3 The Two Caminos: Interior & Francés Begin by walking the Camino Interior: a path which pilgrims, wishing to avoid the treacherous Pyrenees mountains, would walk from the Basque coastal town of Irun. After joining the Camino Francés in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, the path passes through rolling hills and open countryside as it winds its way to the city of Burgos and its magnificent Gothic cathedral.
