The Walk of Champions was inspired in 2006 by John O Neill following a personal experience he and his family shared with the staff at Baystate Mary Lane; in particular its Cancer Services. John was so touched by the care and compassion that they received that he wanted to give something back to the community and Walk of Champions was born. Last year, over 1,000 men, women and children participated in Walk of Champions amid the beautiful scenery of Quabbin Reservoir s Goodnough Dike. What Does Walk of Champions Fund? Walk of Champions supports cancer patients and services through the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center. Funds are raised through the Baystate Health Foundation and have been used in many ways including family support counseling, educational outreach, pastoral care, medication support and state-of-the-art equipment purchases. To date, Walk of Champions has raised over $740,000, all of which has remained local. Why Your Company Should Support Walk of Champions 100% of funds raised remains local to help cancer patients and their families living right here in our communities.
