1 PROJECT OVERVIEW Station Access Improvements Project Voters approved improvements to the Sounder Station in 2008 as part of the ballot measure to expand mass transit throughout the region The Sound Transit Board restored funding for the Station Access Improvements Project in 2016; funding was suspended in 2010 as a result of the economic recession Potential station access improvements include a parking garage and pedestrian, transit, and bicycle improvements Improving easy and reliable access to the station will be necessary as ridership and service increases Average daily ridership on the south Sounder line is expected to increase approximately 70% by 2035 Placeholder

2 PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT PROCESS Round 1: Project introduction January February 2017 Sound Transit will work with the Technical Advisory Committee Mayor/City Council Stakeholders Public City of, elected officials, a group of stakeholders, regional Objective Introduce project, goals and criteria, and identify potential sites partners, and the community to evaluate and identify a preferred package of access improvements by late Round 2: Evaluate improvement packages March April 2017 Technical TAC Advisory Committee Stakeholders Public City Council Objective Review initial screening results for improvement packages and gather feedback to identify top alternatives Round 3: Preferred alternative identification May August 2017 Technical Advisory Committee Mayor/City Council Public & Stakeholders Sound Transit Board identifies preferred alternative Objective Gather feedback on top alternatives to inform Sound Transit Board identification of preferred alternative Date updated: 1/20/17

5 PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES ACCESS Improve access to transit at the station ENVIRONMENT Advance environmental/ sustainability goals of Sound Transit and the community OBJECTIVES Provide multiple reliable access options to serve commute periods and throughout the day Increase transit ridership OBJECTIVES Promote a healthy and sustainable environment Encourage access to Sounder via all modes of travel Maximize comfort and convenience for riders IMPLEMENTATION CONSISTENCY & COMPATIBILITY Improvements can be implemented in a timely Support regional and manner community goals OBJECTIVES Parking improvements are constructible within project schedule Non-garage improvements can be implemented within a shorter timeframe OBJECTIVES Support goals, policies, and plans of transit agencies and local governments Support urban design principles and further economic development / support and attract businesses and residents Is cost-effective and financially sustainable Benefit the local community Minimize community impacts during construction
