The Kidney Walk is a non-competitive, fundraising walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases and awareness of the need for organ donation. It presents an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to participate in an inspiring, community-based event which calls attention to the need for early detection of kidney disease while supporting NKF s patient services, public and professional initiatives and kidney research. 4 How to get People Involved with the Kidney Walk The great thing about the kidney walk is that it is easy for EVERYONE to get involved! It can be a great team builder for your company and can create some friendly competition between co workers, all in the name of fun and for a great cause! Here are some suggested ways to get people motivated and moving! Set up a company on line fundraising page and then it to your customers and vendors makes it easy for even out of town contacts to support you in your efforts. Dress Down for Kidneys Host a dress down or series of dress down days where everyone who dresses down will contribute a certain amount (you decide!) and make that part of your company fundraising! NKF will provide stickers, pins or bracelets for your employees to show their kidney spirit! Sell retail cutouts for $1 and hang them in a common area where you can display names or motivational messages. Change a Life for someone with kidney disease display a spare change collection jar and let it add up! Catch up for a Cause Haven t seen much of your friends lately? Why not ask them to catch up for a cause invite them to join you for a walk and a chat and help kidney patients at the same time! Do you know anyone that belongs to a firehouse, ambulance squad, or someone who belongs to a civic organization such as Kiwanis Club? Ask them to host a pancake breakfast or a spaghetti supper to benefit the kidney walk! Have a lot of stuff piling up and don t want to take the time to list it on Craigs List? Have a garage sale instead and donate the proceeds to the kidney walk! Or.if you want to take the time to list it on Craigs List, you can still donate the proceeds to the kidney walk and mention this in your ad. You are bound to increase your responses!
