LAST TIME AGAINST CLEMSON The Tigers and Jackets split a pair of matches last season. Georgia Tech s sweep of Clemson on the Tigers home court inside Jervey Gym on Sept. 25 was the Yellow Jackets first win on the road at Clemson since a 3-2 victory on Nov. 27, The Tigers evened the season with a 3-1 win in Atlanta. SERIES AGAINST VIRGINIA The Cavaliers enter Friday leading Georgia Tech in just one category and that s blocking. The Jackets are looking for their first win to snap a four-match losing streak against UVA. Tech s last win against the Cavaliers was a 3-0 victory on Oct. 6, 2012 in Atlanta. KILLIN IT Teegan Van Gunst leads the team with 234 kills. She is 3rd in the ACC in kills/set (3.97). She s tallied double-digit kills in all 16 matches this season, except for two, including the last nine straight matches. DIG IT The Jackets back row defense is on point so far this season. Tech is No. 10 in the nation in digs per set (17.22). Tech leads the ACC in total digs (1033) and is second in digs per set (17.22). Senior libero London Ackermann leads the league in total digs (290) and is second in digs/set (4.83). She needs just 46 digs (1,548) to top the all-time leader at Tech - Jenn Beemsterboer ( ; 1,594 digs). OPENING ACC PLAY The Jackets split a pair of matches to open ACC play on the road, falling at Pitt, 3-1, before defeating Virginia Tech, 3-1. Tech is in ACC openers. The Jackets have opened ACC play on the road 18 times dating back to Georgia Tech is 8-10 when opening ACC play on the road. COMBY NAMED ACC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Freshman Kodie Comby was named the ACC Freshman of the Week after a stellar performance at the Georgia Challenge. Against Georgia, Comby tallied eight kills and a.400 hitting percentage with three blocks. Comby had a season-high 12 kills against Kennesaw State and hit.474 on the weekend with 22 kills and six blocks. GEORGIA CHALLENGE RECAP Teegan Van Gunst was named tournament MVP, while Kodie Comby and Gabi Stavnetchei were named to the all-tournament team. Teegan Van Gunst eclipsed her 1,000th career dig against Georgia. Tech won the tournament for the second consecutive year. The Jackets handed Georgia its first loss of the season. K-STATE RECAP London Ackermann was named to the all-tournament team. Gabi Stavnetchei had a break out tournament with 37 kills and 31 digs in the span of the tournament. Against K-State she put up career numbers in kills (16) and digs (19) and her first career double-double. WAR EAGLE RECAP The Yellow Jackets started the season 3-0 for the first time since London Ackermann was named MVP of the tournament after putting up 61 digs (5.55/set). Teegan Van Gunst and Annika Van Gunst were also named to the all-tournament team. The tour stretched from May 6 17, and Tech played eight matches against Brazilian under-21 club teams, going an undefeated 8-0. TEEGAN VAN GUNST PLAYS WITH US COLLEGIATE TEAM Georgia Tech volleyball senior Teegan Van Gunst traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. June to train and compete as part of the U.S. Collegiate National Team Indianapolis program. Van Gunst played for the red team on the same side of the net with other ACC foes - middle blockers Tess Clark (Louisville) and Jenna Potts (Pittsburgh).
