The Lobos were one of four Mountain West teams to earn berths, along with Colorado State (hosting Western Illinois), Wyoming (hosting State) and UNLV (at Utah). All four Mountain West schools are on the same side of the bracket, with UNM and Colorado State as potential quarterfinal foes, and UNLV and Wyoming potential third round foes. Ironically, head coach Mike Bradbury s former school, Wright State, is a possible quarterfinal opponent as well. The winner of the UNM/Saint Mary s game will take on the winner of Rice (22-9)/Texas State (23-9) women s basketball 1

The third quarter came out of nowhere, because for the opening first two, the Lobos looked unstoppable. UNM led pretty much the entire first half, with UNM limited Wyoming to just 29.2% shooting over the first 20 minutes. UNM took the lead midway through the opening quarter on a Jaisa Nunn layup at 8-6, and kept it throughout the rest of the half. Another Nunn basket to open the second quarter and a three-pointer by Madi Washington made it Nunn nearly had a double-double in the first half with 11 points and eight rebounds. Nunn s three-point play with 2:32 to go gave UNM a lead. Wyoming hit the last basket of the half to make it at the break. I thought we played well, especially in the first half, said head coach Mike Bradbury. Defensively we were sound and most importantly we were plus-five in rebounding. That was a big reason we had the lead, but in the second half we got beat up on the boards. Coming out of the break, UNM couldn t hit a shot, going 1-for-14. Counting the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the fourth, the Lobos went just 1-for-17 from the field as the score went from Lobos to Wyoming. UNM stayed within range by hitting its free throws, and N Dea Flye gave UNM the lead back at the 8:33 mark of the fourth 45-43, but Wyoming quickly tied it, and a pair of Natalie Baker free throws with 7:34 to go gave Wyoming the lead for good. Eventually it pushed the lead to six at with 1:32 to go on a three-pointer by Taylor Rusk, but UNM wouldn t go down without a fight. Flye hit two free throws to make it and after a Wyoming miss, Washington scored with 29.5 left to make it Wyoming then hit four free throws sandwiched around a Washington basket, making it Wyoming. Cherise Beynon, who struggled from the field going 2-for-14, drained a long three with 5.4 to go to cut the lead to 67-66, and UNM quickly fouled with 3.3 to go. After Wyoming hit both free throws, UNM called its final timeout to advance the ball to the front court and set up a final shot. After Wyoming also used a timeout, UNM inbounded to Buck, who took one dribble and let a 24-footer fly. Her shot was right on line, but too long and Wyoming escaped with the win. The loss knocked UNM to on the season, but while UNM s NCAA hopes were dashed, the postseason still should beckon for UNM, as the Lobos have a solid shot at a WNIT berth. The Lobos entered the game with an RPI of 82, and Wyoming s was 74. UNM s postseason fate will be announced the night on Monday, March 12. Bradbury addressed the opportunity to continue playing. This is the most wins we ve had at in a decade. We ll play in the NIT next week. They haven t been to an NIT in a decade. It s not disappointing. I m disappointed right this second because we didn t win. Just Saying... The Lobos went 11-7 vs. postseason tournament teams in , meaning UNM played more than half of its contests against postseason teams, including six of UNM s 11 Division I non-conference opponents UNM went 2-2 vs. NCAA Tournament teams (1-0 vs. Marquette, 1-1 vs. Boise State, 0-1 vs. Oklahoma), 6-5 vs. WNIT teams (2-0 vs. Mew Mexico State, 2-0 vs. Colorado State, 1-0 vs. Navy, 1-0 vs. Lamar, 0-2 vs. UNLV, 0-3 vs. Wyoming) and 3-0 vs. WBI teams (2-0 vs. Fresno State, 1-0 vs. Nevada) lobos set season 3-point records The Lobos have hit 3-pointers at a rate no other UNM team has in program history as they ve hit a program-record 294 this season, breaking the old record of 223 set in ), including hitting 145 during conference play - also a Lobo record.

3 new mexico game notes Three Lobos Nab Postseason Honors Tesha Buck was named the Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, Cherise Beynon earned a third straight All-Mountain West nod and second straight All-MW Defensive Team nod, and Jaisa Nunn picked up her first career postseason honor as Mountain West officials announced the All-Conference teams. Buck is third on the squad in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game. She has scored 473 points on the season (giving her 1,476 in her collegiate career), and she broke the UNM record for three-pointers in a season with 95 triples, including a UNM and Mountain West record 10 against Lamar on December 20. She owns a 40-point game, which she accomplished against Lamar, that at one time was the UNM single-game scoring record. She also netted 30 in the regular season finale against Fresno State. Buck overall is the team leader in minutes played with 1,096, and she is shooting.380 from three,.821 from the line and she is also averaging 4.8 rebounds per game and she has handed out 105 assists. Buck s honor marked the second straight season that a Lobo was named the Mountain West s top newcomer, joining Richelle van der Keijl. Overall, she is the fifth Lobo to earn Newcomer of the Year honors, joining Jordan Adams ( ), Mandi Moore ( ) and Dionne Marsh ( ). That 40-point night by Buck was only a school record for a few weeks, because Cherise Beynon topped that with 41 against San Diego State. That game helped push her to a third consecutive All-Mountain West selection, becoming the first Lobo to accomplish that since Amy Beggin from Beynon is second on the team with 534 points, the fourth-most points in a single season in UNM history, and she is second on the team in scoring average with a 16.2 average, good for third in the Mountain West. She also leads the Mountain West with 6.9 assists per game, and her 229 is a Lobo single-season record. Beynon, who ranks in the top five in career points, career rebounds, career assists, career field goals, career three-pointers and career minutes, was also named to the Mountain West s All-Defensive Team for a second straight season. Beynon is averaging 5.7 rebounds per game and has a team-leading 70 steals on the season, good for second in the league. She has even added 12 blocks. Also earning All-Mountain West honors was Jaisa Nunn, who picked up her first career postseason honor. Nunn is second in the lead in scoring at 16.8 points per game, and her 10.3 rebounds per game leads the Mountain West as she is the only player in the league that is averaging a double-double. Over the 33-game season (one of which she missed), Nunn has recorded 18 double-doubles. She also scored 39 points, including a winning three-point play with just 2.1 seconds left in a 1-point win over No. 24 Marquette. Those 39 points were a Lobo single-game record until Buck scored 40 a month later. Starters and Records (in order of appearance) Beynon, Buck, Flye, Lapeyrolerie, Nunn Beynon, Bryan, Buck, Lapeyrolerie, Nunn Anderson, Beynon, Buck, Flye, Lapeyrolerie Beynon, Buck, Lapeyrolerie, Nunn, Smith Beynon, Bryan, Buck, Flye, Nunn Nunn s.622 field goal percentage should easily break the UNM single-season record, and it leads the Mountain West as well. Nunn has 517 points on the season, becoming the 10th player to break the 500-point mark in a single season. UNM SETS total points record The Lobos are officially the best offensive in school history. The Lobos scored 54 points against Colorado State, giving the program 2,403 points on the season. The previous mark was 2,398 points that was set by the team and the team. The irony is the record was set in a win over Colorado State, UNM s lowest point total of the season. UNM is now up to 2,646 points on the season after scoring 66 against Wyoming. Double-Digit Issues... No Problem The Lobos have found themselves down by double digits in eight games this year, and amazingly enough, UNM is 3-5 in those games. Here are the three wins, including UNM s biggest comeback, a 17-point comeback against Fresno State. Marquette trailed by 12 won Nevada trailed by 12 won Fresno State trailed by 17 won (OT) BEYNON Breaks Single-season assist record UNM senior Cherise Beynon broke Mandi Moore s record of 212 assists (set in ) when she recorded 11 against Fresno State in the regular season finale. She now has 229 assists on the season after 7 against Wyoming. Buck sets unm single-season 3-point record Lobo senior Tesha Buck with her two 3-pointers against Wyoming on Feb. 21 set the UNM single-season 3-point record with 83 - passing Abby Garchek s record of 82 set during the season. She currently has 95 on the season. Lobos reach 20 wins for second time since... UNM s victory over Utah State on Feb. 14 was the Lobos 20th win this season, the second time UNM has reached that mark since winning 25 games during the season and the 13th time in program history. For second-year Lobo coach Mike Bradbury, it s the seventh time he s reached 20 wins in 11 seasons as a collegiate head coach. The 23 wins is tied for the seventh-most in school history Mountain west standings (As of March 9) School Conf. % Overall % Boise State UNLV Wyoming Fresno State Colorado State Nevada Air Force Utah State San Diego State San Jose State women s basketball 3

4 new mexico game notes Plenty of 30-point performers in The Lobos entering the season had a total of point performances in its history. This season? UNM has racked up eight for the campaign - including the first two 40-point performances in program history (Cherise Beynon had 41, Tesha Buck had 40). Beynon and Jaisa Nunn each have three 30-plus point games while Buck has two after scoring 30 against Fresno State in the regular season finale. beynon climbing 3-point unm ranks Cherise Beynon and Alex Lapeyrolerie are both sitting in the UNM all-time top 10 when it comes to 3-pointers as Beynon is fourth with 180 while Lapeyrolerie - who is now out for the season due to injury - is ninth with 127. Katie Montgomery ( ) owns the UNM all-time record with 221. albuquerque is a hoops town - lobos 16th in attendance The Lobos have long had a great home-court advantage and much of that comes from a great fan base that has UNM 16th in the NCAA in women s basketball attendance at 5,124 per game, just don t tell Arry-lay Arker-bay about it. beynon first to reach 1, club Cherise Beynon with her 41 points against San Diego State on Jan. 20 became the first UNM basketball player - male or female - to reach the 1,500-point, 500-rebound and 500-assist mark as the senior now has 1,703 points, 763 rebounds and 599 assists. Mandi Moore was the first to reach the 1,000, 500 and 500 club as she finished her career with 1,057 points, 603 rebounds and 651 assists for the Lobos from a double-double machine UNM s Jaisa Nunn with her 20 points and 14 rebounds against Wyoming on March 6 racked up her 18th double-double - ranking eight in the NCAA, tops in the Mountain West. Lobos lighting up scoreboard UNM is 33 games into the season and hasn t slowed down in putting up big numbers offensively as the Lobos are 19th in the nation and lead the Mountain West in scoring at 80.2 points per game. record performance for beynon Though the Lobos lost at San Diego State on Jan. 20, it wasn t because of a lack of production from senior Cherise Beynon. The Las Vegas, Nevada, native poured in a school-record 41 points while adding eight assists, five rebounds and four steals and no turnovers in 40 minutes. It s tied for the fourth-most points scored in a game in Mountain West history while she also set a MW and UNM record for field goals made with 17. It s the third time this season a Lobo has broken the school record for scoring Jaisa Nunn did it against Marquette with 39 points and Tesha Buck scored 40 against Lamar. It s the third time in Beynon s career she s scored 30-plus points. Beynon climbing career UNM charts in... almost everything Cherise Beynon s first three seasons as a Lobo have been spectacular to say the least and the do-it-all guard will continue to climb the Lobo all-time lists this season. The Las Vegas, Nevada, native is in the career top 10 in points (1,703 - fourth, 95 away from third), field goals made (638 - fourth, two away from third), field goals attempted (1,776 - first), 3-pointers made (180 - fourth, six away from third), 3-pointers attempted (615 - first), assists (599 - second, 50 away from first), steals (246 - second), rebounding (763 - fourth, 37 away from third) and minutes played (3,881 - fourth). Double 500 Club? Cherise Beynon has 534 points this season and Jaisa Nunn has 537. They are the first tandem to ever score 500 in the same season in Lobo history. Currently Nunn s total ranks as the third-most in a single season, and Beynon s total is tied for fourth. The closest UNM ever came to dual 500-point scorers was in when Julie Brody scored 509 and Dionne Marsh scored 485. no team started better in unm history The Lobos with their win over Texas Tech on Dec. 6, set a new record for most wins to start the season at 10, bettering the team that started 9-0 (that team finished 18-10). The overtime victory over Navy on Dec. 10 tied another Lobo record as it tied the program s mark for most consecutive victories at 11 - something it did in the and the season. With UNM s victory over Lamar on Dec. 20, it also set the Lobo record for best start to a season with only one loss at breaking the record of 11-1 set during the season. buck hunts down UNM, mw 3-pt records Tesha Buck had a performance for the ages against Lamar on Dec. 20 as she set a then-unm record (Cherise Beynon scored 41 against San Diego State on Jan. 20) with 40 points to go along with UNM and Mountain West records for 3-pointers made with 10. She s was just the seventh player in Mountain West history (started ) to reach the 40-point mark in a game while she is the only to reach 10 3-pointers in a game. It was the 58th time a player has hit 10 3-pointers in a game in NCAA Division I women s basketball history. Overall, Buck went 15-for-21 from the field and 10-for-16 from 3-point range - including hitting her first five 3-pointers (all in the first quarter as she had 17 points in the opening period). 4

5 new mexico game notes Overtime...After six seasons? has two overtime wins, a victory over Navy in overtime on Dec. 10 (which was the program s first victory in overtime since beating Air Force on March 5, 2011) and a win in the regular season finale against Fresno State. That s two more wins than UNM had in the previous six seasons. From the season to the start of this season, which covers six seasons, UNM played just two overtimes, losing both. Overall UNM is 2-1 in overtime this season, playing more OTs this season than in the previous six. UNM wraps up undefeated november UNM wrapped up a perfect opening month of the season after defeating UTEP in its first road of the season, 59-35, on Nov. 30. The Lobos finished the month outscoring their opponents by an average of 19.3 points per game ( ) and had a turnover margin of plus 7.0 per game for the month. They also and twice as good a turnover-to-assist ratio as their opponents (1.6 to 0.8). Lobos win UNM Thanksgiving Tournament, Buck named mvp For the first time since 2008, the Lobos won their own Thanksgiving Tournament by beating Wichita State, UC Irvine and Illinois - winning each game by double figures and two of the games by 20-plus. Tesha Buck was named the tournament s MVP while she was joined on the all-tournament team with Jaisa Nunn and Alex Lapeyrolerie. bradbury gets win No. 200 UNM coach Mike Bradbury has had a successful 10-plus seasons as a head coach and now he s hit win No. 200 in just his 11th season when the Lobos defeated Illinois on Nov. 26. The second-year Lobo coach averaged 19.3 victories per season in his first 10 years as a head coach. lobos make it 3-for-3, buck named mw player of week For the third week in a row with a third different player, the University of women s basketball program has earned the Mountain West Player of the Week honor as Tesha Buck s stellar and steady performance while guiding the Lobos to the UNM Thanksgiving Tournament title was honored Monday by the conference. Buck averaged 17.3 points, 5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in helping the Lobos to three convincing victories. Along with her averages, the senior shot 50 percent (12-for-24) from 3-point range during the tournament. Buck joins Cherise Beynon (first week) and Jaisa Nunn (second week) in earning Mountain West Player of the Week honors this season, marking the first time since the season the Mountain West has awarded the same school three straight weeks (was also to three different players). It s the first time the Lobos have ever won the award three straight weeks and is the first time since the season the program has had three honors in the same season as well as three different players win the award in the same season. NUNN named Mountain West player of the week A near flawless and Lobo-record performance by Jaisa Nunn that helped The University of women s basketball team defeat a ranked opponent highlighted a week that saw the junior average 17.7 points and 10.7 rebounds and be selected the Mountain West Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 20. Nunn broke a 35-year-old scoring record by piling up 39 points (the old record was 35 set by Yvonne McKinnon in 1979) and adding 13 rebounds in the Lobos victory over No. 16 Marquette on Nov. 13 at Dreamstyle Arena including converting on a threepoint play with 1.8 seconds remaining to give UNM the victory. The Kirkland, Wash., native was 14-for-15 from the field and 11-for-12 from the freethrow line while committing no turnovers in 34 minutes of play. record scoring night for the lobos The Lobos broke a 38-year-old scoring record Wednesday, Nov. 15, when they defeated Northern breaking the old record set March 3, 1979, when UNM defeated Northern Arizona It s the first time the Lobos have reached 100 points in a game since beating Morgan State on Jan. 4, WASHINGTON NEARLY SETS RECORD OFF BENCH VS. nnmc UNM freshman Madi Washington came off the bench against Northern and scored 27 points during the Lobos win Wednesday, Nov tied for the second-most points off the bench and tied for the sixth-most points for a freshman in UNM history.
