakarma was named player of
19 the match with his 7 goals and was the biggest trouble for opponents goalkeeper Motilal Nehru college (DU) by 3-1,Sagar Verma and Shivaji college by 7-0.Sagar Verma again was the player of the match with his 3 goals. In knockout stages, Sharda beat IGI college by 2-1, sagar and nabeel the captain scoring in the end minutes of the game. SEMI FINALS- Unfortunately after playing the best football Sharda University lost to Stephen College in penalty Shootouts even after dominating the whole game. Most of the coaches applauded Sharda University team s efforts and regarded them the potential winners but losing is a part of learning. And the team got to know where they lacked. FOOTBALL Spradha 2017 Sharda university was all set to perform and in the very first miute of the match they scored and the match ended up at 4-0 Sagar Verma opening the account and Kshitij Yadav scoring with a volley and the captain closing the goals account by scoring 2 goals in his comeback match.the duration of matches were short in the coming matches which didn t allowed sharda to score against dtu and the match went to penalties and sharda winningfrom 5-3.SHARDA was ready to face arsd in there semi final match of the tournament which they won by 2-0 and reached finals.
20 Finals was with pgdav who was playing good football throughout the tournament the strikers failed to finish and the match went for penalties the and the match went away as we lost to pgdav by 3-1. and ended up as runners up. BASKETBALL In November 2016, Sharda University participated again in the Inter University Sports Meet organized by Asian Business School, Noida at the famous Jasola Sports Complex. Basketball won their respective competitions with great display of individual brilliance and team play. Another tournament was held here by NDIM, New Delhi in January first week which was also captured by Sharda. BADMINTON The Badminton team won in both the categories boys and girls of the spardha 2017.The boys team of Aman Raheja and Vishal Saurabh won the doubles event.
21 In the girls category,umang Solanki won the singles title and the doubles title as well with Shalu.In the singles category Radhika of sharda was the runner up. JAYPEE JIIT FEST And recently in the month of February Jaypee JIIT organised their sports fest. The basketball team defeated every team in the competition with much ease the only tough one coming
22 against Amity. The team again played its full and it was a fun one after our bitter loss in the nationals. We experimented with the squad a little more this time but the results were amazing as ever. GL BAJAJ JABONG TURF WAR Jabong Turf War enthralled the audience with live performances by the rock band Swarrveda and award-winning DJ Varun Dayal. The event was hosted by MTV VJs Benafsha & Clince. Final Match of the girls Team was with the home Team itself and they Played well under the captaincy of Sanjana and won the final and lift the trophy at AIIMS.
