2 Today s presenters Oliver Gajda is a Senior Transportation Planner within the Livable Streets Subdivision of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) During his 13 years with the San Francisco Municipal SFMTA, he has directly managed both the City s Bicycle Program and Pedestrian Program Previously, he was the Pedestrian and Bicycle Coordinator for the City of Asheville (NC) and the Asheville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Within San Francisco, all onstreet bicycle and pedestrian improvements are within SFMTA s implementation purview Dana Weissman is a Transportation Planner/Engineer with Fehr & Peers in the San Francisco office Dana has experience on a wide range of multimodal projects throughout the Bay Area, and her particular interest lies in pedestrian and bicycle planning, safety, and research Dana led the technical analysis for SFMTA s WalkFirst efforts, which provided the foundation for San Francisco s Vision Zero campaign Dana recently applied the methodology that she helped develop for WalkFirst to another San Francisco prioritization project, working with the city to identify the highest need locations for streetscape capital improvements The paper that Dana co authored on the WalkFirst approach to prioritizing and defining pedestrian safety capital improvement projects won the 2015 TRB Pedestrian Committee Best Paper Award Through Vision Zero SF we commit to working together to prioritize street safety and eliminate traffic deaths in San Francisco by 2024 : ELIMINATING TRAFFIC DEATHS BY 2024 Presentation Outline San Francisco Vision Zero: Context and History WalkFirst: Prioritizing Pedestrian Safety Projects in Support of Vision Zero 2
