6 Q11A Why do you say this:? by Q11 As a trial, the High Street Gate is closed for traffic from 1pm and from 1pm all traffic must enter the Close via St Anns Gate and all exits via Harnham gate. Base: All not using Close as a through route Total safer quieter less traffic better for pedestrians anything that gives pedestrians more space is good anything thats better for pedestrians is a good thing appreciate the buildings as long as there is another access for disabled people better access for pedestrians better approach to the cathedral better for children playing on the green better for looking at properties better for the environment can see more of this part of the close can wander at leisure cars are quiet, you struggle to hear them behind you. Caused a lot of confusion around St Ann Street but a good idea to reduce traffic conflictling traffic probs congestiion congestion. have tokeep getting on and of pavement into road which is gangerous with the traffic dont live here easier for pedestrians essential. nearly got knocked down extend the pedestrian area of the high street to include up to the cathedral feel it is inappropriate to have congestion and cars around the cathedral good chance of getting run down coming through gate! good to keep polution down and walkers safe. on a different note - diappointed no info on tapestries in leaflet has a pram with toddler so safer have a baby and felt very unsafe walking in road with traffic behind high sr not good for prams high st conges but exeter st too complicated. leave as is in wheelchair so even more important to them for safety reasons its very narrow. nice to be able to walk in the road without fear of being run over keep historic town pedestrian keep it clear keeps a good pedestrian walk through to the city less cars less congestion less traffic for pedestrians

7 less traffic is better less trafic where people walking is a good idea local and remembers two occasions foreign drivers damaging the gates. plus prefer it as place of beauty lots of walkers and small children. safer main entrance for pedestrians so very congested more freedom more peaceful much easier for pedestrians much too dangerous to have cars and people in the road together narrow entrance narrow pavements nice idea nice to have pedestrian areas nicer atmosphere pavement very rough through high street gate. easier to walk onroad so yes, good idea peaceful people drive too fast plenty of car parks. keep catedral area pedestrian pram preserve buildings 90% of people come in that way. safer to have no trafic. also less polution qu eter quieter and safer rat run danger road not wide enough for cars and people safer and quieter safer for children safer for pedestrians safer for pedestrians and less fumes safer for pedestrians and nicer to have fewer cars safer for walkers safer, spoils the look having cars parked. safety of pedestrians saves environment see how it goes see more by green seen people fall off pavements before whilst avoiding traffic should always be shut so much easier when there were no cars particularly with buggy so narrow, can only go single file (walkers) the less trafic the better too hectic too busy for cars too busy with cars and people, dangerous too dangerous with children/elderly too many people for traffic

8 too much traffic at high st too narrow too restricted at gate traffic managment trafic has had too much priority. good to close it down for times two cars came past them when they entered and everyone got squashed onto the pavements two way tra fic coming in and out of main gates with visitors thinking its pedestrianised is dangerous v reasonable very congested with cars having to reverse volume of people coming through. no room for traffic too walk easier walk more freely wobbly on feat now. safer
