1 What Does TFA Stand For? Our core values of Passion, Integrity, Fun and Enjoyment, Competition, and Respect are vital to the long-term success of our players. TFA is committed to developing these qualities and we strive to grow not only soccer players, but responsible young men on and off the field. TFA NEWSLETTER Building Character One Goal At A Time Follow TFA on Social Media Coaches Top stories in this newsletter (click on the image below to take you to that page.) NOVEMBER 2, 2018 Our Commitment: We focus on balance, developing The Person and The Player through the game of soccer. We place players in a competitive and enjoyable environment, challenging them to make their own decisions. Our Vision: Every single player is a better person because they compete/competed for TFA. Our Results: The player makes better decisions on the field which leads them to make better decisions in life. REMINDER Join the TFA App to stay up to date with all things TFA! Also, Coaches on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! Message From Paul Additional Ironman Winner! Coming Soon - Winter and Spring training times and season details. All information will be communicated in November! REMINDER TOPSoccer this Sunday (11/4). U14s and High School players are Teammates! WHEN WE POLISHED OUR FOOTY BOOTS: I d like to thank everyone for a wonderful fall season before we take a short hiatus and refuel our bodies with turkey and such! From our TAs for their constant updates and instructions to keep our families moving in the same direction (all free of charge!), to Elaine and Josie for making this Club run so smoothly on a daily basis, our fabulous coaches for investing their time to help our players/your sons reach their full potential, both on and off the field, all of you committed parents that spend endless hours running around our young lads, while working hard to financially let them play and finally to our splendid young men (players) that show their passion while in TFA colors and making us all very proud. On the field each team has tasted success, either in the league or at a tournament. When I say success, this encompasses both individual and collective achievements starting with enjoying the game. This leads to a passion and development that players push themselves to, which ultimately leads to improving and gaining success again, both individually and collectively. And, all in this order. This is down to the interaction of our coaches while teaching and showing the players the passion that is needed to continue the most beautiful game in the world! Off the field, we have seen our players participate with our fabulous TOPSoccer Program, superbly run by our very own Elaine. The inclusion and connection that our lads take away from this is character building. Our TS participants and parents every week comment on the friendliness of our players. To see every player and participant enjoying themselves while chasing that little ball around is heartwarming. One of the great things about this game is anyone and everyone can be involved. For me, this is what differentiates TFA. We balance both the player and the person. I hope you have enjoyed When We Polished our Footy Boots articles these past few weeks. Instead of another one from me I thought the recap below from TFA s very own Dave Kidd should take precedence this week. A recap from the heart, filled with passion and reiterating the Clubs mission, great stuff Dizzy Dave! Thanks again and see you all soon. Fall League Standings Kalahari Cup Champions & Finalists Check Out Upcoming Events!

2 Dave s recap.: Hello TFA U14 Red families!!!!! What a first half of our season!!!!! I am very pleased with how well this group has come together since we started our training on August 8th, which was just 11 short weeks ago. We finished in third place in our NWOYSL division and we were in one tournament championship. We finished in our league and we were in tournament play for a combined record of Our Kalahari Cup tournament this past weekend was very successful, and I believe that our boys are playing our best soccer of the season thus far. The weather was brutal, I believe that I finally dried out and that I can finally feel warmth in my hands and feet. In the heat of competition, it is sometimes difficult to get a perspective on how well we are doing and how far we have come. The boys have developed a familiarity with each other, they fully understand how we want to play, and they understand their roles and responsibilities within our formation and style of play. We were just about 15 short seconds from having the final go to penalty kicks. It was truly a heart-breaking loss, but it is through our losses that we develop character and courage. Courage to face unknown challenges, courage to persevere through adversity and the courage to seek out future opportunities to succeed in games and in life. The one thing that I told the guys just after the game, was that they will remember losses like this far more than the victories. Everyone put in a 100% effort for the good of the team and I believe that even in defeat they recognize that they are a success. I couldn't be more happy for the team or more proud of each of our boys. I love the fact that the boys have had success, but ultimately, I believe that these metrics of success are indicators that the boys are developing their soccer technical skills and knowledge. One of the biggest aspects of being successful and having success is that it can become a source and foundation of their confidence as a person and as a soccer player. It promotes a high self-esteem, it allows them to feel good about themselves and to be proud of what they have accomplished. I know that for me personally, my own athletic success has given me confidence to take on any challenge that has been placed in front of me and it is a big part of who I am today. As we continue our season, it is very apparent that we face a lot of different teams and there are different coaching strategies. Our concept is to use the game to build character, develop confidence along with having fun and help the guys to develop a real passion for the game, which should go well beyond their growing years. I tell the guys that we want them to read the game, recognize certain game situations and that each and every time they have the ball on their foot, they make ADDITIONAL IRON MAN WINNER decisions that can impact the game. In addition, we try to have the guys integrate their own special talents into our game so that they are a part of something in a very positive way. Again, thank you for all of your support and I am truly honored to be able to lead the boys, give them a good soccer experience and help them to develop their confidence as fine young men and soccer players. Please sign up for our Optional Indoor Training. This is a great way to keep active and keep their soccer skills sharp until we begin to train again in the winter. Elaine sent an , with more information, and all of the details to everyone yesterday October 29th. Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, November 27 through December 20, Time: JA/YA - 5:00-6:00pm / HSA - 6:00-7:00pm, Location: Maumee Soccer Centre We have another TOPSoccer Sunday this coming Sunday November 4th from 12:45-1:45pm at the Soccer Centre in Maumee.
