Flex PRESS 4 1/2 YDS 4 1/2 YDS 1 X 3 7 X 1 FRONT: 4 DEFENDERS - 2 TACKLES- NOSE AND TACKLE, STRONG END AND OPEN END LINEBACKERS- 3 DEFENDERS- SAM, WILL, JAG SECONDARY: 4 DEFENDERS- ROVER FIELD SIDE CORNER BOUNDARY CORNER FREE SAFETY
DEFENSIVE PLAN AND SCHEME THAT IS SOUND, IS BASED ON STOPPING THE RUN, AND HAS ENOUGH COVERAGE VARIETY TO BOTH PRESSURE THE QB AND STOP UNDERNEATH THROWS ON EARLY DOWNS.
GOALS 1. PLAY WITH GREAT EFFORT OF HITTING 2. PLAY WITH ENTHUSIASM 3. PLAY WITH PLAYERS WHERE HEIGHT IS NOT OF IMPORTANCE, BUT THE ABILITY TO RUN AND DESIRE TO GET TO THE BALL IS.
FUNDAMENTALS APPROACH OF DEFENSE: SQUARE SHOULDERS KEEP PLAYSIDE ARM AND LEG FREE MAINTAIN BASE-DO NOT CROSSOVER USE CROSS FACES PADS OVER TOES-DELIVER DO NOT CATCH HITTING WITH THEIR HANDS ELIMINATE MENTAL ERRORS-STAY SIMPLE ELIMINATE BIG PLAYS-STRETCH BALL EAST AND WEST-ELIMNATE CUTBACK DISRUPT OFFENSE-PLAY MULTIPLE FRONTS-STEM AND SLANT FRONTS BELIEVE THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAMMATES ARE THE TOUGHEST GROUP ON FIELD REFUSE TO STAY BLOCKED,EVEN THOUGH YOU LL GET BLOCKED FROM MANY ANGLES PLAY WITH GREAT EMOTION AND ENTHUSIASM EACH TIME YOU STEP ON THE FIELD
DEFENSIVE PLAN USE ONE FRONT THAT TAKES AWAY CUTBACKS, FORCES BALL TO THE EDGE AND HAS SIMPLE COVERAGE RESPONSIBILITIES AGAINST THE VARIETY OF FORMATIONS WE WILL SEE.
SCHEME CONSTRUCT A DEFENSIVE FRONT FROM FOUR DEFENSIVE LINEMEN AND A JAGUAR LINEBACKER. THE PURPOSE IS THESE POSITIONS SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONTROL ALL THE INSIDE RUNNING LANES, C GAP TO C GAP, AND RUSH THE PASSER.
WE PLAY WITH OUR INSIDE FOOT BACK AND EMPHASISE OUR INTIAL FOOTWORK WITH EMPHASIS ON LONG ARM, SHORT ARM AND RE- DIRECT. CALL SIDE PEOPLE PLAY ON THE EDGE EVERY SNAP AND EXPECT OUR BACKSIDE PEOPLE TO BE EXACTLY CORRECT. THIS ALLOWS US TO CHALLENGE GAPS AND BY USING CONSISTENT FOOTWORK AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT MISTAKES, WE ACHIEVE THE ATTACK MENTALITY OF DEFENSE.
WITH THE JAGUAR LB POSITION WE ACCOMPLISH THE FOLLOWING: GETTING UP ON THE BALL HELPS ON OUR PASS RUSH AND CREATES AN IMMEDIATE THREAT OF PENTRATION. BY PLAYING OFF THE BALL: HELPS WITH REACTION AND CAUSES OFFENSES TO WORK ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT BLOCKING SCHEMES. FLEX COBRA G STRIKE JAGUAR STORM TO THE CALL JAG JAG SMOKE 4 1/2 YDS 4 1/2 YDS 4 1/2 YDS 4 1/2 YDS
INSIDE LINEBACKERS: NOT TIED TO GAPS; ADVANTAGE- FREES THEM UP TO RUN TO THE ALLEYS OPENED UP BY THE FRONT FIVE WHICH IS FORCING THE BALL TO BOUNCE WIDE. THEIR ALIGNMENTS ARE MANY AS THEY ADJUST TO FORMATIONS SHOWN BY THE OFFENSE.
SECONDARY MAN-FREE MAN/MAN ZONE-COVERAGES MAN -FREE FORCE 4 1/2 YDS 4 1/2 YDS MAN HUG UP FIRST BACK YOUR WAY 4 1/2 YDS 7 X 1 1/3 7 X 1 1/3 GREEN-3 CHECK SWITCH ROBBER Vs. No TE Open
FRONT 4 DEFENDERS 2 TACKLES: CALLSIDE TACKLE 3 TECH NOSE TACKLE 0 HEADUP TECHNIQUE: STRONG TACKLE: INSIDE FOOT BACK 1ST STEP WITH INSIDE FOOT-CONTROL B GAP NOSE TACKLE: BALANCE STANCE-HEAD UP CONTROLS BOTH A GAPS, BUT MOST TIME HE WILL SLANT INTO A SPECIFIC GAP STRONG END: 7 TECHS INSIDE SHADE OF TE-1ST STEP WITH HIS OUTSIDE FOOT-CONTROL THE C GAP-DEFEAT BLOCK OF TE OPEN END: 5 TECHS INSIDE FOOT UP CONTROLS C GAP VERSUS WEAKSIDE RUN AND COLLAPSES THE BACKSIDE-C HECKING CUTBACK VERSUS STRONGSIDE RUN

PASS- SPY HUG NEAR BACK
JAGUAR: ALIGN IN FLEX POSITION 2 FEET OR 3 FEET ON HIP OF GUARD 1. CONTROL B GAP 2. RUN TO: VS. RUN STRONG SIDE ATTACK FROM AN INSIDE OUT POSITION VS. PASS RUSH 3. THIS PLAYER IS THE KEY TO OUR AGGRESSIVE APPROACH TO DEFENSE 4. BECAUSE HE MOVES UP AND BACK IN HIS ALIGNMENT, AS WELL AS, BEING ALIGNED IN DIFFERENT SPOTS. HE IS ALWAYS A THREAT TO PENTRATE OR STUNT. THIS ACTION DISRUPTS PASS OR RUN; BECAUSE HE CAN ALIGN BACK OFF THE BALL HELPS HIM TO REACT TO THE VARIETY OF BLOCKING SCHEMES. AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING A SINGLE ALIGNMENT PLAYER, THE JAGUAR CAUSES OFFENSES TO CHANGE UP ASSIGNMENTS.
SECONDARY: ROVER FIELD SIDE CORNER BOUNDARY CORNER FREE SAFETY ROVER: 8 TECH- 3 BY 3 THIS PLAYER IS LINEBACKER/DEFENSIVE BACK. TE BLOCKS-ROVER COMES UP SECURES D-GAP VS.
