The Red Bulls used a 71st-minute goal from Kemar Lawrence to beat the Chicago Fire, 2-1, in a tight Eastern Conference affair on Saturday, April 29. The Fire had pulled level earlier in the second half after McCarty fed Nemanja Nikolic in impressive fashion, but Lawrence s slotted effort from the left proved to be the difference. The highly-anticipated match marked McCarty s first trip back to Red Bull Arena and first game against New York since they traded him to Chicago this past offseason. CLUB CONNECTIONS Sporting director Denis Hamlett was an assistant coach for the Chicago Fire from 1998 through 2007, then promoted to head coach and stayed on from 2008 to Both head coach Jesse Marsch ( ) and assistant coach Chris Armas ( ) had lengthy stints as players in Chicago. Chicago midfielder Dax McCarty is the most familiar with New York as he spent five and half seasons donning the Red Bull jersey. Both Gonzalo Veron and Luis Solignac share the same hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 09/30/2006 NY 1 vs CHI 0 W Giants Stadium 05/24/2007 NY 3 vs CHI 0 W Giants Stadium 09/01/2007 NY 1 vs CHI 0 W Giants Stadium 09/15/2007 NY 2 at CHI 2 T Toyota Park 05/25/2008 NY 1 vs CHI 5 L Giants Stadium 09/06/2008 NY 0 at CHI 1 L Toyota Park 10/23/2008 NY 2 at CHI 5 L Toyota Park 04/05/2009 NY 0 at CHI 1 L Toyota Park 05/24/2009 NY 0 vs CHI 1 L Giants Stadium 03/27/2010 NY 1 vs CHI 0 W Red Bull Arena 08/08/2010 NY 0 at CHI 0 T Toyota Park 06/26/2011 NY 1 at CHI 1 T Toyota Park 08/13/2011 NY 2 vs CHI 2 T Red Bull Arena 06/17/2012 NY 1 at CHI 3 L Toyota Park 07/18/2012 NY 1 vs CHI 0 W Red Bull Arena 10/06/2012 NY 0 vs CHI 2 L Red Bull Arena 04/07/2013 NY 1 at CHI 3 L Toyota Park 10/27/2013 NY 5 vs CHI 2 W Red Bull Arena 03/23/2014 NY 1 at CHI 1 T Toyota Park 05/10/2014 NY 4 vs CHI 5 L Red Bull Arena 08/10/2014 NY 0 at CHI 1 L Toyota Park 08/26/2015 NY 2 at CHI 3 L Toyota Park 09/11/2015 NY 3 vs CHI 2 W Red Bull Arena 10/25/2015 NY 2 at CHI 1 W Toyota Park 05/18/2016 NY 1 vs CHI 0 W Red Bull Arena 07/31/2016 NY 2 at CHI 2 T Toyota Park 04/29/2017 NY 2 vs CHI 1 W Red Bull Arena All-Time Postseason Results 09/26/2000 MET 0 at CHI 3 L Soldier Field 09/30/2000 MET 2 vs CHI 0 W Giants Stadium 10/06/2000 MET 2 at CHI 3 L Soldier Field SCOUTING CHICAGO Having lost five of their previous six, Chicago picked up three key points on the road against Montreal, 1-0 on Saturday to move back into third place in the Eastern Conference. A squad that has seen nine different scorers this season has been lead by double-digit goal scorers Nemanja Nikolic (16) and David Accam (14). Nikolic leads the team in goals with 16, despite not scoring a goal in the last nine matches. Accam has scored seven goals during Nikolic s ninematch scoring drought, including the game winner against Montreal. Chicago s starting midfield of Juninho, Dax McCarty and Bastian Schweinsteiger have proven to be a very formidable option in terms of offensive output, combining for 21 points on four goals and 13 assists. The Red Bulls went 1-1 in their last two-match road trip, falling 1-0 to Montreal before picking up their first road win of the year against Philadephia, 2-0. New York wrapped up its second back-to-back road trip in the same week with Sporting KC on Wednesday and Philadelphia on Saturday. The Red Bulls fell short to both Sporting KC, 2-0 and Philadelphia, 3-0. The Red Bulls, unfortunately, did not come away with a point in either match. It was just the fourth time under head coach Jesse Marsch and second time this season that the team did not record a point during a stretch like this. Under Marsch, the Red Bulls are when traveling for two matches or more. New York has come away with at least one point in eight of its 12 back-to-back MLS roadtrips with Marsch at the helm. He responded by putting away his first career penalty kick goal to level the New York Derby, 1-1. Both his assist against Philadelphia and his goal against New England were his first career game-winning assist and goal. CLOSING OUT MATCHES New York s unfortunate narrative in 2016 was that the team was unable to hold onto a lead or allow the opposition to take points away. Early on in 2017, the Red Bulls have seemed to have changed that narrative. New York is when leading or tied at the 75th minute mark. (15 MLS / 3 Open Cup) New York is 6-2 in one-goal matches, including 4-0 at Red Bull Arena. FIRST BLOOD New York is when scoring first this season. Wright-Phillips is one of the best goal scorers during the run of play in MLS as he owns a 0.63 goals per 90 without penalty kicks. He tops Taylor Twellman (0.59), Robbie Keane (0.57), Sebastian Giovinco (0.58) and David Villa (0.53). This season, BWP is the only goal scorer among the top 10 who has scored all 14 goals during the run of play, while the rest of the top 10 has recorded at least one penalty kick to their totals. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles has been a stalwart in net at Red Bull Arena since he came to the club in 2012 and Ryan Meara has been an outstanding complement in the Open Cup. Of Robles s 46 career clean sheets, he has recorded 30 of them at Red Bull Arena. He has a career 1.05 goals-against average at home. Robles has continued his trend of blanking the opposition at home, as he tallied four shutouts at Red Bull Arena to begin It was the first time in club history that the Red Bulls did not allowed a goal through the first four games of the season at home. Robles allowed a goal for the first time at home against Chicago. He tallied 415 minutes of scoreless soccer at Red Bull Arena to begin the season. His record in 2016 was 588 minutes, which is the third-longest in MLS history, that spanned from April 24 to July 24. The Red Bulls goalkeeper recorded the first road shutout of 2017 against Philadelphia on June 18. Robles tallied a game-high three saves. Robles added his second road shutout of the season, tallying three saves against Minnesota. Robles recently moved into a tie for 13th in MLS history for career shutouts with Bill Hamid at 46. Meara has been huge for Robles as a backup, playing extremely well for New York in the Open Cup. He has tallied two cleansheets in three Open Cup matches this season. Meara recorded a huge penalty kick save against Philadephia to help the Red Bulls advance. Meara has tallied four career shutouts in Open Cup matches. 5 NewYorkRedBulls.com 5

6 THE WRIGHT STRIKER With 24 goals last season and a second MLS Golden Boot, BWP put himself in a few elite categories. Per Elias, 18 players have scored 20 or more goals in an MLS season. BWP had 27 goals in 2014 and 17 in With 14 goals on the season and eight matches remaining in the regular-season, Wright-Phillips looks to become just the second player in MLS history to record 15-plus goals in four consecutive seasons.
