The Red Bulls also set a new record for most points in a season (71). Homegrown attacker Derrick Etienne Jr. was the hero with the game-winner in the 53rd minute. After Bradley Wright-Phillips was taken down in the box, Etienne Jr. had a penalty saved in the 15th minute, with a little help from former teammate Sacha Kljestan. Prior to Etienne's windy, slow run-up, Kljestan was pointing to Adam Grinwis' right. Grinwis obliged, saving Etienne's attempt where Kljestan forecasted it would go. But in the 53rd minute, Etienne Jr. would redeem himself. The Haitian dribbled Shane O'Neill, cut back to his favored right foot from the left side of the 18 and fired into the bottom corner. Grinwis could only get a hand to it, but not enough to keep it out of the net. After the goal, all 11 Red Bull players on the field celebrated. Most joined Etienne Jr. in the corner as Luis Robles let out an ecstatic jump in front of the South Ward. Ten minutes later, Dom Dwyer appeared to pull Orlando City level, as he headed past Robles from a Mohamed El-Munir cross, but the assistant's flag immediately went up for offside, negating the finish. A few minutes thereafter, El- Munir found Dwyer onside but the striker sent his volley wide from eight yards out. The league's stingiest defense navigated the final 20 minutes with few hiccups en route to another shutout. CONSISTENCY IS KEY Since 2014, New York has tallied the most points in the league (292). New York extended its league unbeaten streak to eight consecutive matches (6-0-2), dating back to last season, following their 4-1 win over San Jose on Saturday. The Red Bulls current seven-straight 50-plus point seasons is the longest active streak in MLS history. New York tied the LA Galaxy for the longest streak in league history with seven straight 50+ point campaigns. New York recorded its ninth-straight season with 10-plus wins. The Red Bulls are just one of three teams to have an active streak of nine or more seasons with 10-plus wins. (Seattle - 9, Real Salt Lake - 10). The Red Bulls qualified for the postseason for the ninth-consecutive year, the longest stretch among major sports teams in the New York metro area in Points from 2014-Present RBNY Seattle FC Dallas Portland Total CAPTAIN AMERICA The Red Bulls recently re-signed USMNT defender and 2018 MLS Defender of the Year Aaron Long to a multi-year contract using TAM. Following a stellar 2018 season with multiple accolades, Long continued to cement himself as MLS best defender with back-to-back USMNT caps during January camp. Long captained the USMNT squad to two clean sheets in international friendlies against Panama and Costa Rica. Long s first game with the captain s armband against Panama on Jan. 28 came after earning his first cap just three months prior in an international friendly against Peru. Long etched himself into club history as the franchise s first MLS Defender of the Year in He started 31 of the 34 league matches, and anchored a Red Bulls backline to 15 MLS shutouts. Offensively, he tallied career-bests in both goals (3) and assists (2). The Oak Hills, California, native was named to his first MLS All-Star Game, starting and playing a gamehigh 62 minutes to help the MLS All-Stars tie Italian-side Juventus, 1-1. BWP IRONMAN RUN Alongside current teammate Luis Robles, who is MLS' Ironman with 183 consecutive games started and played full 90 minutes, Bradley Wright-Phillips has gone under the radar as another Red Bulls Ironman. Prior to 2019, BWP has played 164 of the possible 170 games and has started 151 of them over the last five seasons. Wright-Phillips has tallied 13,632 minutes out of a total of 15,300 as a forward in five seasons. 5 5

Of the six games Wright-Phillips has missed, it has been recorded that he has only missed one match due to injury whereas the other five have been for rest. BWP sits second in games played (172) and fourth in games started (156) in franchise history. AN AMAZIN ACADEMY The Red Bulls Academy system continues to show that it has the ability to churn out great products. This offeseason, New York signed the club's 21st Homegrown and 23rd Academy Product Omir Fernandez on Jan. 26. Fernandez played with the Red Bulls Academy before spending the last two seasons at Wake Forest. Fernandez earned his first call-up for the U.S. Men s Youth National Team U-20s this winter following his sophomore season at Wake Forest. After a strong freshman year as a super-sub for the Demon Deacons, the Bronx, New York, native started 20 of the team s 21 matches with career bests in goals (12) and assists (6) in In two seasons for Wake Forest, Fernandez recorded 18 goals and 11 assists, including six game-winning goals, in 44 matches. Prior to his U-20 call-up, Fernandez was called into the U-18 MNT during his time with the Red Bulls U-16 team, where he tallied 20 goals in 24 US Soccer Development Academy matches. In two seasons with Red Bulls Academy before heading to Wake Forest, he recorded 42 goals in 56 games. RETURNING PRODUCTION New York's offseason was a quiet one, in terms of player movement, which means they bring back a majority of the squad that set multiple records in MLS. Offensively, the Red Bulls return 96 percent (76 of 79) of their goal production, 84 percent (73 of 86) of their assist production and 95 percent of their shots on goal (228 of 238) production back in New York's Top-10 goal scorers return, all of whom had multi-goal season performances. Nine of the Red Bulls ten top assist performers return (Tyler Adams was third with nine). New York's defense was quite good in 2018, as they led the league in goals-against average (0.97) and shutouts (15). A large part of that has been the backline and goalkeeping that has stifled the opposition s attack. Three of the Red Bulls four backline defenders currently represent their national teams Lawrence (Jamaica), Long (USMNT), Murillo (Panama), while Parker (USMNT) saw action and his first cap recently during RECORD-BREAKING SEASON New York completed a 34-game league slate that will be remember for both the franchiseown and league records that were broken. The Red Bulls broke the league s singleseason records for the most points (71), most wins (22, post-shootout ERA since 2000), most home points (43) and tied home wins (14). Alongside the league records, New York took down their own club single-season records for goal differential (+29), shutouts (15), goalsagainst average (0.97) and tied road wins (8). Individually, Bradley Wright-Phillips became the fastest player in league history to record 100 league goals (159 matches) and the first player in MLS history to record 20 goals in three different seasons. A YOUNG DANISH FORWARD The Red Bulls completed the transfer of U-19 Denmark National Team forward Mathias Jørgensen from Odense Boldklub using Targeted Allocation Money, and signed him to a multi-year MLS contract on Feb. 12. Jørgensen, 18, will be added to the roster pending receipt of his ITC and P-1 Visa, becoming New York s youngest rostered firstteam player in He made his professional debut for Odense Boldklub s first team at 17. The Hundested, Denmark, native has appeared in 18 matches across all competitions and tallied three goals in 572 minutes. Before he was promoted to the first team, the Danish forward played for OB s U-19 side, appearing in 25 matches and scoring 28 times in 2,112 minutes played. He also scored nine goals in nine games for the OB reserves as well. For country, Jørgensen has seen time with both Denmark s U-18 and U-19 squads. He made his first appearance for the U-18 team on Nov. 9, 2017 against the Czech Republic U-18s in an international friendly. Jørgensen then made his debut for the U-19 side on March 25, 2018 against Germany s U-19s. In total, he has appeared in five matches with 260 minutes played for Denmark. LOCK-DOWN DEFENSE LOCKED DOWN Since the end of 2017, Sporting Director Denis Hamlett has been able to retain the core of New York's defense and it proved to pay dividends in NEW MANAGER, SAME TEAM The Red Bulls exercised an option to transfer Chris Armas became the franchise s 16th Michael Amir Murillo to New York in November head coach on July 6, following Jesse Marsch s of 2017 and then re-signed Kemar Lawrence departure to Europe. (Sept. 2018), Tim Parker (Dec. 2018) and Armas coached his first ever MLS match as a Aaron Long (Feb to new multi-year MLS head coach and second match overall as the contracts. Red Bulls manager against NYCFC on July

7 Before Sunday, July 8 s MLS match versus NYCFC, Armas led the Red Bulls to a 1-0 victory over New York City in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round. Since his debut, Armas has led the Red Bulls to a , including an eight-match league unbeaten streak (6-0-2). Armas became the third head coach in club history to lead the Red Bulls to a Supporters Shield in his first season. LIGHTS, CAMERA, BWP Bradley Wright-Phillips has shined the brightest when playing on national TV, whether its ESPN, ESPN 2, FOX or FS1.
