2 Mantic LOKA Team Tournament Rules 2014 Date and location This event will take place on the 17th of May at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Nottingham. The Marcus Garvey Centre, Lenton Blvd, Nottingham NG7 2BY Tel Tickets Teams consist of two players. One ticket is required per person to play in the Tournament. Tickets cost 9.99 each. Players can enter as singles and will be randomly paired with another single entrant on the day. The ticket enters a player for all the games on the day (as noted in the tournament schedule below) and the ticket price includes a special giveaway on entry. Tickets can be purchased from the Mantic webstore. Please bring a printed copy of your order with you to the event. Prizes There will be prizes for the teams in 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd places. Age limit Players must be aged 12 or over. Any player under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (playing or non- playing). Items you should provide Please bring the following: A teammate* A copy of Loka* Any additional Loka miniatures your team s armies require At least two copies of your team s force lists A printout of this rules pack and of the official Loka FAQs from the Mantic forum Pen and paper * If you don t have one, we are going to help you out on the day, so don t worry and come along anyway! 3 Building your Force Forces This tournament uses a maximum force total of 160 Points per player. Players must choose a single Force List up to this points limit, following the rules in the Loka rulebook. This force will be used for all the games on the day. Example force 1: 1 Rook 50 pts 1 Bishop 40 pts 1 Knight 30 pts 4 Pawns 40 pts Total 160 pts Example force 2: 3 Bishops 120 pts 1 Knight 30 pts 1 Pawn 10 pts Total 160 pts Force Lists Each player is required to submit one copy of his/her force list to the organizers at the start of the tournament. You also must keep a copy of your force to show to your opponents. If you are unsure of your force list, please feel free to submit it to the tournament organisers prior to the event for checking. Miniatures Miniatures can be either painted or unpainted, it s entirely up to you. Yuddah The additional rules in the Yuddah supplement (heroes, power cards, new tiles, etc.) will not be used at this tournament. Page 3

4 Tournament Rules Game Time and Victory Conditions The tournament consists of four games over the course of a single day. Each game will last one hour, including set- up. Schedule The tournament will take place on a single day and will strictly adhere to the following schedule: o 9:00-10:00 Event Registration o 10:30-11:30 Game 1 o 12:00-13:00 Game 2 o 13:30-14:30 Game 3 o 15:00-16:00 Game 4 o 16:15 Prize Giving Rounds The match- ups of the first round (Game 1) will be random. In the following rounds (Game 2 onwards) teams will be paired using Tournament Points (TP), as explained below. Once teams have completed their game in a given round they should jointly complete the result sheet provided and hand it in to the tournament organisers as soon as possible so that the next rounds can be organised in time. Results The game ends when both Kings from one team are taken, or when the organizers announce that the game time (1 hour) is over. Teams score one King- Kill Point (KKP) for every enemy King taken by the end of the game. If a team takes both enemy Kings by the end of the game, that team also scores a victory. The number of victories scored is used as a tie- breaker (see below). Match- ups From the second round, teams will be paired using a Swiss system (i.e. matching teams on the same amount of KKPs, in descending order). In case of more than two teams on the same number of KKPs, teams will be matched by number of victories scored in the tournament to that point, in descending order. In case of same KKPs and victories, teams will be matched randomly. At all times, the tournament organisers will endeavour to avoid teams on the same level re- playing a team they have already faced, if possible. Page 4

5 Winning the Tournament The winning team is determined at the end of the last round, according to the following criteria: The team with the most KKPs will be the winner In the case of teams having the same highest KKPs, the winner will be the team with the most victories. If both the KKPs and victories are matched, games where these teams have played each other during the course of the tournament will be evaluated and the winner will be the winner of such a match. Finally, if the teams cannot be split, the tournament ends with a joint victory and the teams share the first prize. Notes Rules Questions and Player Conduct This tournament uses the official Loka rulebook and the official FAQs published on the Mantic Forum. Please note that there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking an opponent if they can show you the appropriate rule so that you can check for yourself that everything is being done correctly. All we require is that you ask nicely and politely, and that you do your best to sort out any problems yourselves. If in doubt, the organisers are available to resolve your problem. Judges will be on hand if players require a ruling. Your judges for the event will be pointed out at the start of the day. A judge s ruling is final. There are no sportsmanship scores at this tournament. However we expect all games to be played in an enjoyable manner. We feel that all players should be fair and respectful to their opponent, displaying a fun and inclusive attitude to the game for themselves and their opponent and remember, no communication between team members about the game!!! We have intentionally not included a chess clock or timer in this first Loka tournament, so please try to play at a brisk pace, as it is in nobody s interest for the games to end in draws with no KKPs scored! The organisers reserve the right to take appropriate action for any player they deem to be playing unfairly or acting inappropriately. This may be in the form of a warning, a TP penalty or even a forced result. In extreme circumstances a player may be ejected from the Tournament for inappropriate behaviour (such as cheating, excessive swearing, shouting or verbal abuse). Crowd at the Table If one player feels discomfort with amount of spectators present at his table, he may request them to step aside. When this happens, a referee will ask everyone around to step away from the table. Page 5
