1 TFP NEWS Keeping you up to date with all things futsal New Areas Opened The Futsal Partnership is dedicated to meeting its long term aims of improving the lives of 1 million children per week. This will only occur if we can open both nationally and internationally. This growth has now commenced with the opening of areas in Glasgow, Southampton, Kent, Northants and East Staffordshire and Leeds Where Next? In November we are looking to add a further 5 new areas across the UK. We have already received over 50 enquiries and are looking to hold open days to help us choose the right Area Directors. If you know of anyone who might be a correct fit please let us know. Having received lots of international enquiries we have committed to opening in India. As a result of our close collaboration with the Department for International Trade we have agreed a new area in Bangalore. On top of this we have started trialling Sport and Play part of the organisation which will be a CIC. Its focus, to provide opportunities to those who are not catered for in traditional PE situations. New Topic Period This cycle has been on the topics of Moves to beat players and juggling. The coaches have been practicing hard and as always we have taken part in the sessions during a full day s training so we know how they should look and feel and we have tried (well Matt has) to be the biggest child to understand how they might break down. As always, we have tried to put the learning of the skills into game like practices. These may look messy and chaotic at times but this is where learning takes place. Do not expect to see the children stood in a line, waiting their turn, instead they will be playing matches and small sided games. The reasons for this are three fold: Improves retention of the skills, Improves transfer of the skills and most importantly it is so much more fun. By the time this newsletter reaches you, many of the children will have completed the testing part of PRO, so hopefully we can provide you with their results see link below: 1

2 Identified as a Gold Member The Futsal Partnership recently applied to have the coveted Children Activities Association Accreditation In an unregulated business we felt it hugely important to provide parents with peace of mind that their children were in safe hands. The accreditation is a very stringent process that reviews all of a businesses procedures to ensure the wellbeing of its customers and staff. Futsal Partnership recognised as one of the Top 100 Disruptive Businesses in UK It was an absolute shock, that our little company was recognised recently by both the Sunday Times and The Maserati 100 as one the UK s most disruptive businesses. We received this award for both how we are changing the way franchises are being delivered and also for the way we are changing the coaching and child sporting environment. It was a true honour to receive this recognition and going to London to rub shoulders with the likes of Ocado, SkyScanner, and of course Maserati. A massive thanks goes out to the whole team whose without them it would not have been possible and also to our loyal customers who continue to support our business. Having invested huge amounts of time and money into our systems and procedures we are absolutely delighted to have been identified as a Gold member. This is usually only provided to very large businesses. The accreditation team commented on our documentation: The depth and detail you have gone into is very comprehensive and I look forward to meeting the author of these documents The final step of the process will be completed in the summer at which point we will receive our accreditation. We hope that all involved whether customers, coaches or partners will welcome our constant drive to be the best in the marketplace. 2

3 Our Partners Futsal Leagues We have decided to embark on two new opportunities for children to play in. First of all we are working closely with the English Schools FA to encourage both secondary and primary schools to take part in a National Competition. We are starting two pilot areas in Newcastle and Cramlington. We have agreed a number of new partnership agreements with some of the UK s leading organisations. We are absolutely delighted to have partnered with Joma who will continue to be our kit supplier. We have made a commitment to not change our kit until December Joma has agreed at this stage to make us our own bespoke kit which has already been designed. Further to this we have recently started to work with leading manufacturer of sports equipment Precision Training. Precision will now be supplying the Futsal Partnership with all of their training aids and we are especially looking forward to receiving the new bespoke Futsal Balls which will be delivered and ready to order this month. The balls are of an excellent quality and made especially for the Futsal Partnership. They are kept in stock and will be readily available to order. We continue our excellent working relationship with one of the UK s leading sports universities, Northumbria University. We are currently working on two initiatives. One a futsal opportunity for players who wish to continue their studies whilst playing top level futsal and also some work with the psychology department about how sport can reduce the onset of dementia. Secondly, we are designing gifts and implementing a National Futsal competition that invites local grassroots clubs to come and compete in a DIFFERENT WAY. We are providing our philosophy to grassroots clubs at the same time as introducing the game of futsal. If your child s club hasn t already signed up get them to come along. We have pilot Schemes running in Newcastle, Durham, Southampton, Northampton and Glasgow. In order to make the leagues work we do need you all to take part and support your area. s will come out towards the end of the summer to inform you of your league and match timetable. Enjoy! More Gameplay You may have seen recently that many of our coaches have completed the Level 2 Futsal Award (currently the highest in the UK) to add to their already large collection of licenses and education. 3

4 On completion of the Level 2 we feel we are now ready to provide much more gameplay information. To this end we are adding a topic to the Scheme which will include game specifics. Furthermore, the matches and play within the current sessions will start to become much for futsal specific. The players at all levels will get a clear understanding of all the futsal rules and as they move up the age groups the older players will start to learn many more of the tactics. Where are they now? One of our favourite articles is the where are they now article. In this we look at one of our older players and how they are getting along. This time around we focus on Adam Wrightson. Anyone who follows Gateshead FC will know Adam from the first team from last year. Adam started with us when he was about 12 in our Consett Session and then went on to train in both Advanced and Elite Sessions and competed in a number of competitive games. Adam went on to study at Gateshead College and then was signed for Gateshead FC. We are absolutely delighted to announce that Adam is now coming back to work with the Futsal Partnership and coaching in the new Tanfield Sessions. This supports our main aims to keep children playing in sport forever, Adam has gone from originally training with us 3 times per week into further education, professional sport and then back into coaching. Those that know Adam will be over the moon to welcome him back. Good News Stories Our whacky new Area Director for East Kent (Tim Sells) has taken the Player of the Session award to a whole new level. Looking forward to seeing more of the BOSS. SAFC Academy of Light! A big congratulations to Jude from our Washington Oxlose session who has been selected by Sunderland AFC for the academy. A big well done to Arran and Amber who won the competition for 3 free one to one sessions that we ran a few weeks ago. Both have made great progress towards their level 4s, achieving personal best in dribbling, balances and traps, insides and outsides juggling. However the biggest improvement has been in their lace juggling both improving from single figures to 20+ in 3 half hour sessions. That is down to their attitude to learn and always try their best, well done guys! Durham Futsal launched a brand-new session in Stanley taking place at Tanfield School in Stanley, every Monday 5:30-6:30pm. the 4
