Sept. 9 A Ladies Fall Community Book Club: Dinner: Sept. 20 The Social Committee is organizing a dinner at The Brick Restaurant on the circle in Georgetown on October 13 th. Time will be in the next Rundown as well as whom you should contact for a reservation. There will be separate checks available. Let s try and get a good turnout for what promises to be a great evening at a great restaurant! Hi Everybody, FROM THE EDITORS DESK It s July already and we are approaching the middle of the summer, and by the next edition of this newsletter summer will be over. So let s take a few minutes to think about what summer may mean to us. For most of us it is the chance to celebrate July 4 th and commemorate the day that our country was born. Here in Hunters Run we have a wonderful tradition of an old fashioned parade with neighbors and friends marching around the pond and the children riding bikes decorated with red, white, and blue streamers. We finish our parade with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by all with our hands on our hearts. What a wonderful way to show the younger generation that traditions still hold true, and that we should strive to keep them. Summer is also the time that we get together with our family and friends to enjoy our community and the area that we live in. Memories are made every summer and we all store them up for the tales that are told at family functions throughout the rest of our lives. With all this being said, please have a safe and wonderful summer, make your memories, and celebrate our country and the freedoms that we enjoy.

2 HUNTERS RUN ANNUAL 4 th of JULY AND PICNIC Everyone looks forward sharing good conversation and eating a hot dog with neighbors. This event provides an opportunity to meet new neighbors in a casual setting. So mark your calendar to attend the annual hot dog cookout. Date: Saturday, July 1, 2017 Rain date: Sunday, July 2, 2017 Parade: Time: Line up for Parade: 10:50 am. Place: Swimming Pool Parade Start Time: 11:00 a.m. Ceremony: Time: Immediately following the parade Place: Flag Pole Picnic: Time: Immediately following the ceremony Place: The Old Oak Tree at the end of Gracelyn Cost: Free for residents, families, and friends On Saturday, July 1, 2017 Hunters Run community will continue the tradition of honoring veterans and patriots with the annual parade, flag pole ceremony, and picnic. Families are encouraged to decorate bikes, wagons, strollers, dogs, etc. in patriotic colors to participate in the parade that will begin at the swimming pool 11:00 am circle around the large pond, and end at the flag pole. Following the program honoring service personnel, everyone is invited to the picnic located at the end of Gracelyn. The grills will be fired up to serve the traditional favorites. People will need to bring their own chairs. MENU Hot dogs on the grill Sauerkraut and other condiments Rolls Chips Dessert Drinks: lemonade and water Come celebrate the 4 th of July Weekend with family, friends, and neighbors.

3 LADIES BOOK CLUB The May Book Club meeting was held at Rita Brzostek s home. Most Wanted by Lisa Scottoline was the book discussed. This book poses an ethical and moral dilemma: what would you do if the biological father of your unborn child was a killer? Many theories were discussed. In June the club met at Linda Wisniewski s home to discuss The Dinner by Herman Koch. The story setting is Amsterdam where two couples meet at a fashionable restaurant. Each couple has a 15 year old son. Eventually the conversation focuses on the actions the two young men carried out one earlier evening. There is a surprise ending to this novel. The characters at the end are not whom they appear to be in the beginning of the story. September 20, 2017 is the next meeting at the home of Donna Abbatiello. The book to be discussed is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It is a historical fiction novel revealing the story of two sisters in France in 1940 separated by age and lifetime experiences. The story explores the differences in ideals, passion, and circumstances. Find out which sister earned the code name Nightingale during World War II. Grab a copy and enjoy reading poolside this summer. Please call Donna if you plan to attend. All ladies in Hunters Run are invited to join the book club. COFFEE HOUR Back by popular demand, Bea treated coffee hour attendees to her famous cheesecake. An additional treat provided was authentic New York bagels brought by her visiting family. Thank you for your delicious hospitality. May was the final coffee hour before beginning the summer season. We will gather again beginning in September. Hope to see you there. If you have not previously attended a coffee hour, the procedure is to bring your own empty cup, contribute $1.00-$2.00 to defray host expenses, and enjoy the savory coffee, delicious food, and friendly company. You might also be lucky and win the 50/50 if you chose to participate. Coffee hour begins at 9:00 a.m. All are cordially invited to attend. SOCIAL COMMITTEE NEEDS MORE MEMBERS The Social Committee is recruiting new members. There are several vacancies. Meetings are held only when necessary. We are always seeking suggestions for new activities or ways to enhance our present events. If you are interested in joining please let Marilynn Sheetz or Lisa Rubenstein know. The committee looks forward to having you join us. YARD SALE Thank you to Carolee Rooney for organizing the annual yard sale. I understand several neighbors profited from the event. How fortunate the weather encouraged bargain hunters to visit our booths. POOL PARTY The Social Committee received many positive comments about the Opening Day Pool Party. Thanks to everyone who attended and the delicious appetizers, salads, and desserts shared. Continue to enjoy the pool throughout the summer. NOTES FROM THE BOARD The voting for the Green Fence Project on Cromwell Alley has been completed. The community has voted to approve the expenditure to plant a green fence to border the back alley on Cromwell. Thank you everyone for your cooperation.

The liaison will contact the management company with your concern. Keep in mind that the speed limit is 15 miles per hour in our community. Dogs are to be kept on a leash at all times and please pick up after you dog. Parking is permitted either in driveways or on the street. Cars are not to be parked on the common grounds or in alleyways. The Pool Area is a bring in take out area. Please do not leave trash at the pool. Trash left behind encourages insects and rodents as we do not have the containers for food trash. The Pool closes for the day at 8:00 PM. Please be mindful of the volunteers who come at closing time to make sure that the pool is secure. They are making sure that the pool area is clean and neat and the umbrellas are put down so that we will not have damage to the furniture. 7 GOOSE AWARDS LAZY GOOSE AWARD: The goose encourages everyone to re-energize by enjoying the beach and pool this summer. RED/WHITE/BLUE GOOSE AWARD: In recognition of 4 th of July and the many veterans who serve and have served our country. BLOOMING GOOSE AWARD - presented to the lovely ladies who created a beautiful, welcoming garden at the community entrance. We see that much thought and creativity went into this labor of love. SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING GOOSE AWARD - to all of the volunteers who coordinated their efforts in preparing our pool for the well attended opening party. The clean furniture, freshly weeded surrounding area, more easily accessible bulletin board and delicious food offerings were much appreciated. BACKSTAGE GROUNDS GOOSE AWARD - handed over to our many behind the scenes self taught gardeners who tend to our common grounds between visits from our landscapers. They painstakingly weed, clean up and have been seen pruning broken branches and collecting debris left behind by the recent street project. POOP SCOOP GOOSE AWARD - unleashed to all of our canine companions who faithfully walk their pets on a leash and clean up after them.
