1 2300 VOLLEYBALL (BOYS) 2310 Dates 2311 Earliest day for practice - August 20, Earliest day for first meet August 28, WIAA - Regionals October 26, WIAA - Sectionals October 30 & November 1, WIAA - State - November 9 & 10, Conference Coaches Meeting Monday, October 22, 2018 at Divine Savior Holy Angels at 6:30 PM Regulations/Schedules 2321 Volleyball shall be governed by The National Federation of State High School Associations rules, with Wisconsin adaptations, as well as WIAA rules and regulations The ball recommended for play shall be an eighteen panel colored NFHS approved ball. The HOST school will provide all properly inflated balls for pre-game warm-ups The HOST school shall report match results from ALL LEVELS to Divine Savior Holy Angels by phone (414) extension 2809, seegers-braun01@dsha.k12.wi.us, or fax (414) by the morning following the match HOST school is responsible for contacting the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel at (414) or at prepsplus@journalsentinel.com immediately following the match Athletic Directors will provide rosters with all three teams on one page to each school prior to the first Conference match Levels of play will be Freshmen, JV, and Varsity. Once rosters are set, a player may move up a level or levels for Conference or Tournament play, but may not move down for Conference play or the Conference Tournaments. 2 2327 All volleyball schedules shall be drawn by the Athletic Director in charge of Volleyball and approved by the Athletic Directors The JV and Varsity Conference Tournaments shall be run at facilities with 4 courts. The Freshman Tournament will be held at facilities with two courts. Teams with four courts: Brookfield Central, Brookfield East, Germantown (in 2019) Contest Guidelines Year Varsity-4 courts JV-4 courts Freshman 2016 Brookfield Central Brookfield East 2017 Brookfield Central Marquette 2018 Brookfield East Brookfield Central Wauwatosa West 2019 Brookfield Central Germantown Wauwatosa East 2331 All Freshmen/JV matches will begin at 5:30 PM. If Marquette is hosting two freshman games, they will both be played at 4:00 PM followed by the JV at 5:30 PM. All Varsity matches will begin at 7:00 PM Freshmen and JV matches will be played simultaneously prior to the Varsity match Freshmen and JV will play two out of three sets (rally scoring), with the winner of 2 of the 3 sets determining the winner of the match. All sets will be played to 25 points with a guaranteed third game. Varsity will play three out of five sets (rally scoring) to 25 points to determine the match winner. Prior to the coin flip before the match, both coaches will decide together if they will play a fourth set if the match is won in three sets. If one coach decides he/she would like to play the nondetermining set, it will be played to 15 points with a 17 point cap. If both agree not to play it at the coin flip, it will not be played There will be a minimum twenty-minute warm-up period prior to each match. Warm-up procedures will be six (6) minutes of shared ball handling, seven (7) minutes of home team alone on court, seven (7) minutes of visitors alone on court An adult or qualified student shall be the official scorer for each Conference match at all levels. The visiting team scorer may also be present at the score table Awards 2341 Conference standings will be decided on the basis of match play. One point will be awarded for each match victory. 3 wins at the end of the regular season will be declared the Conference dual meet champion In the event of a tie, the championship will be shared. Each team will receive an award A Conference Championship bars and individual awards shall be made in accordance with the Award By-Laws (470). The Conference will award one (1) Championship bar to the Dual meet Champions and fifteen (15) team certificates, one (1) Championship bar to the Conference Tournament Champions and fifteen (15) team certificates All-Conference Selection All-Conference awards will include eight (8) gold and eight (8) silver medals and one (1) Athlete of the Year plaque. Players receiving Honorable Mention will receive a certificate All-Conference selection will take place the night of the Conference Volleyball meeting at the end of the season Coaches will nominate players from their team worthy of First Team selection. Each coach will provide CONFERENCE statistics for each player nominated, as well as a picture for identification. Each coach will speak about each player nominated A secret ballot will be taken from the list of nominated players. Coaches may not vote for their own players. Each coach will vote for seven (7) players (unless the coaches choose to vote a first and second team libero separately if this is the case, they will vote for 7 players) The eight (8) players receiving the highest number of votes will constitute the First Team All-Conference. In case of a tie, another secret ballot will be cast between players involved in the tie. Coaches may not vote for their own players. The loser of the tie will automatically be placed on the Second team Coaches will nominate any other players they feel deserve All-Conference honors. Conference statistics and photo should be available for each individual nominee A secret ballot will be taken from the list to fill out the remaining positions for the eight (8) positions on the Second Team. 4 2357 A player must receive at least one vote to be considered for Honorable Mention. Upon completion of the voting for All-Conference, a coach may appeal to have one more vote taken with regard to a player who was already nominated, but did not receive a vote for Honorable Mention. The player may be placed on Honorable Mention if he receives at least 2 votes. A coach may not vote for his/her own player Player of the Year will be vote on my the coaches from the players receiving First Team All-Conference selection. Coaches may not vote for their own players. Coaches will have three tries to break ties for Player of the Year. If they are unable to break the tie, the Athletic Directors will break the tie and determine the Player of the Year. Updated 06/27/2018 Page 4 of 5

5 FRESHMEN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT FORMAT 1. Each team will be required to provide two workers for both the Freshmen and JV Conference Tournaments. One of the workers will be designated to line judge and one of the workers will be designated to keep score. Both workers must be available to work the entire tournament for as long as your team is playing. Both workers will work only on the court on which your team is playing, and only for your games. 2. Six Team Tournament: The Conference Tournament will be seeded into two pools 1, 4 & 5 in one pool and 2, 3 & 6 in the other pool. Pool play will consist of two games to 25. The top two teams will cross over and play a 2 out of 3 match to 25 (third game to 15) and then the two third place teams will play a 2 out of 3 match to 25 (third game to 15) to determine 5 th and 6 th place. Following that match, the winners from crossovers will play the championship match 2 out of 3 to 25 (third game to 15) for the first and second while the two losers of crossovers will play for 3 rd and 4 th 2 out of 3 to 25 (third game to 15). 3. If the six team format is used on two courts, instead of each school providing workers, the off team will provide scorers and line judges. This will be up to the host school to communicate when they provide information on the tournament. 4. If the Freshman Tournament only has four conference teams competing, it will be run as a quad. The format will be 2 out of 3 match play to 25 with a third game to 25 if necessary. The winner will be the team with the best record. 5. Team Tournament Information: If a 5 team tournament is used, a round robin tournament will be played and teams will play the best of three games to 25 poins. No cap.
