1 2018 Sutheast 6 Destinatin Imaginatin Reginal Turnament The turnament is being held at Oak Ridge High Schl and Oak Ridge High Schl Ninth Grade Campuses in the Oak Ridge area. Thanks t Cnre ISD fr hsting the turnament! Remember, we are guests at these schls. Please prperly dispse f all fd and trash items. Everyne wrking the turnament is a vlunteer! Parking Parking will be available at bth campuses. At Oak Ridge High Schl teams may unlad prps at the east (stadium parking lt) and west entrances. Fine Arts C: Change f Tune may als unlad at the suth entrance nearest the large parking lt. Prject Outreach: Inside Impact and Scientific: Unlikely Attractin may want t unlad at the west entrance. Technical: Maze Craze shuld unlad at the east entrance near the large gym. At the Ninth Grade campus Engineering: Drp Zne and Imprvisatinal: Treasure! shuld unlad at the east entrance at the back f the building near the large parking lt. Rising Stars: Friends Everywhere teams may unlad at the east entrance at the back f the building, r at the west entrance at the frnt f the building. The suth entrance by the gym will als be pen fr Engineering teams t enter. Please be respectful f ther teams and d nt blck the entrances. Vehicles will need t mve t a parking area as sn as prps are unladed. Turnament Check In When yu arrive at the turnament all teams need t check in at Team Registratin at Oak Ridge High Schl in the hallway at the west entrance. We have mved team registratin t this end f the building t accmmdate teams wh will perfrm at the 9 th Grade Campus. This entrance is right acrss the street frm the Ninth Grade Campus. Registratin will pen at 7:00am and clse at 2:00pm. Team Managers need t check in at least minutes befre yur perfrmance r Instant Challenge time. There will be a vlunteer at the registratin table thrughut the day. This will als serve as ur Lst and Fund. IMPORTANT: Yu must cme by registratin t have yur media/medical release frms checked and t pick up team member and team manager certificates. Yu will keep yur team s medical/media releases with yu. Yu must check in at least 30 minutes prir t yur Instant Challenge r Central Challenge perfrmance. We must have a recrd f yur attendance. Sutheast 6 Required Paperwrk Every Team must have ne cpy f the Sutheast 6 Medical/Media Release fr each team member in rder t check in. Team Managers are t keep the Media/Medical Releases with them during the turnament. These frms are available n the Turnament Page f the Sutheast 6 website at: COPIES OF THESE FORMS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE TOURNAMENT. Turnament Frms Teams shuld refer t their specific challenge fr the Team Challenge frms that are required. The Turnament Data frm has a checklist f the number f cpies needed f each frm. Rising Stars nly cmplete the Starry Shwcase Frm. Frms fr all ther cmpetitive challenges include: Expense Reprts, Declaratins f Independence and Turnament Data frms. Yu shuld bring 5 cpies f any answers t clarificatin requests submitted by the team.

2 Schedule Duble-check yur team s Team Challenge and Instant Challenge times when yu arrive. Teams shuld check in with the Prep Area appraiser at their challenge site abut 30 minutes befre their team s scheduled Team Challenge. Check in fr Instant Challenge at the Oak Ridge High Schl Sr. High Campus 20 minutes befre yur team s scheduled time. Please dn t arrive befre that time. There is nt enugh rm fr multiple teams t gather at the check in and prep area. Accrding t the Rules f the Rad abut Instant Challenge ne team manager, wh manages ne team, may accmpany the team int Instant Challenge. Team members may decide if their team manager accmpanies them. Structure teams check in their structure 1 hur befre their teams scheduled team challenge time. Turnament Spectatrs If yu are inviting spectatrs t cme watch yur team, make sure they have ALL the infrmatin needed t find the perfrmance sites. EVERY year we have family members r ther team supprters shw up at Registratin and ask where Jhn r Jane is perfrming. They dn t knw the challenge the team is ding, they dn t have a schl name, they dn t knw the team manager s name and there is nthing we can d t help them. Print the Turnament Invitatin prvided t help yur supprters: Interference Remind yur parents abut the rules fr Interference. It is OK fr parents and / r thers t unlad prps, mve them int the building, and mve prps t the prep area and launch area prir t the perfrmance, AND t help remve prps frm the perfrmance area nce a team has cmpleted their perfrmance. It is NOT OK fr anyne ther than the team t be assembling, repairing r therwise wrking n cstumes, prps r ther team materials. Yur jb as Team Managers is t mnitr yur Team and parents. It is nt yur respnsibility t reprt interference yu witness at the turnament. This culd be cnsidered un-sprtsmanlike cnduct. Turnament fficials are the nly nes wh can reprt interference t ur appraisal teams and they must witness the interference. We are depending n each Team Manager t plice their team and team supprters. Instant Challenge Yu need t check in at least 20 minutes befre yur teams scheduled IC Time. Check in fr ALL elementary, middle and secndary teams is n the secnd flr f Oak Ridge High Schl Sr. High Campus. Only team managers and team members will be allwed upstairs. D nt reprt prir t yur check in time. There is nt enugh rm fr additinal teams t gather. This area is a QUIET ZONE! Rising Star teams will d their Instant Challenge right befre their Central Challenge perfrmance at the ORHS 9 th Grade campus as listed n the turnament schedule in a rm right beside their Central Challenge perfrmance site at the 9 th Grade Campus. When teams cmplete their IC they will be given time in a CHILL rm t discuss their IC and t unwind befre leaving the IC area. This is the chance fr the team t talk thrugh the Instant Challenge. Teams are nt t discuss the Instant Challenge nce they have left the IC area and will sign an ath prmising nt t discuss the challenge in public until after Glbal Finals. N scres frm Instant Challenge will be returned t teams. when they are psted n ur private blg after the turnament. Cncessins Teams may see their verall Instant Challenge scre Cncessins are available in the cafeteria at Oak Ridge High Schl. A lcal caterer will sell Nachs--$3, BBQ Sandwiches--$5, Ht Dgs--$3, Fresh Fruit--$1, Chips, Ckies, Cheese crackers, snacks--$1. Drinks and candy will be sld in the Dime Stre fr $1.

3 DIme Stre Please be sure t visit the Dime Stre in the Cafeteria. We ll have lads f wild and crazy items t chse frm, as well as t-shirts, pins, and raffle items. Prceeds frm the Dime Stre help fund Sutheast 6 DI. We take cash, credit cards r Pay Pal payments. The Dime Stre will be pen frm 8:00 t 3:00 (r until we sell ut f everything). Teams that d nt pick up their t-shirt/pin rders n the early pick up day may pick up their rders in the Dime Stre. Remember that items in the Dime Stre will be tax-free. Raffle We will als raffle ff several exciting items! Stp by the Dime Stre t purchase yur raffle tickets. Tickets are $1 a piece, 6 fr $5, 14 fr $10, 30 fr $20. Winners will be annunced at the awards ceremnies. Yu d nt have t be present t win. Items are: -Assrted DI Pin set in Shadw Bx -Set f 2018 State Pins Other items t be annunced later! Scres fr Central Challenge Team Managers and ne Team Member shuld check back with the Challenge Master at their site apprximately 30 minutes after the team s perfrmance t pick up the team s raw scres. Please give yur Challenge Master yur cell phne number, s they can cntact yu when yur scres are ready. Smetimes we experience technical issues in the scre rm and scres may be delayed. If yur team is ne f the first fur teams f the day yu shuld wait at least ne hur befre picking up yur scres. If yur team is ne f the last few teams f the day we ask that yu return quickly t pick up yur scres. Scre Sheets nt picked up within 30 minutes f the last team s perfrmance at a site may nt be available fr pick up by the teams. We will bring scres t the awards ceremny, and then will mail all scres that are nt picked up. Teams have 30 minutes after they pick up their scres t raise any questins abut the scring. Only bjective scres can be challenged. Subjective scres can be discussed with the challenge master, but will nt be changed. Lst and Fund Lst and Fund is at the Team Registratin table. When registratin clses Lst and Fund will be taken t the Awards Ceremny and then given t the High Schl staff. Awards Ceremny The Awards Ceremny will be held in the large gym. Due t the large number f teams, and t ensure the safety f each participant, we will have tw Awards Ceremnies. The Elementary Level Awards Ceremny starts at 6:00 pm. The Middle and Secndary Levels Awards Ceremny will start at 7:30pm. The best parking area fr accessing the gym is the East parking lt near the stadium. Teams and Team Managers will sit n the gym flr. Team guests and spectatrs shuld sit in the stands. We will annunce places 1 thrugh 6 at the Awards Ceremny. First place teams will receive a trphy and medals. 2 nd and 3 rd receive medals. All placements will be psted n the Sutheast 6 private blg as sn as pssible. Teams Advancing t State Unless nted therwise belw, the first place team frm each challenge/level/site will advance t the State Turnament. Fr example, Scientific: Unlikely Attractin, Elementary Level will send first place winners frm each challenge site fr a ttal f 2 teams advancing. Fine Arts: Change f Tune, Elementary will advance first and secnd place frm each site, fr a ttal f 4 teams advancing. Fine Arts, Middle Level will advance 1 st and 2 nd place. Engineering: Drp Zne Elementary will advance 1 st and 2 nd place teams. Teams advancing t state will receive a packet f State Turnament Infrmatin. Team Managers f advancing teams must meet with the Reginal Directr fr abut 30 minutes after the Awards Ceremny in the cafeteria near the gym. This meeting is fr Team Managers

4 nly. There will be a limited number f reginal t-shirts and pins available fr purchase after the awards ceremny. Teams will als be able t rder/purchase pins and t-shirts befre the state turnament fr $15/$17 fr t-shirts and $3 fr single pins and $5 fr a set. Bnus Teams Texas DI has a Bnus Team prgram t allw mre teams t participate in the Affiliate Turnament. In additin t the teams wh qualify fr the Affiliate Turnament frm each regin, selected teams frm acrss the state, that came very clse t qualifying, but didn t win, may be invited t participate. These invitatins will be issued in early March, and must be accepted prmptly. S if yur team almst qualified fr advancement t the Affiliate Turnament, and yu d still like t g, hang nt yur sets, prps, and cstumes and mst f all yur creativity and stay alert fr that phne call r in early March! Prblems? Remember, everyne wrking this turnament is a vlunteer. We have dne ur best t try and make things run smthly, but prblems may ccur. Please cmplete a turnament evaluatin frm t give us yur input. Team Managers shuld review the Rules f the Rad fr the prcedures they shuld fllw shuld they have questins abut any aspect f the turnament. Only Team Managers can discuss prblems with turnament fficials. Parents must nt apprach turnament fficials abut prblems. Als, nly bjective scre elements can be challenged. Subjective scres may be discussed with the challenge master but cannt be changed. General Ntes fr all Challenges and Challenge Sites If yu have nt dwnladed the Travel Guide fr Teams then we recmmend that yu d s. This guide gives mre infrmatin abut turnament prcedures fr each challenge (except fr Rising Stars). Yu can find the Travel Guide at It will als be psted n ur website. Duble check clarificatins fr yur teams challenge at Rules f the Rad require that all prps be able t fit thrugh a 30 standard drway. We will nt remve mullins, drs, and hardware, r make any ther adjustments fr teams t be able t mve their prps int the perfrmance area. Prp Strage: NEVER leave yur team s prps unattended. This is a gd jb t give t a Team Parent. Accidents d happen. Even if smene else damages the team s prps, the TEAM still has t be the ne that makes the repairs. Because many f ur sites have nly ne dr fr bth spectatrs and the teams it is critical that teams and spectatrs be ready t mve quickly int the perfrmance area. Remind thse cming t see yur team s perfrmance that they need t be early. Once a perfrmance has started they will nt be allwed t enter the site. Site Restrictins ALL TEAMS Because Mansfield ISD, the site f ur State Turnament, des nt allw weapns, r a depictin f any weapn, n weapns, r depictin f weapns will be allwed at the Reginal Turnament. Dry Ice is nt allwed. Fg and/r Smke Machines are nt allwed Helium Ballns are nt allwed. Latex may nt be used Cnfetti Eggs and Silly String are nt allwed. Lights may nt be turned ff during a team s perfrmance.

5 Challenge Specific Ntes Fllw Early Learning: Rising Stars Friends Everywhere Rising Star teams will receive their participatin medals immediately fllwing the cmpletin f their slutin presentatin. Rising Star participants are welcme t attend the Awards Ceremny but there will nt be individual recgnitin fr Rising Star Teams at the Awards Ceremny. We have tw Early Learning Sites fr Rising Stars: Friends Everywhere (Sites D and I ). The tw sites are right acrss the hall frm each ther at the ORHS Ninth Grade campus. Rising Star teams will d their Instant Challenge first. Then they will prceed immediately t their challenge site next dr and perfrm their team challenge slutin. We encurage yu t take yur Rising Star teams t watch a few f the cmpetitive challenges. This will give them an idea f what the cmpetitive teams are ding and help prepare them fr next year. Fine Arts: Change f Tune and Scientific: Unlikely Attractin There are tw Elementary Fine Arts: Change f Tune and tw Elementary Scientific: Unlikely Attractin challenge sites at the turnament. They are bth at the Oak Ridge High Schl Sr. High campus. The first and secnd place teams at each Fine Arts Elementary site will advance t State. The first place team at bth Elementary Scientific sites will advance t State. The Secndary/Middle Levels presentatin site is als at the Oak Ridge High Schl Sr. High Campus. The first and secnd place teams fr the Fine Arts Middle level will advance t State. All Challenges: We have limited rm fr staging, s teams must nt bring their prps int the prep hallway until 30 minutes befre their presentatin time. Once a team has cmpleted their presentatin they must immediately mve their prps frm the challenge site. Parents may help mve prps frm the presentatin site after the team s perfrmance. D nt leave prps in the main prep hallway fr each challenge. Remind anyne cming t watch yur team s presentatin that there may be limited parking at times during the day at Oak Ridge High Schl and the Ninth Grade campuses. They will want t arrive in plenty f time fr yur team s perfrmance, s encurage them t arrive early. It is a shrt walk frm the parking lt acrss the street at Huser Elementary t the High Schl campus, r frm Oak Ridge Elementary Schl t the Ninth Grade campus, if n parking is available at the schl. Once a presentatin has started n ne will be allwed t enter int the presentatin site. The 1 st place teams fr mst Elementary, Middle Level and Secndary Level will advance t the State turnament. The 1 st and 2 nd place teams fr bth Fine Arts: Change f Tune, Elementary sites, and 1 st and 2 nd Place in the Fine Arts Middle Level Site will advance t the State Turnament. 1 st Place Scientific Challenge: Unlikely Attractin, Elementary Level at each site will advance. Drp Zne Structure check in fr all levels is in each Gym at the 9 th Grade Campus. Structure check-in times are ne hur befre the teams team challenge time. Teams will nt be allwed t check in their structures early. Teams will return t structure check in t retrieve their structure when directed t d s by the prep area appraiser. D nt remve the frm sealing the structure cntainer until directed t d s by the prep area appraiser. Teams shuld d their wn mck CHECK IN t make sure their structure meets all the challenge requirements. Structures that d nt meet all f the requirements will receive a weight held scre f zer. Engineering teams need t pick up their structures when they pick up their scres (30 minutes t 1 hur after their perfrmance as directed by the Head Appraiser / Challenge Master). We will dispse f any structures nt picked up within 30 minutes f the end f the last team s presentatin.
