The traffic awareness function and Cultural evening was inaugurated by Advisor to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh today i.e. on as a part of opening ceremony. On , Road Safety Workshop for School Bus Drivers/CTU Bus Drivers/conductors was held at Auditorium Traffic & Security Lines, Sector-29B, Chandigarh to aware them about traffic rules and regulations. traffic awareness function and renovated Children Traffic Park was inaugurated by IGP/UT Chandigarh at Children Traffic Park Sector 23, Chandigarh in association with the Honda Motorcycles & Scooter, India. 2. Traffic Chandigarh Traffic Police organized Ulta Pulta Traffic Safety Function in memory of Late Sh. Jaspal Bhatti, Brand Ambassador, at Chitkara School Auditorium, Sector 25, Chandigarh. Artist Sunil Grover, (Guthi of Comedy Nights) gave special performance on this occasion. Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Sukhchain Singh, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Maneesh Chaudhry, IPS, SSP Traffic & Sec. along with other officer were present on the occasion In view of prohibition on plying of Diesel Three-wheelers (Auto Rikshaw) in the territory of U.T, Chandigarh by State Transport Authority. As on Chandigarh Traffic Police initiated a special drive against the Diesel Three-wheelers (Auto Rikshaw) roaming in the city without any permit. During the drive, 35 number of Three-wheelers impounded on and 53 number of Threewheelers impounded on upto 3.00 PM and drive against plying of Diesel Three-wheelers (Auto Rikshaw) is still continue. Further, during the special drive against drunken driving as on drunken driving nakas were laid in the various parts of city and 52 numbers of vehicles were impounded for drunken driving On last day of Road Safety Week Time for Action a free Eye check-up camp was organized in Traffic Police Lines, Sector-29, Chandigarh by Charitable Eye Hospital Sohana, Distt. Mohali, Punjab for Traffic Staff of Chandigarh Police, CTU Bus Drivers & Auto Rickshaw Drivers. Total 108 CTU Bus Drivers & Auto Rickshaw Drivers took part in this Medical Check-up Camp. Apart from this, a Meditation Camp was also organized by Brahma Kumari Ashram, Sector-33, Chandigarh. Literature and CD s for awareness on Road Safety were also distributed by Chandigarh Traffic Police On 6th day of traffic week a Cricket Match played between Chandigarh Police v/s Press Club Chandigarh was held at Police Lines Sector-26 Chandigarh. Sh. A.S. Cheema IPS, W/DIG/UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest & Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill IPS, W/SSP/UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Maneesh Chaudhry IPS, W/SSP/Traffic & Security, Sh. R.N. Meena, IPS, Commandant IRB Chandigarh,All DSPs, all Inspectors and all Traffic Marshals were present during the

2 event. During the Cricket match Chandigarh Police won the Match against Press Club Chandigarh. The winner team & participants were appreciated by W/DIG and prizes were given to them for their performances. Revamped Traffic Police Black Book-2016 having detailed information of road accidents and the Chandigarh Police annual review Booklet and Calendar Yearly 2016 was also released. SP Communication Mr. Roshan Lal were honoured by Chief Guest Sh. A.S Cheema IPS, W/DIG/UT, Chandigarh. A Free Sugar Test Camp organized by Medicose lab. Sector-22 Chandigarh. Members of Union Bank of India & Press Club Chandigarh also honoured the Chief Guest Sh. A.S. Cheema IPS, W/DIG/UT, Chandigarh. 4 Traffic Police Personnel and 25 Traffic Marshals were also awarded by the Chief Guest for bravery and good duty. A.S Cheema IPS, W/DIG/UT, Chandigarh inaugurated Wheel Clamps and Release Traffic Book (Drive Safe-Stay Smart) by Dr. Guneet Singh and Year Book of Honda, ID launch for women rider learner i.e. dreamriding@ctpchandigarh.in of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt.Ltd by the Chief Guest. In this occasion Dr.Sukhchain Singh Gill IPS, W/SSP/UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Maneesh Chaudhry IPS, W/SSP/Traffic & Security, Sh. R.N. Meena, IPS, Commandant IRB Chandigarh, Mr. P. Rajagopi, Head- Sales and Business Planning, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt.Ltd, Sh. Nitesh Ranjan Dy. GM Union Bank of India were also present. 16 Traffic Marshals were also honoured. Traffic Police organized a painting competition for school children. About 425 students from Govt./Private schools of the city participated in this competition, Free Sugar Test Camp organized by Medicose lab. Sector-22 Chandigarh and Cultural programme Giddha and Bhangra was also presented by the Chandigarh Police Personnels. Traffic Marshals presented a skit on Road Safety at Children Traffic Park Sector 23, Chandigarh On the 4th day of the 27th National Road Safety Week, Road Safety Workshops were organized in IT Park DLF Building in IBM Company & Infosys Company Chandigarh. In these workshops employees of both Companies participated, traffic officials/traffic marshals and 92.7 BIG FM RJ Abhimanyu delivered the lecture on road safety and distributed the road safety literatures and CD s were also distributed to the participants. Films on road safety were also shown to aware them about the traffic rules and regulations. Beside this, a Blood Donation Camp was also organized at Police Lines Sector-26, Chandigarh with the help of a team from PGI Chandigarh in which 79 Chandigarh Police Personnels were donated blood. The aim of organizing this Blood Donation Camp is to encourage the general public to donate blood which is very

3 precious for saving the lives of innocent people on happening of a road accident On the 3rd day of the 27th National Road Safety Week, Road Safety Workshops were organized in Vivek High School Sector 38, Strawberry Field School Sector 26, Guru Gobind Singh School Sector 26, Gurukul Global School,Mani Majra,St Anne s School Sector 32, MCM College Sec-36 & Home Science College Sec-10 Chd. In these workshops students/employees of the educational institutions participated, traffic officials/traffic marshals delivered the lecture on road safety and distributed the road safety literatures to the participants. Films on road safety were also shown to aware them about the traffic rules and regulations On the second day of 27th National Road Safety Week, Road Safety exhibitions were installed in Punjab University, Plaza Sector 17 & Ellante Mall, Chandigarh. In these exhibitions students/employees & general public participated & road safety literatures distributed to the participants & HC Bhupinder Singh presented a traffic awareness song in Ellante mall to encourage the people to follow traffic rules.beside this, Female officials of traffic police, Chandigarh were attended the seminar for women s studies and development in Punjab University Chandigarh Chandigarh Traffic Police organized the 27th National Road Safety Week 2016 in UT, Chandigarh from 8th February to 14th February, 2016 to inculcate the culture of road safety amongst the citizens with the theme Time for action. During this, Road Safety Workshops were organized in Delhi Public School Sector 40, St. John School Sector 26, Moti Ram Arya Public School, Sector 27, Dev Samaj College, Sector-45 & SGGS College for Girls, Sector 26, Chandigarh. In these workshops students/employees of the educational institutions participated, traffic officials/traffic marshals delivered the lecture on road safety and distributed the road safety literatures to the participants. Films on road safety were also shown to aware them about the traffic rules and regulations Zero Tolerance Day by Chandigarh Traffic Police To keep the city peaceful & secure, Chandigarh Traffic Police initiated Zero Tolerance Day on from 12 AM to 12 AM. The basic purpose of this was to aware general public to follow traffic rules without any failure. Following traffic rules is not any option its mandatory. The exercise was done under the close supervision of SSP/UT, Chandigarh. Total 94 Nakas comprising 18 drunken driving nakas, 8 over speed nakas and 68 others were laid within the city. For this purpose, about 568 Police Personnel including 3 DSPs, 6 Inspectors were deployed at these Nakas. Total 2634 challans were issued which includes 79 for drunken driving & 1276 for over speeding. Total 126 vehicles were impounded under the provision of Motor vehicle Act. The wheels of 7 vehicles were clamped and 12 vehicles were towed away by recovery van. Fine of Rs 6,56,100/- was collected in a single

4 day on single window Inauguration of Canteen in Traffic & Security Line Sector 29, Chandigarh Sh.Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, W/IGP UT, Chandigarh inaugurated the newly built Canteen in Traffic & Security Line Sector 29, Chandigarh. Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill IPS, SSP/UT, Sh Krishan Kumar, DSP/Traffic/Central, Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DSP/Traffic Admn & South and all traffic Inspectors were also present during this occasion. The objective of the canteen is to provide vantage to the general public who visiting daily to our Challaning Branch to pay the compounding fees as well as to the traffic staffs also Drunken Driving Nakas in City Chandigarh Traffic Police and PCR laid down joint nakas in different areas of city on from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The Nakas were supervised by Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DSP/Traffic (Admn., South, Road Safety and R&D). During these nakas, total 82 challans were issued in which 75 for drunken driving and 07 challans were for miscellaneous traffic violations. During the drive total 75 vehicles were also impounded. The exercise was done under the close supervision of Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, Chandigarh. This drive will be continued in future in order to save precious human lives Traffic Awareness / Helment Distribution Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a road safety awareness program regarding Helmet among the women. Bollywood actors Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Niwazudin Siddiqui grace the occasion. Sh. Roshan lal SP-Communications & Law and Order, Chandigarh Police also present to aware the general public specially women to wear the helmet while driving/riding a two wheeler Road Safety Programme by Braham Kumari Ashram As a part of Chandigarh 7th Police Week being celebrated from 01 to 07 Nov 2016, Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a road safety programme today i.e at 1100 hours in traffic auditorium, traffic lines, sec-29, Chandigarh. Wherein the representatives of Braham Kumari Ashram delivered lectures on road safety under All India road safety awareness plan. The programme was attended by approximately 150 officers and jawans of Chandigarh police and CRPF including autoricshaw drivers and the general public Painting Competition As a part of 7th Chandigarh Police Week 2016 being celebrated from 01 to 07 Nov 2016, today, Chandigarh Traffic Police in

5 association with Honda motorcycles & Scooters India Pvt, Ltd organized a painting competition amongst the school students at Children Traffic Park Sector-23, Chandigarh. The theme of competition was Chandigarh and cycling is made for each other In this competition about 200 students participated from the different Government and private schools of Chandigarh. Sh Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/Sec. & Traffic Chandigarh police were as Chief Guest. Sh Krishan Kumar, DSP/Traffic/Central, Sh Yash Pal, DSP/Traffic Admn, traffic Inspectors and traffic marshals were also present UMI AWARDS-- BEST PRACTICE PROJECTS IN URBAN TRANSPORT BEST INITIATIVE FOR IMPROVED ROAD SAFETY Dr Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic is awarded with a special award for his project Safety Begins with Team Work under the category of Best Initiative For Improved Road Safety during Valedictory Session on 11th November, 2016 by Hon ble Minister of State for Urban Development, Govt. Of India on the concluding day of Urban Mobility India (UMI) 2016 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Sh. Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon ble Minister of State, Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. Of India conferred the award to Dr Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic, UT, Chandigarh. Shri Nitin Bhai Patel, Deputy CM, Gujarat and Shri Durga Shankar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development were also present there. The aim of project was prevention of road traffic crashes and to minimize the injuries and damage they cause by effective law enforcement action supported by the role of awareness raising campaigns among people about traffic rules & regulations. Engaging civil society, academia, private sectors and philanthropic persons for effective execution of four pronged strategy of 4Es i.e. Education, Enforcement, Engineering changes and Emergency care training. Citizen volunteers having knowledge of public dealing are involved as Marshals. They accompany the traffic police officials during their special traffic rules enforcement drives as well as traffic safety awareness campaigns. Road Safety Cell has been set up at Children Traffic Park Sector 23, Chandigarh to impart education regarding traffic rules and regulations to general public including school/college students, vehicle drivers and other road users etc. in association with Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Private Limited. Mobile exhibition vans for giving lectures & showing educational and road accident related films visit markets, tourist places etc. NGOs like Arrive Safe and Tamanna are actively involved in organising road safety campaigns like street functions, awareness walk and rally etc. Promoting helmet and seat belt wearing etc. by engaging celebrities from different fields i.e. Sachin Tendulker, Kangna Ranaut etc. PEC(Punjab Engineering College) sharing their technical ideas in introducing effective technology i.e. Alco-Sensor, E-Challaning system etc. Fortis Hospital, Inscol Hospital etc providing first aid training to all traffic staffs to strengthen pre hospital care and immediate post crash response.

6 Inauguration of 28th National Road Safety Week On 9th January, 2016, Inspector General of Police, U.T Chandigarh Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS inaugurated the 28th National Road Safety Week at Govt College Sector-42, Chandigarh. At the function, Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT and Traffic & Sec., Sh. Ravi Kumar, IPS SP Operations, Sh. Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS SP City, Sh. Yashpal CPS, DSP Traffic Admn. & Traffic marshals were also present. The function followed by Traffic awareness cultural Programme, release of Tele film on road safety rules. Traffic Officials & Traffic Marshals were honoured by the Chief Guest. The IGP/UT appeals the general public to follow the traffic rules. The week long awareness programme on Road Safety i.e 9th Jan to 15th Jan, 2017 by Chandigarh Traffic Police will continue in city at various venues i.e Car rally, painting competition, Medical Check-up for drivers, stress management & Road show etc Second Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28th National Road Safety Week, Today i.e. 10th January, 2016, Chandigarh Traffic Police in collaboration of Chandigarh Adventure Sports Association organized a Women s Car Rally with an aim to aware citizens to obey traffic rules & regulation and taken care about women safety. The rally attended by about women participants flagged off by Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS SSP Traffic & Sec. from leisure valley and finished at IT Park, Chandigarh covering the all major junctions of city. Mrs. Simmy Dhaliwal Khosla & Mr. Dushywant khosla comes first, Mrs. Inder Deep Kaur & Rehmat Aulakh stood second, Mrs Nidhi Aulakh & Mrs. Manita Raheja comes third in the rally. Sh. Yashpal CPS, DSP Traffic Admn. alongwith Traffic Marshals & all Traffic Inspectors were also present during the event Third Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28th National Road Safety Week, Today i.e 11th January, 2016 Chandigarh Traffic Police with collaboration of 98.3 FM Radio Mirchi and Maruti Suzuki organized a traffic awareness Camp throughout the day at all major junctions in city to aware citizens to obey traffic rules & regulation special emphasises on following zebra crossing on the roads. Further, various teams of Chandigarh Traffic police personals are deputed on major traffic junctions in the city for distribution of awareness pamphlets on traffic rules and to present appreciation memento to citizen for following traffic rule willingly Fourth Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28th National Road Safety Week, on the 4th day i.e 12th January, 2016 Chandigarh Traffic Police organised a traffic awareness workshop for Drivers of CTU, Haryana Roadways, Auto, Taxi etc at traffic auditorium along with the medical check-up camp laid by Fortis Hospital for the participant of workshop. Further, stress management workshop by Baraham Kumari s was also organised for participant. The entire function presides in the presence of Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS SSP Traffic & Sec

Rajiv Kumar Ambasta DSP South Traffic alongwith Traffic Marshals & all Traffic Inspectors were also present during the event Fifth Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28 th National Road Safety Week, on the 5 th day i.e. 13th January, 2017 Chandigarh Traffic Police organized free eyes and Dental check up camp for general public and police personals at traffic auditorium, Traffic & Security Lines, Sector-29, Eyes checkup & Dental camp was organized in collaboration of Eye Hospital Sohana, Mohali and Dental Hub Dhanas, Chandigarh. Sh. Yashpal CPS, DSP Traffic Admn. alongwith Traffic Marshals & all Traffic Inspectors were also present during the event Sixth Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28th National Road Safety Week, on the 6th day i.e 14th January, 2017 Chandigarh Traffic police organized a Walk with the collaboration of HELLA India Lighting Ltd. & Arrive Safe with the theme of Walk towards Road safety- Walkathon to aware citizens about the deaths caused by road accidents. Walk flag off from Cricket Stadium chowk Sector 16 Chandigarh by Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS SSP Traffic & Sec Chandigarh and concluded at City Plaza, Sector 17 followed Nukad Natak on road safety by Traffic marshal. Further, Chandigarh Traffic police personals distribute pamphlets in the city for awareness towards traffic rules Last Day Celebrations of 28th National Road Safety Week In continuation of celebration of 28th National Road Safety Week, on the 7th day i.e 15th January, 2017 Chandigarh Traffic Police in collaboration of Fortis Hospital organised an awareness camp for police personals at Traffic auditorium, Traffic & Security Lines, Sector- 29 to motivate the participants for organ donation. At the camp Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan, M.S (Surgery) Fortis Hospital addresses the participants and gets them aware about the importance of organ donation. He promotes the Nobel cause and encourages the participants to pledge for organ donation. Further, Chandigarh Traffic police personals distribute pamphlets in the city for awareness towards traffic rules. Sh. Yashpal CPS, DSP Traffic Admn. alongwith Traffic Inspectors were also present during the event Closing ceremony of The 28th National Road Safety Week Today on the closing ceremony of The 28th National Road Safety Week, His Excellency, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator of UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest. On this occasion at Children Traffic park, Sec.23, Chandigarh, in his welcome address Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG, UT, Chandigarh addressing to the gathering advises to follow the traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic police. In this closing ceremony, Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secy., UT. Chandigarh Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT, Traffic & Security, Chandigarh, Shri Rajiv Kumar Ambasta, Sh. Yashpal DSP/Traffic/East, all other DSPs & Inspectors, Traffic Marshals and prominent persons of the city were also present. The gathering of about 500 peoples on this occasion

8 enjoyed a skit jago loko jago which was performed by the Traffic Staff, Chandigarh Police & Traffic marshals as well as painting competition was done by the school children. A traffic calendar was also released on this occassion. Traffic Inspectors Sh. Dilsher Singh Chandel, Ms. Paramjit Kaur Sekhon, Sh. Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Sh. Ashwani Kumar, Sh. Kapil Dev were honored by the chief guest of the function. The last vote of thanks was conveyed by Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT, Traffic & Security, Chandigarh Safe Braking Contest at Children Traffic Park Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. has organized Safe Braking Contest in association with Chandigarh Traffic Police at Children Traffic Park, Chandigarh on 21st January, The Chief Guest of the event was Sh. Rajeev Ambasta, Dy. SP, Traffic South, R&D Chandigarh Safe Braking contest is a unique activity that has been configured exclusively to on Progressive Braking in two wheelers through a competitive environment. In this event, we have educated the participants on significance of the following points: 1. Riding Gears (Helmet, Elbow Guard, Knee Guard and Gloves) 2. Riding Posture 3. Progressive Braking (Importance of using both brakes in two wheelers) In this event, we witnessed 300+ participation from Govt. Home Science College, Sect-10 & 11, Govt. Industrial Training Institute, Sector-28, Govt. College of Education, Sector 20, Govt. Co- Ed College, Sector-46 and Women s College, Sector-42 of Chandigarh. The winners of the event 1st Ms. Aarti, 2nd Ms. Dolphin and 3rd Dolly Kohli has been congratulated with Trophies and helmets by Sh. Rajeev Ambasta, DSP, Traffic South, R&D Chandigarh to ensure their safety on roads. Also in order to spread road safety awareness among larger audience, all the participants were asked to write a Road Safety Message to participate in Lucky Draw. At the camp Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan, M.S (Surgery) Fortis Hospital addresses the participants and gets them aware about the importance of organ donation. He promotes the Nobel cause and encourages the participants to pledge for organ donation. Further, Chandigarh Traffic police personals distribute pamphlets in the city for awareness towards traffic rules. Sh. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator of UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest. On this occasion at Children Traffic park, Sec.23, Chandigarh, in his welcome address Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG, UT, Chandigarh addressing to the gathering advises to follow the traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic police. In this closing ceremony, Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secy., UT. Chandigarh Dr. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT, Traffic & Security, Chandigarh, Shri Rajiv Kumar Ambasta, Sh. Yashpal DSP/Traffic/East, all other DSPs & Inspectors, Traffic Marshals and prominent persons of the city were also present. The gathering of about 500 peoples on this occasion enjoyed a skit jago loko jago which was performed by the Traffic Staff, Chandigarh Police & Traffic marshals as well as painting competition was done by the school children. Ltd. has organized Safe Braking Contest in association with Chandigarh Traffic Police at Children Traffic Park, Chandigarh on 21st January, The Chief Guest of the event was Sh. Rajeev Ambasta, Dy. SP, Traffic South, R&D Chandigarh Safe Braking contest is a unique activity that has been configured exclusively to on Progressive Braking in two wheelers through a competitive environment. In this event, we have educated the participants on significance of the following points: 1. Riding Gears (Helmet, Elbow Guard, Knee Guard and Gloves) 2. Riding Posture 3. Progressive Braking (Importance of using both brakes in two wheelers) In this event, we witnessed 300+ participation from Govt. Home Science College, Sect-10 & 11, Govt. Industrial Training Institute, Sector-28, Govt. College of Education, Sector 20, Govt. Co-Ed College, Sector-46 and Women s College, Sector-42 of Chandigarh. The winners of the event 1st Ms. Aarti, 2nd Ms. Dolphin and 3rd Dolly Kohli has been congratulated with Trophies and helmets by Sh. Rajeev Ambasta, DSP, Traffic South, R&D Chandigarh to ensure their safety on roads. Also in order to spread road safety awareness among larger audience, all the participants were asked to write a Road Safety Message to participate in Lucky Draw. The lucky winner- Ms. Alka was congratulated with a helmet Short Orientation Course on General Behavior Chandigarh traffic police has conducted a short Orientation Course on general behavior. In the workshop behavioral classes have been conducted by Ex. Principal Capt. S. Choudhary for the traffic police personnel in Security & Traffic Lines, Sector-29, Chandigarh from 26th March to 29th March, Maximum Traffic Police Personnel have attended behavioral classes for improvement in dealing with general public. The programme has been very useful for Traffic Police Personnel to learn about the polite behavior with general public and self respect Today Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted a special workshop on traffic awareness in Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector-16, Chandigarh for promoting road safety & traffic rules. During awareness School staff was also introduced about the School Traffic Marshal s Scheme and teachers were requested to educate the parents about the School Traffic Marshal s Scheme and send willing to traffic lines or office of W/SSP/Traffic/Security. 12 Chandigarh Traffic Police has been awarded Police Excellence Award in the category of best of Traffic Management by Cops Today, International, a journal on Internal Security published by Foundation for Police Research at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 18th May, The award has been received by Sh. Yesh Pal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic on behalf of Chandigarh Police. The award was given by Sh. T.N. Mishra, Former Director General of Police, Karnatka during the function Chandigarh Traffic Police is conducting special drive against drunken driving in the city by organizing nakas using breath analyzers on different locations near pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants and hotels. For community participation, traffic marshals are also present at these nakas. On , Traffic Police organized special nakas in the city at various places to check drunken driving and booked 116 offenders for this violation and their vehicles were also impounded. Challan documents have been forwarded to District Court for further legal proceedings. It is pertinent to mention that during this year upto , 4150 offenders have been booked for the violation of drunken driving. As per Section 185 of Motor Vehicle Act 1988, he/she shall be punishable for the first offence with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both. Further as per Sector 20 (2) of Motor Vehicle Act 1988, his/her driving license shall be disqualified for a period of not less than six months. As per Section 22(2) of Motor Vehicle Act 1988, if a person, having been previously convicted of an offence punishable under section 185 is again convicted of an offence punishable under that section, the Court, making such subsequent conviction, shall, by order, cancel the driving licence held by such person. There were around 400 students from standards XI & XII who were apprised of the Rules & Regulations pertaining to Driving Licence, use of Helmet and seat belt, Road Signs and Drunken Driving. More emphasis is being laid on educating students of senior classes as they are going to be road users very soon. A quiz contest was held at the end where students who answered all the questions correctly were presented with Mementos by the SSP/Traffic & Security.
