One is to help the students stay physically fit and healthy and the other is to help the students to have better understanding, better coordination and lead a meaningful life. The efforts of the faculty of Physical Education are laudable as our students have brought many laurels to the Institution by winning a number of competitions. 10 State Level participation Five of Women Handball players were selected to participate in the Tamilnadu Inter District Handball Tournament held at Thiruttani from to TIES 14 Achievements Our women Hand ball team has secured III position in the 32 nd TIES 14 held at Kongunadu Engineering College Thottiyam. This is the first trophy as the team achieved in the TIES. Chess Women team won 7 matches, one draw and 2 lost in TIES 14 tournament. Chess Men team won 5 matches, 2 draw and 2 lost in TIES 14 tournament. D.Sankarlal of IV Mech, Secured III position in the 65 kg Weight lifting category in TIES 14. S.Maniraj of II Auto, Secured III position in the High jump event in TIES 14 with the performance of 1.80 meter. G.Aswini of III Pharma, secured IV Position in the 5 km walk event in TIES 14. Outstation Tournaments Our BIT Campus participated out station tournament and Won 10 Trophies, (4-Winners, 3-Runner up and 3 Third places with 7 individual medals). Sastra University Tournament: Hand ball Men team secured III position at Sastra University Tournament. Muruganantham from II year Mech, secured Gold medal in Best Physique 60 to 65 Kg cat. Syed salik from IV Civil, secured Silver medal in Best Physique 65 to 70 Kg cat. Shankarlal from IV year Mech, secured Bronze medal in Best Physique 55 to 60 Kg cat. Intramural sports Department of Physical Education organized intramural sports for our college students. The first meeting of Inter-Department sports was held on 7 th January p.m at syndicate hall. The Inter-Department tournament date was scheduled from 21 st January The department conducted 14 th sports and games respectively Ball Badminton, Chess, Handball, T.T, Football, Kho-Kho, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Hockey, Volleyball and Athletics for men section and 15 sports and games Ball Badminton, Chess, Tennikoit, Handball, T.T, Football, Kho-Kho, Throw ball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Athletics for women section. The Inter-Department sports started with Ball Badminton men & women and ended with Athletics men & women. Almost 2000 students participated in the Intramural sports men 1100 and women 900. It conducted sports and games for the staff members of AU- BIT campus, also. Sports Day AU- BIT campus grandly celebrated Sports Day on 20 th march The Chief Guest Mr. Nizamudheen, former International Athlete honored us by his inspiring speech by distributing prizes. He distributed 534 medals for the men section and 447 medals for the women section and 29 trophies for the students. March - past was also organized in the grand manner. Almost 450 contingents participated in the march-past including 390 students, 30 NCC contingents and 30 Police Band troop. 12
