Founded in 2010 by former professional dancers Tim Heathcote and Simone Goldsmith, mdm s mission is to protect, prepare and educate the performing artist, making their dance experience richer, more enjoyable and injury free. 9 Dance Base Support / The patent applied Dance Base Support is designed to support the heel and arch, and to offer optimal assistance to the foot when working or resting. Performance Compression / By applying the principles of medical grade compression our Exo Compression Foot Glove helps dancers perform longer and recover faster. Exo Controlled resistance DID YOU KNOW: Compression wear works both during and after exercise. Arch support How it works Blood flow is encouraged back to the heart, flushing lactates and reducing recovery time. Whole foot: Support The Dance Base Support is moulded to the arch which allows the muscles to perform efficiently and recover when at rest. Whole foot: Pronation Pronation in the whole foot position is a common dance technical fault. Through the process of proprioception, the Dance Base Support encourages alignment awareness and the opportunity to make small consistent adjustments to facilitate optimal positioning. Demi pointe As the dancer moves from whole foot into demi pointe, the Dance Base Support continues to provide support to the foot and an awareness of the dancer s alignment through the ankle and lower leg. Pointe The Dance Base Support helps build strength in the small important (Intrinsic) muscles of the foot by providing controlled resistance. The development of these muscles is key to supporting a dancers foot work development and the prevention of many common lower leg injuries. Muscles are wrapped in a protective layer that protects against tearing and soft tissue damage. pg. 17

The Elemental is a split sole leather ballet slipper that has been specifically designed to supersede the full sole ballet slipper. The Dance Base Support protects and supports the wearer providing sensory feedback (proprioception), controlled resistance and critical shock absorption. 12 Intrinsic Canvas Split Sole DANCE BASE SUPPORT IMPACT PROTECTION The built in Dance Base Support technology positions the canvas slipper as a viable option for young students in training. The Intrinsic is a split sole canvas ballet slipper that has been specifically designed to supersede the full sole ballet slipper. Since the creation of the canvas split sole slipper, teachers have advised against their use for young students. With the built in Dance Base Support, the Intrinsic protects and supports the wearer providing sensory feedback (proprioception), controlled resistance and critical shock absorption. It supports the foot and arch and allows the intrinsic muscles to recover when at rest. 13 Exo Compression Foot Glove PERFORMANCE COMPRESSION FRICTION BURN PROTECTION A new approach to contemporary dance footwear, the Exo protects the foot while compression technology aids recovery and performance. The patent applied design is constructed from a seamless medical grade compression material that helps reduce muscle tear and limit soft tissue damage. The Exo also encourages blood flow from the foot to the heart, which in turn improves oxygenation and gives the dancer more energy in the feet and legs. 14 Protract Jazz Shoe DANCE BASE SUPPORT IMPACT PROTECTION ULTRA SOFT LEATHER The Protract Jazz Shoe features the patent applied Dance Base Support that builds muscle strength and stability over time. The shoe has been built on a dancer specific last that was created by utilising the latest 3D scanning technology. This allows the strengthening and support substructure that is contained in the heel and arch, to sit perfectly against the contours of the foot. For the technology to work at its maximum, the shoes have been designed to fit snug and the dancer will immediately feel the increased level of support for the arch. Due to the high impact nature of modern day movement and commercial jazz, the dancer can feel confident the Protract is providing them with the highest level of protection.
