1 Mid Rivers Mall Drive Multi-Use Path (Rte. N to MO 364) Sponsor St Peters Project No. RB Project Type Other TOTAL FUNDING Total County Sponsor Federal $1,177, $238, $59, $879, Project Description The project will include the construction of a 10 feet wide multi-use path along the east side of Mid Rivers Mall Drive from Route N to MO 364 (end at MoDOT right of way). The project also includes the construction of a northbound right turn lane at the Home Depot Plaza signalized intersection which will be funded by the City of St. Peters. The current sidewalk on the east side of the roadway is 6 feet wide but does not meet current ADA standards. The current bike path on the west side of the roadway consists of a separated 8 feet wide path for 300 feet but utilizes the 8 feet wide shoulder for the remaining 950 feet of this section. The existing multiuse path holds water and dirt/debris builds up quickly creating hazardous conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians. The proposed multi-use path improvements are consistent with the Gateway Bike Plan adopted by the City of St. Peters as well as the City of St. Peters ADA Transition Plan. The path will connect to Cottleville's path along the north side of Route N that was recently installed and their funded sidewalk improvement project along the south side of Route N on the north end of the project limits. It will connect on the south end of the project limits to the existing path across the MO 364 interchange that will have a future connection to St. Charles County's Veterans Tribute Park. The project will also provide a link between MO 364 and the City's ongoing Mid Rivers Mall Drive Multi-Use Path (Dye Club Rd to Cottleville Pkwy) TAP 7305(616) project, which connects to the Dardenne Greenway that extends across the St. Charles Community College campus north through the City's Woodlands Sports Park, ending at Mexico Road. The project will install a right turn lane for northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive at the Home Depot Plaza signalized intersection. No Federal funds are being requested for this portion of the project. Many vehicles currently utilize the shoulder to get around through vehicles waiting for a green indication at the signal. The existing shoulder is a mixture of asphalt and concrete of varying depth. It was not constructed to withstand the traffic volumes that it is experiencing. Installing a right turn bay will reduce congestion and increase safety at the signalized intersection.
